    I’ve always watched family vloggers (my escape, i’m from a very dysfunctional family - seeing their highlights was like “ahh nice families do exist”) and I didn’t see the exploitation side of family vlogging until your videos.
    I totally value your content, it’s so eye opening and you really do only advocate for the children. It’s too bad not everyone is willing to see the family vlogs/content for what it is, as well as being more careful. There are soooo many (too many unfortunately) predators and creeps.

    As a foster mother in the states I agree with using caution when calling CPS. We can barely get basic resources for our foster kiddos. Therapeutic and special needs foster homes are completely maxed out in capacity in my state, where kids are being placed in hotels. Of course resources and homes are state dependent, and unfortunately, our state is small and low on resources. Kiddos coming into our home are severely traumatized, in which being moved into a foster home adds more trauma. They've placed kids back with parents failing drug tests because they deemed the parent still able to care for their child under the influence. There's such a shortage of resources and homes in our state that they have lowered the bar for children's care.
    I also see a lot of people assuming Asa was lying about CPS having a more dire case. While he could be lying, unfortunately we've had a caseworker break case confidentiality before. One of our monthly visits was delayed because the caseworker said she had to focus on a runaway before she could get to us. It happens. The system is not perfect at all.
    I really hope one of these days Josh could do a video on CPS/foster system in general. It has a lot of issues that really needs to be addressed.

    They go on about how there is no way either of them want the job of teaching Abby full time then saying that it would be an easy job only having one student. If they think it's that easy why don't they do it themselves or realise that a lot of teachers like myself would prefer many students over being in the child's home having everything you do judged by the parents.

Please watch the first 10-15 seconds of the video where Abbie is dosing off on the patio and Asa leaves her there ALONE and walks into the house, closes the door behind him and continues to film. I am a parent of a son with special/extra needs, and I have been accused of exploiting him on social media. I have a small following on FB and TT, and have shared our lives for years for many reasons, so when someone said this to me I initially got really offended and assumed the person just didnt 'get it'. SO MUCH of my life is my son, so it made sense that most of my videos included my son. After really thinking about it I have changed some things about my content, and I think any loving parent would do the same.
    My son is almost 27 and he actually can consent now, (and may have a female fan or two at his day program) but I definitely went back through and watched everything through a different lens. We have created some huge monsters by paying these people so much money, I hope this is the turning point and things will continue to change.

      @TruPunx89 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am so very happy to read your story and although it is a bit bad that people gave you so much backlash but sometimes it is needed to make people see what they are doing to us.
      Abby is actually not giving consent in many diffrent ways. From shaking her head “no” to pushing away the camera.
      There are kids(some are now adult) that now speak up when their family has exploited them by living in a van and filming every day. Or non speaking kids that type and tell that way that it was a hell with parents that put everything online.
      I was pushed to speak and not have my own pace which actually cut into my ability to speak now. Im 32 and i am thankfull to live in the netherlands and there is (nearly) no access to ABA. That would have crushed me as it has crushed many others.
      Thank you for being mindfull about what you put online and what you dont.
      We are just humans with a different need of support then others. :)

    These people are so disillusioned that they are somehow going to teach Abby how to live an independent life. They feel as though the schools were not giving her enough life skills and they can do it better. It’s unrealistic and Abby is the one who has to suffer.

    • @dailealexander2055
      @dailealexander2055 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree completely. Abbie's parents need a MAJOR reality check, especially if they still think there's ANY realistic chance of Abbie living independently someday. That is clearly NEVER going to happen. Abbie seems like a great kid, don't get me wrong, but her intellectual disabilities are EXTREMELY profound. She has to be constantly prompted to do anything & everything, or else she gets distracted & wanders off. This is clearly a child that will need full-time 24-7 care for her entire life.
      Asa & Priscilla make so much money off their TH-cam channel, they could easily afford to hire some of the best professionals in the field to come teach Abbie & give her a truly world-class education -- but they don't. Instead, they spend all that money on things for themselves -- cars, real estate, fancy electronics, vacations, an RV, etc., etc. Abbie's needs always, ALWAYS come last for these people. And that's what bothers me the most about the Fathering Autism channel. They should honestly be ashamed of themselves.

    • @CrystalCat24
      @CrystalCat24 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      She can use the bathroom on her own during the day. The reason she has to wake her parents up is because she's locked in her room at night via baby gate and other locks that she can't figure out. And as u said, she wears pull ups at night with her backwards pajamas.
      I do just want to call out, to Josh's entire family vlogger point, is something that I shouldn't know.... But do. 🤷🏻‍♀️😳 And THAT is why people shouldn't exploit their kids online!!!🙀🤔🙀🤔 I know way too much about their family!

    About the washroom debacle. I don't know if they still do this, cause they've not shown it in ages, and I haven't really watched anything recently, but they used to put her pjs on backwards, like zip up ones, so she couldn't take them off at night cause I guess she was smearing feces or something would be my guess. So she would probably need help to go to the bathroom in that case, if they are still putting her in the zip up pajamas on backwards. Again, though, that was years ago I saw a video about that. So she may not wear those to bed nowadays.

    I am not a big fan of theirs in anyway, but I need to add that it is not unusual for severely autistic people to not be able to toilet themselves. My son who is 25 still cannot wipe after a BM. I also have to bathe him, shave him, cut his hair, etc. I wish everyone had to spend some time with a severely autistic child and the family, especially doctors. As far as supported living goes, it is not a walk in the park. The people who these agencies hire have no experience, just like respite workers. You, as the parent, have to spend weeks and months training and then they leave. Respite workers are not easy to find, depending on the needs of your child.

