THIS IS SO REFRESHING! All I see is ppl praising MC. Thank you for being real! There were a few that I still have my eye on. We have similar styles, except I love purple lol 😅
I do find it strange when somebody will love something so much that they refuse to see any flaws. The only thing I'm like that with is my husband. That man is perfect! 😜
I don’t buy from Mooncat. Their price is to high for amt of product. I can’t see that the polish is any better than others at better prices. Thank you for your honest opinions! Everyone else raves about them like they’re the greatest thing since sliced bread. I appreciate you so much. You’re still fun even when complaining!❤❤
Oh my gosh, do you know how good that was to hear that I'm entertaining even while complaining. I'm going to have to show this to my husband 😀 I've noticed there's quite a few people that specifically only purchase from this brand, their entire nail rack is mooncat. I do think that's strange when there's a lot of great polishes out there. But on the other hand, some people just become really in love with something and they want to support that to the fullest, and I guess I understand that as well. 🙂
This is why i will always continue to watch your videos, such an honest & pure review. I see no ill will, just a gal giving her honest opinion on something she loves, nail polish 🥰 Also mooncat costs sooo much im glad to kno these things before considering a purchase ❤❤ thank you thank you 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Mooncat never tickled my fancy & I always felt so alone in that so it was nice to hear your thoughts in this vid! My reasons for not purchasing were the price for the amount you get is a bit steep for me, I’m not a fan of not just the cap but the bottle style, and the inconsistencies I’ve heard about across platforms have all turned me off. I know a lot of folks have had good experiences and that’s great, but there’s enough variety out there that I’ve always felt OK skipping MC, personally.
This video is so validating! I couldn't believe it when I heard you talk about how horrible HOH was to apply, because I had the same exact experience with AIEYF! Dried so quickly it was a nightmare to work with, hands down the worst formula I've ever experienced. I was so frustrated by the end of it that I don't know if I'll use it again, which is really a shame because the color is amazing. The lunar sale was my first time ordering from them and like you I had such a mixed experience, undecided if I'll order from them again.
It must be batch inconsistencies or the people that are extreme fans of the brand are not being honest. I'm so happy I was able to validate your feelings. I know how hard that is when you feel one way and everybody else is saying something different. I got you girl 😉
Dead hands in a good way - makes me laugh. This video reminds me of me and friend kvetching over coffee. Remember Steel Magnolias line from Olympia Dukakis in a southern accent “if you don’t have anything nice to say, come sit by me”. Great honest video.
I've heard so much about this brand (and constantly see ads pop up) I was going to take the leap during their sale recently but just wasn't sure it was worth it....I'm glad I saved my money, I don't feel like the price is worth it....thank u for your honest review ❤😊
Jennifer did such a good job here. I can tell you I’ve been using moon cat for a while and I’ve bought polishes that other people hated that I absolutely loved and didn’t have issues with like they did .. and also hated some polishes that everybody else loved because my color was off or or the formula was bad. I definitely don’t understand all the Mooncat hype. Yes they have some beautiful polishes but the consistency issue is a pretty big turn off. There are way too many makers with polishes that are consistent -with great brushes and great formulas EVERY TIME. I just never know what I’m getting with Moon cat.
I'm glad it helped. I definitely wanted to take my time and get a real opinion on the brand. That way it can help others decide if they want to spend their money. 🙂
TY 🙏🏽 This supports my decision to find dupes of some of the colors that I like from the brand. I’d definitely be the one to knock over the bottle as I was painting too. 🙅🏻♀️ It’s funny that this came out right as their new collection did too. Adds some balance to the paid reviews!! ☺️
I didn't even plan that, but it's perfect! while people are watching amazing reviews of the new collection. They could see my thoughts on some of the older polishes as well 😊
Love this very honest and straightforward review! I have quite a few Mooncat polishes (both my own purchase and inherited from a friend) and I will say I have overall had a positive experience. But videos like this are so important to alert people about brand inconsistencies! My own House of Hades definitely pulls purple even when fully opaque, but it was a bit difficult to work with, though not to the extent of your experience. I also bought from the lunar sale and so far, everything I have tried has been positive, but I heard MANY cases of bottles breaking or returns for gloopy formulas. For whatever reason, the brand is experiencing a bad quality control issue that needs to be addressed. P.S. my first Cuticula polish was the Portal one from April PPU and I'm obsessed with it ❤
So well done and so well said! I feel the exact same way! Moon cat has some beautiful polishes but not always great formulas and what the heck is going on with the consistency? Why do some of the polishes look and apply differently depending on which bottle you get?!?! And this seems like a well known problem - I’ve heard multiple reviews mentioning this issue with consistency - so why doesn’t Mooncat do something about it? Mooncat needs to acknowledge the consistency issue and they need to update ALL of their brushes! Anyway, thank you for being blunt and honest. Such a good video.❤
@@ThatSoundsBoring yeah the fact that they're a bigger brand has me wondering if trying to make these specialty polishes in bigger batch is just not working. Maybe that's why small indie companies can make polishes with all these components because they're making them by hand in small batches. Just some things I've been wondering about, but not like I have any factual knowledge 🤔
I bought a few bottles during the sale. One bottle, Velociraptor, was really hard to apply and I left a review on their site saying so. Customer service sent me an email telling me they would refund the cost of the polish I wasn’t happy with - and did so very quickly. I’ll probably buy from them again, but will read reviews more closely. As always, I really enjoy hearing your thoughts on polishes!
