    I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that's laughs at my lovebirds when they fall like that. They're pretty graceful so it hardly happens but it's pretty funny when a bird is hanging out on your shoulder and they fall because they are sleepy and tumble down my chest and down my belly on my lap....that only happened once though he was like a feather wheel. His chirps said oh s**t, f**k I can't stop!

      FOR REAL HAHAHAHA mine is a female and she’s always a b*tch, even though I’m very sweet with her sience she was a baby. She can lay on my shoulder and give me kisses, but I can’t touch her with my hands or fingers or she will bite me until I bleed and that’s something I can’t change yet 😢

    All I have is my tame budgies. A lovebird just randomly appeared in my yard today and seemed really tame, nearly let me touch him. I opened the window near the budgie's cage and it flew right in. The cage is huge and has a divider, so I put him in one of the divisions. It seems really chill and didn't even mind my hands in the cage when I was changing things to make it more comfortable for it. Now I am watching these videos to avoid making mistakes.
    (Wasn't planning on having more birds but he is such a cute little birb and there was no way I'd let it starve outside so I guess now I have one more bird)

      I applaud your decision to keep him and to inform yourself on the particularities of this species.
      Lovebirds are quite different from budgies. I guess you might already know, but I would like to add that they can be very aggressive towards budgies, so they shouldn't be near each other unsupervized. That's what I would suggest.

      No.
      I used another method with my bird in the first week of having him. When he attempted to bite my finger, I used my mouth to blow little air on his head, everytime. He eventually quitted trying to bite and became the most lovely bird once he gained my trust.
      If you hit his beak, he might understand that you want to fight him. My aunt did this to my bird when I was away from home (she said that's how she was playing with him, I still cannot understand why would she do that lol), without me knowing, and she learned the bird how to bite again.

    @UnkleAL1962 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    my peachface was hand raised by a local lady so she was very tame when I got her. Her momma thought he was a boy and so did I for a couple years. But the shredding was always there in hindsight. Then one day there was something in the cage, an egg, my boy was a girl! You have to be gentle with lovebirds even though they will bite you. My girl has her timeframe of coming out of cage every night between 7:30-8:30 and she comes to me, lays down on the crook of my arm, lays on warm computer and bites keys, takes a nap. They generally need a quiet home nobody yelling at their cages and making them stressed. Open the door and let them come to you to develop a relationship, and don't get mad when you get laid into and bitten because that WILL happen until you learn to better read their body language, and then even for no apparent reason at all. Introduce them to baths, they are habitual and also defend their cage as their territory but you can work around that. My girl is 16 1/2 years old and still in good shape although she can't fly as good as she used to and I just have to be in tune with that and return her to her cage if she is tired. Big personalities in little packages if you are observant and tolerant of bites no matter what, and enjoy animal's quirks and what they bring to your life. Otherwise you shouldn't have one.

    Hello. I need an advice. I have a female lovebird. And she likes eating everything.she sits on my head and this is very annoying I can't teach her literally anything because she's always doing the wrong thing.she likes to eat me and bite me. She hates when she's touched. How do i train her?

    I also recently got a lovebird pair, and I am having trouble identifying their genders. I am pretty sure that the one with a redder forehead is the male lovebird, however that is the same bird that love to chew paper since about day 1, whereas the other one remains scared. The birds are SUPER close to one another, so I’m really hesitant on deeming one bird to be the female one and I need to know so I can feed her more from the cuttle bone before egg laying. Any advice here?

    I've got a question, guys,
    is hitting the ground with their beak really a sign of angriness? Because my two lovies do that all the time, even though I'm not around. I think it can just mean playfullness, but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

    My bird sometimes moves in a specific pattern back and forth and does this rapid clicking noise and then scratches his head! I think its curiosity or if the bird is bored and want to play

    Your video is great and enlightening! I have a doubt, two years ago a Hybrid Lovebird (green and orange) showed up at my house, he entered the Cockatiels cage and started to eat (he was hungry). Since then he has stayed with us and we love him, but unfortunately he is terrified of hands. He comes with us, climbs on our shoulders, loves to be around us, but is very scared of hands and fingers and always attacks when he has the opportunity. With great effort, we manage to slowly get him used to our skin, climbing shoulders and arms, but never in the hand and if you want to "catch" him, don't even think about it because he becomes an attacking machine. Is there any way to educate him so that he gets used to our hands? Thanks.

    I do have a question : where can we find those birds, outside the petshops ? (i heard so many bad stories about animals from thoses shop, like the ones where they don't treat them well, inbreeding and stuff)

      They are usually found in the South-East territories of the United States. Florida Virginia and more. Utah and Nevada house specific species too.

      Same, but I pet them when they're relaxed, not hyper or awake, just borderline sleepy, and it took a few days before they started associating it with petting, not aggression

    • @alinaNotAlien
      @alinaNotAlien 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrono-glitchwaterlily8776 really that does work? I dunno if that works for me cause my lovebird is like... Super hyper always since his partner died and i'm his only friend now... And when he's sleepy and he sees my Hand moving he's like alarmed. I notice he is kinda climgy and likes to sit on my shoulder but hand is a no go.. I'm trying to train him getting used to my arm without a shirt again which works semi well... Maybe it's still too much pressure for him.

    • @chrono-glitchwaterlily8776
      @chrono-glitchwaterlily8776 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alinaNotAlien put your hand nearer when he's sleepy and when he gets alert, just leave it there until he relaxes. Even if you do not get immediate results, he's learning that your hand is not a negative thing. During this timeframe, don't pick him up. Let him step on your hand or offer your shoulder if you want to move him. He likes my head so I used my head and it worked. If he's comfortable with all your body parts except your hand, lay down and leave one of your knees up, that's where he'll be perching for temporary training pet time. Only bring your hand closer when he's resting on one of your knees(it's one of the easiest body part to maintain up without making you feel numb or tired)
      Once you get give him pets without him starling at all can you try petting him anywhere else
      This is not guaranteed, but I once chased by bird around the house before I knew that I wasn't doing anything good. I tried this exact method and it worked. Don't expect it to work 100% though since you have a different bird

    • @alinaNotAlien
      @alinaNotAlien 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrono-glitchwaterlily8776 aight thank you... Seems like a nice way to try it. He's aggressive sometimes (simce lovebirds are more aggresive them... Budgies for example) but imma check out what he likes and what not. I also used lovebird sounds sometimes so he would come to me and then i just let him sit on my shoulder so he gets comfy. Now if something scary happens he escapes to there like... "Mom help!! " somehow cute but i will try the method to get him used to my hands... Hopefully it'll work.
