Thanks for making this video. Super helpful as I am about to replace the vent window seals on my '78 D200. Here is a summary I wrote up while watching your video:
    • Order plastic door seal install tool
    • Take pictures of the position of the vent window pivot and anything else you need to remember
    • Take vent window bolt out and don't drop the glass or lose the plastic grommet
    • Remove door panel from door
    • Lower window all the way to get to front window liner seal
    • Remove plastic dust cover from inside of door and remember to re-apply later
    • Remove vent window seal from outside prying with screw driver to get behind vent seal and pop out
    • Remove screw that sits at front inner frame of the door - sits kinda in the middle, the inner frame can wiggle once this is loose
    • Very gently work front window liner and frame out through the top but be careful not to break window - it comes up on the inside of the door frame, there is one more bolt down low in the door. Guide the exit with one hand while removing with the other.
    • Once the assembly is out, there is a Philips screw that holds the vent window frame into the assembly, will need to remove this screw
    • Remember to orient the lower vent window pivot correctly from your picture
    • Put the vent seal into the frame working it in with the plastic guide tool and use soapy water to help alleviate friction
    • Remember to reinsert the pivot before reinserting the assembly into the door frame
    • Re-insert the small screw into the door frame to the top vent window pivot with blue loctite (per comments)
    • Re-insert glass
•Guide the seal to the outside of the door frame and allow the lip to seal properly - soapy water is helpful to lubricate
•Give the seal a good press/squeeze all around the make sure everything is seated

Thanks! Are you planning on doing any more Dodge truck videos? I bought an 85 D150 around a month ago and need all the help I can get. This is definitely on the list of things to do.

Couple tips-- remove the vent frame with vent glass still installed, no need at all to remove while in the door. much easier to r+r on the bench. no need to remove the white plastic part, it does not add more clearance if the frame is removed correctly. The tiny screw that holds the top vent window pivot is blue locktite in place from factory, use a gentle propane torch to heat it before removal-- if that snaps off in the chrome pivot part... royal pain. As noted in the vid, the bottom frame connection is the source of all the r+r issues. There is a pocket inside the door that grabs the connection-- both taking out and putting in-- you need to stick your hand in there and guide that the ENTIRE time you are r+r, then it goes in easy. Window must be all the way down, soap water everywhere before you start to install. If you like your paint job, mask the door frame on both sides of the vent frame area, to prevent scratching. Good vid!