You're welcome! 😁 It sucks that they have some bad formulas, I mean that's to be expected, they can't all be perfect, but they should at least work on fixing the issue before they continue selling them.
You are hilarious - loved watching this video. I own a bunch of Mooncat polishes, and their formulas really are hit and miss. I'm sure someone has mentioned this, but their customer service is very good - I bet they'll replace or refund Stumped and Access Denied if you ask. Also, if you have any of the Cupcake Polish replacement fan brushes, they fit in Mooncat bottles, and I used them to replace all of the crappy old MC brushes in the polishes I got before they switched to the new one. That old brush SUCKED (I'm just as picky as you are when it comes to brushes). FWIW, I would love to see a video where you show your polishing technique - your application always looks perfect, and your videos always make me want to go back to short nails!
Thank you so much! 😊 I did read quite a few people saying that I should email them. So I actually just sent an email. I just did my first live Swatch video but I only had two polishes in that video and it was mostly just to show the formula. Not really how I paint my nails with any tips. I'm wanting to do some more live swatches and get comfortable painting while filming and then I would love to do some tips and tricks in the future. 😊
I realize that some polishes out there are only 10, 11, or 12 ml and the colours are gorgeous but the amount is so low and the price is so freaking high that that is when I opt out of buying. When I buy from Polish Pickup the amount of nail polish present in the bottle is a deciding factor for me to buy or not to buy. First I look at the color and then on the amount in the bottle and that narrows down the list for me significantly.
Oh I 100% agree. I have yet to buy a Polish that is 10 mils. That is just so tough to pull the trigger on that purchase when it is that small and still costs $14 😱 But I am obsessed and that makes you do silly things. 🤪
Thank you for your honest opinion! ❤ 👏 I was thinking of trying MC for a while now, but I was hesitant due to the price. I'm very picky with polish brands. I expect a very good product when I'm spending this amount of coin. Formula is a huge deal breaker for me. There are brands, whether mainstream or couture/indie that have consistent formulas. I have heard mixed reviews with MC. I'm still going to put in an order to try for myself. I just want to applaud you for your opinion. I'm extremely hesitant with buying with all these "PR" polish reviews. Some reviewers seem to never have one bad thing to say about sponsors or PR stuff. Makes me wonder how truthful they are. 🤔😒
Thank you 😊 I know what you're saying. I like to watch the channels that get PR so I could see the Polish live swatch and see what it looks like on different skin tones, things like that. I don't always pay attention to everything they say
SAME!!!! I have had the same experience with this brand. Some polishes are great and some have a terrible formula. Some I had to put thinner in when I opened them! At this price point, the formula should be consistent and easy to use. I see many beautiful polishes at MC, but I tend to spend my dollars with other indie brands.
A Polish should definitely be at its very best the day you get it. I do like to dabble in all kinds of brands but I spend the chunk of my money on my favourites 😊
I have been really lucky with all my Mooncat polishes so far. They have all arrived safe and sound plus the quality of the polishes has been very good. I still have quite a few to test out though..... One package did go missing but as soon as I informed Mooncat, they sent out another one straight away so excellent customer service. My Stumped polish is fine and I haven't tried House Of Hades. I do have an Access Denied in an old bottle though so will need to test that. I appreciate honest reviews as I do the same thing.
@@tricksandtreats6975 I am pretty surprised at how fast their customer service got back to me. It sucks that you have an old access denied. that brush really does suck and they don't sell the replacement brushes individually. But if you contact them maybe they'll just send you one brush or replace the bottle depending on how long ago you bought it I guess
@@OneUpAnnie lol this was so good!! I've had people in the comments try to say it's my fault for the bad application. Some people just want to talk you into their beliefs. But girl I got you, when it's good it's good, but when it's bad I'm going to talk about it.