We empty our bank account every month to get my son extra speech therapy outside of school.. while I watch this dude complain that he may have to be a teacher for his child, meanwhile his bank account is overflowing from the exploitation of his own kid… none of which goes back to that kid’s education. We spent our ENTIRE savings to move to a state with more resources for our son. We make “too much” to get government help, so everything is on us. Ya right? These people don't even get up early in the morning. I've seen many many vlogs where they comment that Abbie sleeps until like 10or 11 most mornings and Asa always says it's bcuz Abbie stays up so late. But Abbie depends on them to go to sleep at night she doesn't put herself to sleep. This family is the epitome of lazy and now she's starting to really gain weight. Not surprised since it seems she always wants to eat and they stuff her full of it. All processed and junk food and sweets. I get it's ok sometimes but everyday? They clearly don't care about her being healthy and always pass it off that she's just a typical teenager. No sorry Asa she's not. They are 100% responsible for the way she eats since they are the ones feeding it to her. She doesn't go and buy this crap herself. Yes teenagers like junk food and will often buy themselves treats, but Abbie isn't going out buying the junk, they stuff her full of it. Sadly by the time she is 18 she will most likely be pretty overweight if this continues. And it's not just that they feed her a lot, it's how much and what they feed her. I swear every vlog I see if them there is always a clip of them eating or going through the drive thru for donuts or getting ice cream or chick filet or Chipotle. It's never eating something healthy.

    I’m a teacher with nine years of experience and a Masters degree. I make about $54,000 a year.
    Abbie probably has multiple respite workers. Some of those may be students that are studying behavioral science. Usually someone with Abbie’s diagnosis would get respite 2-3 times a week. She would also have in home therapy 2-3 times a week. I imagine what they are trying to do is find a new “Wednesday” person and they probably want someone that is studying ABA therapy…
    I’ll also say - I agree with you about doing the best for your kid. I am a public school teacher - but my child attended a local private school. It was expensive and we whe t without vacations and new cars, and all the good stuff in order to pay for our daughter to have a strong foundation of education. I feel that I give a good quality education to my students and I think public schools are often filled with great teachers. Still - my daughters largest class was 15. My largest class is 36. I paid for her small class size because I truly believe smaller class sizes will improve this country’s academics.

    In the Mother’s Day video Asa leaves Abbie alone in the pool floating on the dock, while he goes inside to clean the kitchen. There was no camera pointed at the pool to watch her. And, the door leading to the backyard is not only closed, but we see later that it was locked as well. So Abbie was alone and out of earshot for a time.

She knows how to peddle make up and cook and that's about it. I think that along with just plain laziness are the reasons she says she can't teach Abbie. As far as taking Abbie out of school that could be that it takes time away from them going to Dunkin and going out to eat if they have to drive her back and forth to school. Sadly her and Asa seem to keep gaining weight and now all the junk food they show Abbie eating is packing the pounds on her also. She literally cannot speak. Her communication skills are extremely, EXTREMELY limited. There is no way for her to tell her parents "I really don't feel like doing a meet-&-greet today" or "Hey, these people are making me extremely uncomfortable, please don't make me hug these strangers anymore." The way Asa & Priscilla exploit her is absolutely heartbreaking to me. They parade her around like she's a goddamn show pony & not a human being. Is that not the freaking textbook definition of child exploitation? I mean, come on now -- what else would you call that?!

    Calling/involving cps in situations like this is such a double edged sword…yes, it’s good someone knows what’s going on in regards to exploitati*n in homes like this and Danielle Cohn, but, if they were taken away by cps, they could very likely be placed in a much, MUCH worse home. SA, for example runs rampant within this system and Abbie and Danielle would be the “perfect victim” for that kind of thing considering what they’ve already been through. As idiotic as Asa is, he is right about a worker maybe having a bad day or paperwork could slip through the cracks, many kids have been taken away for much less and never given back due to cps negligence. The system here is beyond f’ed.

    @The Dad Challenge Podcast at one point you said that CPS (or DCPS/DCF) doesn't unjustifiably take children away... but they do because I too am disabled and was taken from my home for 11 days. My social worker took a personal vendetta against my parents, lying to the judge, falsifying evidence &/or cherry picking medical facts (recommendations). Yes, I would say that DCF does do good work in some cases BUT there are situations where physically abled people have a preconceived notion as to how "easy" it is to live a challenged life. Often times we tow the line of how closely we follow a doctors orders because sometimes their recommendations can negatively effect the rest of my body. For example, if I drink 8 cups of water a day my kidneys will hurt and water will collect at my feet. So I have to drink about 4 to balance between 'dehydrated' and 'drowning". It's just a fact that non medical people (DCF social workers) just DONT understand.

    22:35 this is an incredibly uniformed perspective. i used to work at a swimming centre where we facilitated classes for children with special needs and many could swim - and swim well - but could not go to the bathroom by themselves. the thing is that even if a given individual with additional needs technically CAN go to the bathroom by themselves, it doesn't necessarily mean that they can clean themselves to the degree that is needed. hygiene is not something you can slack on for the sake of "independence" and doing so can result in legitimate health concerns. also swimming is something that many children with additional needs absolutely love - especially those with sensory processing disorders (which are common with autism). but yes, i agree that showing all of this is very unnecessary

I can speak on the type of people, which is something that will push the community away. I myself was looking for some resources for my daughter that I knew they could probably provide due to their knowledge and platform. Cilla read it and totally ignored me. I did let her know days later I thought they were more caring than that... Oh believe me she THEN responded (still with no help) but to basically tell me her family was too busy to answer things like this.
