    Saying rolex is one of the best watches is odd tbh
    Rolex is one of the most known
    Or popular etc watch brands
    But best watches, overrated
    Do they make good watches yes, but their marketing, sales tactics, limiting producting number's, etc. Are some of the reasons they are well known and wanted. Doesnt make them the best

      it is the best though. It is so well balanced, and has the whole package. It is more robust than high horology watch, more affordable, high value retention, more wearable than most. VERY affordable servicing/repair fees compared to IWC, breitling etc. A lot of the time I try to find some niche watch that is either better crafted or has a dial I really want, but at the end of the day there's ALWAYS something off putting, whether the dimensions, thickness, water resistence, feel of winding the crown, bezel action, etc.
      example1. I wanted a GMT. I looked at omega, the only thing they had was 43mm AT. I looked at grand seiko SBGM221, but 14mm thick.
      example2. I wanted a 36mm watch that's robust and elegant, has a good tapering bracelet with adjustable clasp. There is none other than Rolex, period.
      I've done my homework and searched the whole market. Rolex is just the answer.
      There is a REASON Rolex is most popular, because people know...

      Agreed!!!
      Coca Cola and Pepsi are both the most known companies in the world.
      Are they good...? Money makers , yes, quality? we all now...
      The fact that Rolex as a watch maker company is known to pretty much everyone on the world is cool, but so as the Seiko

    Rolex is like Apple, for those who love it nothing else will do... For those who don't, it's a great way of spotting an NPC without even talking to them.

    I'd say one critical mistake people make with Rolexes (or high-end watches in general) is not insuring them. Watches are meant to be worn, not tucked away in a safe. Insure that thing so you can daily it without worry 💸

    • @7.92Gav

      Only insure a watch if you can't afford to lose it. There are benefits to not insuring.

    • @marcusherts9345

      @@7.92Gavwhat benefits are those?

    • @marcusherts9345
      @marcusherts9345 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      How do you insure one?
      Is it just put on your house insurance?
      Or is there a special insurance for luxury watches out there?

    • @7.92Gav
      @7.92Gav ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      @marcusherts9345 talk goes on within insurance companies. You don't know who knows your address and what valuable items you hold. Also, the tax man can look at your list of insured valuables after you die and add them to the value of your estate for IHT purposes. If he doesn't know......
      Sure, losing a watch would be rather annoying, but I wonder how many years' insurance premiums it would take to repurchase the watch. That’s the risk calc.

    • @DollarDude
      @DollarDude ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +4

      @@7.92Gav I disagree. The only benefit to not insuring a high-end watch is having enough money to not care if you lose, break, or get robbed of a high-end watch. If that's you, congrats. The annual premium on a $17k Rolex with a $0 deductible is around $240 a year, which is a small price to pay to not worry about rocking your Rolex in a crowded city or tourist area.

    I just love the way you say Rolex. Rolex offer robustness and bling. Highly recommend try them on, take a photo, think about style, clothes you wear etc. Nothing rational about these watches, so whatever connects emotionally. Can we have a video short of you just pronouncing Rolex, JLC etc..😍😂

    Luckily I don't like a single model of rolex. Don't like crownguards, don't like mercedes hands, don't like baton hands, don't like fluted bezels, don't like cyclops, nor big day displays. It's odd, not a single Rolex speaks to me. Oyster case and bracelets are nice, OP would be niced for me with dauphine hands or stuff like that.

    • @Antenox
      @Antenox 38 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

      I'm in the same boat. I generally like the dials and hands just fine, but the bezels just don't speak to me. The only Rolex I find appealing is the OP because of the simplicity. It's the same with Tudor. I hate the snowflake hands and slab sided cases.

      What function do you think that apostrophes serve? Like, what were you thinking when you put a random (and incorrect) one in the middle of 'wants'? Sincerely curious. (Also, what's your first language?)

    When I was in HK back in August 2024, I noticed local ladies wearing 36mm Rolex DJ or Submariners. The question is, are they real? I have no idea, but a quick search online, at least half of them are genuine. The only ones wearing 28mm Rolexes were older ladies on the MRT. So the question of too big or too small, it all depends on you.

    I'll never own a Rolex watch... I couldn't even afford the insurance and the costs for servicing a Rolex.
    Luckily for me, out of the Rolex lineup only the Air-King comes close to something I would pick, and it just doesn't make sense with all the in my opinion better designed pilot and field watches out there.
    I would be much more inclined to pick a Hamilton 42mm Murph, but ever since the inflation hit and increased the cost of living (but not my salary) that's out of my price range as well these days.
    It's a good thing there are some lovely cheap quartz watches out there like the Orloff Dunes and the Accurist Aviation - not to mention the Sea2See Panarea01.

    I really like the Rolex movements, but I don't like the new rlx designs and the attitude of some rlx owners. My daily is a Tudor in the rlx price range i would prefer other brands.

    from my experience, the things i didnt think about before buying a rolex is as follows. 1. i see rolex on the internet all day everyday therefore my rolex didnt feel special or "mine", it was simply boring. 2. modern rolex's are NOT strap friendly. 3. people DO judge you and not always in a good way. i was a warehouse worker with an explorer and people thought it was stupid that i had such an expensive watch on and figured i was rich (not true). i sold my rolex after a while due to all this. some things are only learned through ownership.

    I’ve made several Rolex mistakes chief amongst them not doing enough research on vintage pieces. Not everything out there is accurate on model number production years etc. Ignore the talk about “The Best,” since we have individual criteria for assessing that there is no best for everyone watch or watch brand. Buy what’s best for you and wear it in good health.