When you were talking about the nail file, I came straight to the comments to tell you about the Germanicure file. I can't wait to see what you think... it is my favorite. I have the travel size too. Love the leather sleeve. I've never bought Mooncat and appreciate your honest review.😊
I'm so glad you love the file. I've been getting a few comments saying how much people love those files, but I've never seen anybody talk about it in their haul videos. I'm definitely excited to get it! 🙃
@@elineplantinga2605 oh no problem at all! I usually talk about what I'm wearing in the video, but i think I was trying to get my thoughts together. I don't usually do a full review on a brand like this
I truly appreciate you honestly. I just purchased my first nail polishes from MC also and I thought that some of them were great, but I didn’t know if they were worth all the hype. I look forward to your next video.
Thank you!😊 I think if you're a fan of the brand and it makes you happy then definitely buy them. But if all you want is simply a great nail polish there's other brands out there to choose from. It seems to me that some of the hype is a little unwarranted
The last thing I need is to start collecting another brand but I've decided to just indulge during their sales twice a year... I've been happy with the ones I've purchased, especially full scream ahead. I did get house of hades and liked it... Even though I already had other cobalts. Thanks for your review!
Yeah that's what I was thinking I would do. I hear that they have a sale twice a year so I'll probably be making purchases around that time but not necessarily trying to purchase from every release throughout the year like I do with some of my favorite brands.
Thanks for your HONEST review!! So much hype around House of Hades and I hated the formula 🤬 flight of the monarchs was a weird formula, felt almost dry to apply on my nails and it bubbled on my right hand. Merkitten has been my only favorite. I still need to try 2 more polishes but Im holding off on trying them for now. Not impressed. And can we talk about how they cost $15-16?!?
You're welcome!! 😁 When you said flight of the monarch was almost dry. I was saying, yeeess out loud. It wasn't that it dried too fast. It was almost powder consistency. Very strange 🤔
Jennifer, your honesty is sooo refreshing. You give us the straight scoop. I love being able to make an informed decision. I just wish this video came out before the Mooncat sale.😂
I’ve only ordered Mooncat once from their last sale, I also had some points to use from the LLP days and got 2 freebies. I’m mostly happy with all of them, but have not worn any just swatched. I think they are overhyped so I probably won’t be ordering again soon. I was also so looking forward to House of Hades but I feel like I had the same issue, of it being so sheer and the polish dragged and didn’t seem smooth, I may use it in 2 coats over a cream purple or blue polish.
Yes, that might work for you using it over a different polish. I have had some success with other polishes in that way. I've also had some fails but just playing around with the Swatch rule is fun. 😊
This was such a good, thorough review!⚡Out of the polishes mentioned, I only own House of Hades and had the same experience as you, I put up with it because I really do love the color although there a few things I would change about their brush and formula
@@KaetheStephanie I don't have anything like House of Hades, that formula though 🤔 I've been on the lookout since I've worn that color, to see if I can find a dupe for it from another brand with a better formula. I haven't seen anything that can dupe. I mean there's definitely some beautiful bright blues. but they're not the same.
Love the unfiltered review complete with frustration trying to let the viewer know the experience you had . I laughed at each of your bad reviews but very refreshing to hear the honest truth. Too many gush about the brand trying to get on the PR list. Have 5 bottles 2 are horrible formula so MC is a pass for me at that price to have that many bad polishes.
I would love to be on their PR list, but i would never say something I don't believe just to do so. The whole point of why I'm here is to be honest and talk to you about nail polish 😊 Making friends in the nail polish community is what I'm here 🤗
@@strawbaby444 I'll definitely put some thinner in there to help with the consistency, but the shade Is so much darker than it should be. I do like dark polishes so I'm sure I'll get use out of it.
@@JenniferDufoe I think a lot of their older polishes are inconsistent like that unfortunately. I got ultrahot recently and was so confused by the color lol
@@strawbaby444 The inconsistencies suck really bad and it shouldn't be happening, but I have to say the polishes that I do like, I really love them so I'm sure I'll be ordering again. It hasn't completely turned me against the brand, but it is something that shouldn't be happening 🤦♀️
“…dead hands, but in a good way!” 😂 Awesome! 🤣 I really appreciate your honest opinions and your deep dive into each polish you spoke about. I actually just recently purchased both Stumped and House of Hades and I’m curious (or maybe nervous) to know how my bottles stack up! 😬 I’ll be sure to let you know!
In my experience, if you get a bad brush, contact customer service and they will send you a replacement. And in some cases, they'll send you a handful. Brushes do not cost them any money relative to everything else so it's a problem most brands are happy to solve for you. Just be polite and accept if they say no, but I have replacement brushes now from most of the common brands people shop. And don't worry if you're 'bothering' them or asking too much. You are not. It's like buying a big milk shake and getting a broken straw and trying to awkwardly eat a milkshake with a fork instead of just asking for a new straw.
My Stumped was perfect! Not too thin or thick. It was brown. I bought it last fall. I wonder what's going on with quality control? 🤔 I've never had a bad Mooncat. I wonder why. Now I'm nervous! We live in the same place, so that variable is controlled. I do my nails fast, and like a fast dry formula. I clip and file my nails so there is little to no overhang or visible nail line. I wonder if these things change why I like Mooncat?
You picked up a Germanicure file it sounds like. They’re definitely quality files. I highly doubt mooncats is that good, but I guess you never know. I’m so not a fan of MC. I have 11 of them , the holo’s are absolutely gorgeous, I definitely agree with the hype around fake halo. I also have house of Hades, Shroomdon, pandemonium, Mer kitten. They’re pretty. But that’s it. They’re not special and they definitely don’t deserve the price tag! I will only ever buy from a sale, if I even do that.
I like enough of these nail polishes that I probably will be purchasing again but like you said only from a sale. I hear there's two sale a year and that's when I will be checking them out again. most likely 🤣
I agree, I have maybe 10 polishes from them, and I skipped the last sale. I probably won’t be buying any more. I’m not at all impressed with the latest collection, powerpuff girls? they are sheer flaky jellies. All the money is in the marketing and the packaging.
@@Diametricallyopposed00 oh my gosh the packaging is amazing! If someone is a Powerpuff fan I could see them falling in love with that packaging so fast. But I totally agree. The nail polishes are nothing super special. The polishes are cute but not as amazing as all that packaging
Also, one of my bottles arrived broken, but they immediately sent a replacement out. I guess I should say Merkitten and Midsummer’s Dream that I also bought were wonderful formulas. But, I bought my first holo from them (Not Today Satan) and it was also a weird formula. Overall, I still have mixed feelings.
Love your face in the thumbnail! 😂 Mooncat is waaay outta my price range. I recently bought 5 during their sale because 12ml for $15‐$16 is a bit much to pay, especially with the inconsistencies. Flight of the Monarchs is a great as a topper. 😊
Thank you! 😄 definitely glad I got these on a sale. I'm really happy with some of the polishes I got and I'm definitely going to try flight of the monarchs as a topper for a couple of my lighter Polishes. I really do like the orange shimmer
Oh I'm so glad you like that file from hhc. I've never heard anybody talk about that file. I've just overlooked it for so long, but now that I've tried a good file I can never go back to cheap files again. My standards have been raised 💁♀️
Oh my gosh, I also bought House of Hades in the sale and I was so excited about it. But, I also hated the application! I had to redo a couple nails and ended up leaving a couple fingers in two coats, and it was messy! I had the opposite issue with drying, mine took forever to dry even with QDTC. I was thinking it was just me, so I feel justified after hearing you had issues. 🤣
I'm so happy you feel justified. There's so many people only wanting to say the good about this brand. That is so weird that you had the opposite issue with hoh. They put all the drying agents in my batch and left them out in yours 😜
I have only purchased MC during their sale. I think the brand has its die hard fans like HT. I’m not really a fan of either but I have my own brands I’m fanatical about. The inconsistency is a big negative. I am a big fan of the germikure nail files & have a few.
I totally agree!! if you are a super fan of mooncat, there's nothing wrong with that. I'm a super fan of cuticula. But I do not want to fight you if you don't like cuticula 🤣 Oh I'm so glad you like the nail files! I'm pretty excited about getting. It sucks that I have to wait so long cuz they're adding it to my my hhc order
After a few of these comments, I definitely am considering sending them an email. We'll see if I do it. I definitely will make a follow-up and share what happened 🤷♀️
I feel the exact same way about mooncat. I have about 10 polishes from them and can’t say that any of them have really wowed me, so I don’t get the hype. And receiving that old bottle with the old brush would piss me off. I probably would have emailed customer service and requested them to send me a replacement brush at the very least.
@@winnies2393 I've actually got quite a few comments saying that they emailed the company and they tried to rectify the situation. so I emailed them and they're sending me replacement polishes. So I will definitely be doing an updated video on that. Although sending me new bottles is pretty good, they also need to be working on batch consistencies
This echoes the experience I've had with 8 of their polishes. The ideas are so cool but I'm definitely turned off by the fact that I've had to thin out all of them after one use (and some I should've thinned out before the first use). After thinning, the consistency is where I want it to be but I shouldn't have to do that... For reference, Cirque Colors is my favorite formula.
I also fell for the hype for house of hades as well and had a terrible experience with the formula. Fortunately, it's a pretty common polish combination in the indie space, so I've found a few better dupes and have destashed the Mooncat.
I am actually wearing stumped right now lol. That was not my experience either she got a bad batch or I got a really good one lol. I got full coverage in 2 coats. Did notice the color does change depending on what you are wearing. Color theory ❤
@@brookemills1104 Maybe they got a bad mixer. Their giant mixer is not mixing their tubs right 🤪 It seems odd because wouldn't all the ingredients be measured out. Who knows 🤷♀️
Such a strange experience with HoH! I got it looking fully opaque in two coats and didn’t have any issues with application. Maybe try working with more polish on your brush/thicker coats?
There are definitely ways to manipulate the Polish and work around different issues. I will do that the next time I wear this polish. But I still wanted to share the struggles I was having so people are either aware of how bad the formula is or so that people are aware that there are batch inconsistencies 😊
Mooncat lover here! I’ve been buying from MC for almost a year now and I’ve only gotten slightly burned with my most recent purchase during their sale with one polish that was just a bit too thick and gummy. Of course I have nail polish thinner but for the price why are we as customers fixing their mistakes?? All my other polishes from them have been amazing formula wise. Their polishes I think are pretty much all quick drying as well which I personally love and have had no issues with application even with the thicker flaky bombs like Stumped and HoH. I’m guessing I’m one of the lucky ones unfortunately, I hate that the brand has so many inconsistency’s which is so weird considering they’re a pretty successful brand you’d think they’d have these issues behind them 🤔
I do find it weird that the polishes that seem to have pretty drastic batch inconsistencies are some of the polishes they've been selling for a very long time. 🤔 But it seems like for most people probably me included the positives outweigh the negatives and will still continue to purchase, but it does suck 🙃
Flight of the Monarchs was so annoying to clean up (same issue with the shimmer), but when I saw my nails in the sun... that made it worth it to me. I was just mesmerized by the sparkles lol. I did immediately go to look up more reviews after applying it though, I thought it was so annoying
I'm definitely looking forward to wearing a flight of the monarchs outside. The sun is finally out and I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like out of my nail room 😀
Funnily, I bought Access Denied a few months before you and I got a new brush and box 😅 About Flight of the Monarchs - I was not sold on it once I applied it, buuuuut after a day of being unimpressed I popped a matte top coat on it and I was blown away! It changes the polish completely! The purple base shows through more and it is amazing 😍 highly recommend trying it 😊
Oh my goodness this makes me want to email them for sure. I got an old polish the one that was sitting in the way back. They just found it and put it in my order 😄 Oh, I've never seen a Swatch of a matte top coat on flight of the monarchs. I'm going to have to try that right away on a Swatch wheel 🤗
@@JenniferDufoe knowing their customer service I would be surprised if they don’t offer you a refund or a replacement. Good luck, I definitely think it’s worth trying to talk to them. 😊🤗
@@CandyCupcak3s I know, what a weird concept. Batch inconsistencies should certainly be addressed. The good news is, it sounds like from the comments their customer service is great. So you could email them if you get a bad one, but It would be better If you didn't have to worry about that stuff and they have great customer service 🤔
@@JenniferDufoe Yeah, at least they got that going on for them. I have ordered from them before, and I have had mostly good luck with my picks. But that one polish being so different for three different people… I will be giving up on that shade. I will look for a brown flakie elsewhere!
@@CandyCupcak3s I feel like neutrals are becoming pretty big Right now. I'm definitely seeing a lot of them and getting excited about browns. So I bet you this is going to be the year you're going to have plenty of options for brown flakies 🤎
I have a lot of mooncats. I'd say 80% of them are 🤌 15% meh and 5% bad. The newer polishes are def better imo and the older ones are risky. So sorry about house of hadies & access denied! You should email customer service! And sounds like stumped maybe needs a few drops of thinner?
I've been considering emailing them, Maybe I should. I'm definitely going to put some thinner in stumped but I wanted to use it as is so I can get a true feel of the formula that they are shipping out. even though my stump is way darker than that as advertised. I still do think it's beautiful and will be great during the fall
You're welcome! Don't the inconsistencies just seem outrageous, when I think about swatches of stump and I look at mine it just blows my mind how different they are 🤔 But I guess they all can't be winners 😝
@@JenniferDufoe for the price i definitely expect way more consistency that’s for sure! I will say the one time i got annoyed enough to write a polish a bad review they instantly refunded me for it 😳 so i think their strategy is, let the problems go and have strong customer service backup. The higher prices can absorb things like batch issues and bottles exploding in the mail. I still don’t find it acceptable at $15 for 12ml they should at the very least look like the swatch photo and all be the same color 😆 I’ve seen HOH that were straight purple though mine is like yours blue and gloopy. Who knows 🤷♀️🤷♀️ the PPG collection got me anyway so wish me luck xx

No purchase it it's a beautiful color the purple is on the edge of the nails you see it I have it no problem maybe it's her environment a/c vent, fan etc.
@@paulaburr6055 It's definitely not my environment. I have a nail room that has a very consistent low airflow when I'm doing all my polishes. If your house of Hades has a better formula, It's because of batch inconsistencies. You simply just have a better batch than I've received
Dead hands. Lol. That's a bummer Stumped is so inconsistent. It's been on my wishlist for a while, specifically because the swatches remind me of that NOL Bigfoot polish. So weird that your Access Denied has the old brush. I got mine in January and it has the new brush. They should send you a replacement for free. Germanikure! They're made of out Czech crystal. Amazing file and their cuticle pusher was a game changer for me.
@@nerdlovesnails that's crazy that you got access denied in January and got a new brush. I emailed them about the 3 bottles I had issues with. I think I will be doing a part 2 review.
I hate their old brush, it made application very difficult. The new brush came along during their prehistoric collection I believe, they never changed the brush on the polishes before the prehistoric collection. Not sure at what point the older polishes will get the new brush tho. I did end up getting the new brushes as a reward option at one point and changed all my oldies with the new brush and it was much more tolerable.
@@yonolo at this point it seems like most of all that old polish has been sold and the new brushes are being put in all the bottles. Somebody else commented that they ordered excess denied 3 months before I did and they got the new brush. So the only thing that makes sense is that my bottle had been sitting around for a long time. I wouldn't mind just buying a replacement brush if I could buy one with my next order. 🙂
It's definitely a mixed review, some of them were amazing but the bad ones are so irritating and we can find amazing nail polishes without the batch inconsistency from other brands
It kind of seems like people are in love with the branding and how it's so different. I mean I understand if you're attracted to all that stuff. It is cool, but I also need some consistency 😝
I think it's part of why this color is so special. There is definitely some kind of magic in the dimension of the Polish. It just sucks that it has to be such a bad formula, although I am hearing other people don't have as bad of a problem as me. So it's always possible a different bottle can be easier to use 🤷♀️
I have only purchased from them once. I dont remember the name of it since i decluttered it, that should tell you how i felt about it 😂. The reason was that it was not the shade i thought it was going to be. In the promo picture it looked a certain way and i liked how it looked so i bought it but when i actually applied it it was nothing how it was in the promo and i didnt like how it looked on me. Ive been tempted by a few colors, but then i think, man, i dont want to pay $15 for something im not sure im going to like. So i pass on it.
There's a lot of choices out here for good polishes these days so if somebody is questioning if it's worth it or not, might as well put your money to a brand you really love 💖
Its such a shame bc they have the boldest, most crazy colors I've ever seen. 100% my style. But the formula is too thick for my taste. Almost goopy. I've thinned my Mooncats down with nail polish thinner, now they're fine to use.
@@_Obey_ I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way you do. Mooncat as a brand fits their style. So maybe that makes people have loyalty to the maker. It's not a bad thing, especially If it makes you happy, it's just not my thing. I do love most the polishes I got based on the quality of the Polish 😊
Kind of is a hard decision because there are some really bad ones but then there's also some really amazing ones. But how do you even know, especially if they change by batch not by color. 🤷♀️
It's definitely one of my pet peeves. I don't mind buying replacement brushes when it's possible, but at this point in the game we know the majority of us all want a nice paddle brush. So just give it to us people 😀

I wanted to try them too and had ordered 7 of them: three creams, Rue Morgue, Mercury Tears, a shimmer similar to Flight of Monarchs and a sheer duochrome with some micro glitter. 4 of them „unlevelled“ themselves over the course of a day, aka dried smooth and after a few hours I saw ripples on my nails (I did try over various Base- Topcoats that work fine as „supporting system“ to all my other polishes). My guess is that this is a body chemistry issue. With not being able to say which formula causes this, I don‘t buy from them. I guess it is a strategic decision where you put the money in: collabs (to my knowledge they cost an arm and a leg) and packaging or the product itself. To me it matters what‘s inside the bottle 😌. I can appreciate a good marketing campaign and a nice box but I never collected any. 🤗🫶🏻
I'm glad you were entertained 😁 😚 I've actually been wondering about something like that as well. Like is the company getting too big and they're not being able to have good enough quality control because they're putting their money elsewhere.
@@JenniferDufoe that's how it should be! 🤣
I'm going to have to show this to my husband 😀
I've noticed there's quite a few people that specifically only purchase from this brand, their entire nail rack is mooncat. I do think that's strange when there's a lot of great polishes out there. But on the other hand, some people just become really in love with something and they want to support that to the fullest, and I guess I understand that as well. 🙂
This is why i will always continue to watch your videos, such an honest & pure review. I see no ill will, just a gal giving her honest opinion on something she loves, nail polish 🥰
Also mooncat costs sooo much im glad to kno these things before considering a purchase ❤❤ thank you thank you 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you so much!! 😚
I'm just a girl that wants to sit here and chat about nail polish with you 🤗
Mooncat never tickled my fancy & I always felt so alone in that so it was nice to hear your thoughts in this vid!
There definitely are so many good brands to shop from! We can pick and choose where we want to shop and still have amazing polishes ☺️
Thank you 😊
I love that movie and I especially love that crazy lady and her dog 😂🐕
I concur great polishes
I'm glad it helped. I definitely wanted to take my time and get a real opinion on the brand. That way it can help others decide if they want to spend their money. 🙂
TY 🙏🏽 This supports my decision to find dupes of some of the colors that I like from the brand. I’d definitely be the one to knock over the bottle as I was painting too. 🙅🏻♀️
It’s funny that this came out right as their new collection did too.
Thank you sweet friend 😚 I wonder if the company is getting so big and It's getting harder for them to control their quality and consistency. 🤷♀️
I guess don’t need to change anything because people keep buying and defending them anyway. And it’s not even a small brand with handmade products.
Thank you! ☺️ I have heard that about the refund, I probably should email them. I mean what do I have to lose and I may get my money back. 🤷♀️
Thank you for your honest review! You are not the only person who has told me that they had issues with their formula.
You're welcome! 😁 It sucks that they have some bad formulas, I mean that's to be expected, they can't all be perfect, but they should at least work on fixing the issue before they continue selling them.
@@JenniferDufoe agreed!!
Thank you 😊
I know what you're saying.
Instant sub, im a grumpy polish collector and i feel seen 🥲

I don't usually do a full review on a brand like this
@@JenniferDufoe Aah okay. Keep going like this. I loved the video 🥰
Thanks for your opinion .❤
🤗
Thanks for always giving an in depth review.
You're welcome! I am happy to help 😚
Oh my goodness! I definitely get wrapped up in sales. There's just so few in the nail polish world that it's so exciting when it happens 😃
The whole point of why I'm here is to be honest and talk to you about nail polish 😊 Making friends in the nail polish community is what I'm here 🤗
in my experience a lot of mooncats polishes come to me needing thinner. stumped was one of them for me
@@strawbaby444 I'll definitely put some thinner in there to help with the consistency, but the shade Is so much darker than it should be.
LOVE the honesty
@@neyisek6928 thank you 😊
“…dead hands, but in a good way!” 😂 Awesome! 🤣 I really appreciate your honest opinions and your deep dive into each polish you spoke about. I actually just recently purchased both Stumped and House of Hades and I’m curious (or maybe nervous) to know how my bottles stack up! 😬 I’ll be sure to let you know!
Oh I am definitely curious to know what you think about those and also what shade of brown is your stumped? 🤔
I have to use thinner on some of the polishes I bought from them. I love the look of stumped but it’s too thick
@@tracyaf6084 I will definitely put some thinner in stumped.
@@GlassShark86 😆 I did reach out to customer service. They replaced the bottles that I had issues with. I did an update video on it.
My Stumped was perfect! Not too thin or thick. It was brown. I bought it last fall. I wonder what's going on with quality control? 🤔
I've never had a bad Mooncat. I wonder why. Now I'm nervous! We live in the same place, so that variable is controlled.
I do my nails fast, and like a fast dry formula. I clip and file my nails so there is little to no overhang or visible nail line. I wonder if these things change why I like Mooncat?
BTW I'm now subbed. You're my kinda reviewer. I never trust photos, just videos.
Thanks for this video ❤
My pleasure 😊
Loved your video, as always. I have only tried a handful of the polishes I purchased and have been lucky enough to get decent formulas so far.. 🤞🏽🤞🏽
Thank you!! 😚 The good ones were soooo good 😊 over time I'm sure the good will outweigh the bad and I'll make another purchase on their next sale 😜
Side note-glad I’m not the only one who has to have a file by my couch. 😉
Same 😄
Love your face in the thumbnail!
The Germanicure file that HHC sells is a great file! I would send Mooncat an email about the bad brush.
I’ve had it with Mooncat. I’ve had too many problems with them. Only good thing is you can usually get your money back
I have had quite a few comments saying that today. I'm definitely considered sending them an email about the couple bad ones I had
But I do not want to fight you if you don't like cuticula 🤣
Oh I'm so glad you like the nail files!

@@JenniferDufoe 100% agree!! Glad they are hopefully fixing it for you but there shouldn’t be so many issues in one single order.
@@tigermelissa good thing we have so many good options these days 😉
I also fell for the hype for house of hades as well and had a terrible experience with the formula. Fortunately, it's a pretty common polish combination in the indie space, so I've found a few better dupes and have destashed the Mooncat.
I'm happy you found a dupe for it!! 😊 I don't have anything like it in my collection so I will be keeping it until I find something better
Same for me! Mine applies so easily and is so so gorgeous.
There are definitely ways to manipulate the Polish and work around different issues. I will do that the next time I wear this polish. But I still wanted to share the struggles I was having so people are either aware of how bad the formula is or so that people are aware that there are batch inconsistencies 😊
@@JenniferDufoeMy experience was similar to yours. I love the color but not the formula.
Without a doubt, the color is awesome and I don't personally own anything like it in my collection, that formula though 😝
Funnily, I bought Access Denied a few months before you and I got a new brush and box 😅
About Flight of the Monarchs - I was not sold on it once I applied it, buuuuut after a day of being unimpressed I popped a matte top coat on it and I was blown away! It changes the polish completely! The purple base shows through more and it is amazing 😍 highly recommend trying it 😊
Oh my goodness this makes me want to email them for sure. I got an old polish the one that was sitting in the way back. They just found it and put it in my order 😄

@@ambitionroad 😂 Good luck girl! 🤞 No jk
I still stand by if it makes you happy and you can afford it. Then definitely go for it. I mean it's all about fun at the end of the day. I think the reviews really matter for the people who are really trying to stick to a certain amount of polishes and not over consume, so my videos are not meant for me LOL 😆
now i will never buy house of hades lol
love your description of the polishes it was so entertaining 😄
No purchase it it's a beautiful color the purple is on the edge of the nails you see it I have it no problem maybe it's her environment a/c vent, fan etc.
I'm so glad you liked it!!! I want to be informative, but still fun. thank you 😄
@@paulaburr6055 It's definitely not my environment.
Mooncat is way too expensive to have all those issues!
@@KzooBeerGirl for sure! And polishes that have been in rotation for so long should be perfected by now.
Seen the inconsistencies too many times to ever buy from them
It's definitely a mixed review, some of them were amazing but the bad ones are so irritating and we can find amazing nail polishes without the batch inconsistency from other brands
Some of these are so pretty but I just don’t understand the hype of this brand! There is zero consistency between the polishes.
It kind of seems like people are in love with the branding and how it's so different. I mean I understand if you're attracted to all that stuff. It is cool, but I also need some consistency 😝
I see the purple on the edges of flight of monarchs it's there barely lol
I think it's part of why this color is so special. There is definitely some kind of magic in the dimension of the Polish. It just sucks that it has to be such a bad formula, although I am hearing other people don't have as bad of a problem as me. So it's always possible a different bottle can be easier to use 🤷♀️
@@JenniferDufoe Mooncat needs to fix that asap the polishes ate too expensive for that I would get in contact with them asap
Can’t bite the bullet on them yet.
Kind of is a hard decision because there are some really bad ones but then there's also some really amazing ones. But how do you even know, especially if they change by batch not by color. 🤷♀️
@@JenniferDufoe Yeah. Trust issues. 😁
I hate bad brushes!! I won’t buy if the brushes stink.
It's definitely one of my pet peeves. I don't mind buying replacement brushes when it's possible, but at this point in the game we know the majority of us all want a nice paddle brush. So just give it to us people 😀
I was so curious for your Mooncat Review and am stoked, we got #jenniferonaroll 😜🤗🖤. Thank you for taking the time to do this „field study“ and your honest review. You and Jackie are the only YT creators I watch who gave a thorough feedback. 🤗🫶🏻
I'm glad you were entertained 😁 😚
I've actually been wondering about something like that as well. Like is the company getting too big and they're not being able to have good enough quality control because they're putting their money elsewhere.
