    I guess changing the flash mechanism would be the best and leaving the rest untouched would balance her out… it’s not reyna that is terrorising the lower ranks it’s smurfs.

      Reyna isn't unbalanced. She just shouldn't be in the game due to how poorly her design fits into the game, i mean come on what we're they thinking at riot games when they decided to add a character that is by design selfish and unhelpful in team play besides just being another gun and the worst flash in the game unless paired with another flash that's actually good.

      people say this without realizing that 99% of people that play ranked no matter what agent they play, are selfish and usually unimpactful, people just hate reyna bc they dislike reynas they verse who are mechanically superior to them. Im imm1 atm and have played my fair share of reyna/raze/jett aswell as smokes, and i can say that mostly the team is uncoordinated anyways, so in comp the movement abilities of raze and jett aren't as strong because teams dont understand that they need to follow their duelist, and help initiate/ fight.

      ⁠@@randominternetuser72nope. Most people in ranked, unless they’re in iron/new players, always try to use the utility they have purchased and people usually buy their utility.
      But Reyna only provides anything to the team if the person who is playing her is absolutely popping off which they never are in ranked.
      Even if it’s uncoordinated, Jett has good smokes, amazing movement and a great ult while Raze has the boombot to clear corners/get space, satchels for movement and ROZA. Meanwhile, if Reyna isn’t popping off/smurfing, she ain’t doing shit for the team. Even if they are uncoordinated messes like Ranked usually is.

      @@randominternetuser72 so like smokes dont do anything for your team even if they use their abilities yeah sure fr fr.... you know you can still be helpful to your team with your abilities even if they're uncoordinated right? coordination just makes it better. Besides, my point of her DESIGN being the problem still stands completely fine, because all of the other agents abilities can be used to help your teammates or make plays with unlike reyna. Well, not all agents chamber is also really selfish but we're not discussing that rn.

    Honestly props to the editing, the style & pace.. very digestible video. I could totally see a beginner at Val understand all of the points of this video.
    Also the theoretical synergy of reyna + harbor sounds super interstin. What would happen if PRX used the LOUD comp but replaced the jett for reyna? seems like itd be great lmaom

    I think another reason Paper Rex works well with Reyna is that they always use Skye, and they use maps that can benefit from Reyna.
    1. Ascent is a good example where they can use Reyna, as usually it is a simple map with a lot of open space. It can capitalize of Reyna's flashes for fast takes. Complimenting Paper Rex's aggressive playstyle. While on Pearl, they use Phoenix as it has a lot of close corners that Phoenix's flash can capitalize on (and his wall can cut off space, especially in open spaces such as B site.)
    2. Other than harbor, Skye is also used. It is because Reyna's flash can force players to look at the flash and Skye can flash the enemy team. Essentially making a flash that cannot be countered. Look, get flashed. Turn around, you'll be killed by Paper Rex.

      This! PRX almost always exclusively use Reyna in combination with Skye. The Skye Flash+Leer combo is unbeatable and basically forces you to retreat if you already know it's coming. Combined with PRX's teamwork and aggressiveness, you basically get a deathball pushing into your face.

    Outstanding job on this video, extremely well edited and engaging. As someone who is admittedly a reyna instalock atm I have no answers for your last question, and I even think cycling her out completely would be good for the game's overall health. If you want to be helpful on site pushes while on attack your leer absolutely has to be paired with another flash to have any sort of fighting chance at being a productive entry during an exec.

      yeah, the way her abilities work simply dont have enough to go off for a rework to even be like, possible without it just becoming a completely different character. The problem will never be the balance of reyna, she's actually decently balanced but because she is one of the 2 agents that you simply cannot play off in any meaningful way that's more than like swinging off them, she results in selfish play. Sadly, that selfish play is by design and promotes unhealthy play that ends up damaging the game over all.

    I feel like here ability to destroy lower ranks comes from the healing mechanic.
    In lower ranks players have worse aim and often count on enemies being just as bad, or having been hit before. When Reyna players, especially in low ranks, have better aim then their enemies, the chances of players getting a kill on her shrinks so far that she starts dominating the game as she can hit her enemies sooner and more precise while also being able to heal back to full health after getting a kill.
    But in higher ranks, where the gaps between the players aim gets smaller, she looses all of her advantages as her abilities become more and more useless. An idea to fix this issue would be removing her ability to heal, giving her a new ability and buffing her dismiss, but leaving the automatic heal that comes with her Ult.
    We could buff Reynas movement speed while she dismisses and consider making it so she doesnt need a kill for it. While she is in her Ult, a kill could grand a health boost that is slower than it is now. As for a new ability to take the place of the self heal, i dont have anything figured out

    Could try and make her kit a bit more similar to the other agents from a design perspective. She has her own role and playstyle so i wouldn't change her kit radically.
    But one thing that is problematic for reyna is her complete dependency on kills, that make her less consistent than other agents. Something that would make her more consistent, for everybody and pro play as well would be to make her E (the dismiss) be an ability she can always use, and doesnt require a kill. This is her default ability that she has and that is recharged after 2 kills, like any other duelist. Her Q (the heal) would still work like it used to, requiring a kill to be activated, so we can keep the orbs and overall her narrative intact.
    For the ult, it would basically work the exact same way it does now but one little thing it could do to accomodate for the new E is when it gets popped, it refreshes the E cooldown. But thats it. No more dismiss on kill. This will make her rhythm completely change. From going to 1 kill > dismiss to going from 2 kills > possibly dismiss. Her playstyle will be intact but this should also add more ways for reyna players to manuever her with more freedom.
    They could take angles with less risk of being killed, they could just be scouting for enemies completely in the open and dismissing as soon as they see them etc.. etc...

      nah thats fucking op
      thats essentially a skye dog/sova drone (except even faster) but for free every round and can be recharged? and not only does that act as an info gathering tool but you can also get a free kill if you catch someone off guard with no consequences
      and unlike chamber tp/jett dash, you cant kill reyna mid ability, because once she dismisses she dismisses and doesnt take damage

      Finally someone who talks sense, there's not a single duelist that doesn't have the two kills spell reset... EXCEPT REYNA. But why? It just doesn't make sense... unless they wanted to try something new, and it just failed miserably obviously. It's super annoying at low elo and super useless/selfish at high elo.
      Chamber has a similar issue, he's not good for smurfing so he's not hated but that agent has literally no utility for his team except guns (???)

      To balance it she can have 1 free dismiss a round and 1 dismiss refresh per round and infinite heals per round and she cant stack 2 dismiss uses aswell except on ult it would make her less snowbally and provide more util as a drone aswell as being unique and not force her to be kill dependant for everything

    I mean to be honest i like reyna a lot, the last buff they gave him was to make her leer blind from any distance but is not really that impactful because it doesnt have a really long range cast, i think a good buff that can incorporate her into proplay as well will be that his leer work kinda like a omen smoke, when you can choose how far the leer will cast just to more room to teamplay but otherwise i think she is perfect

    Her flash should have a 2 Mode:
    > Leer: 1 second duration. 100HP NEARSIGHT enemies for 0.5 second
    > Fake Leer: 1 second duration: 100HP Doesn't NEARSIGHT but if get's shot blinds the enemies for 1 second

    I agree with everyone else saying the editing is super good. You may wanna spell check the captions that you put into your own video though.
    Examples include:
    4:12 "Jett, Raze, Neon, and even some cases Yoru" instead of "jet raised neon and even some cases Yoru"
    4:42 "and requires" instead of "and or cause"
    Missing punctuation, mostly commas, or excessive punctuation like at 6:22.

    To make Reyna’s interactions seem less selfish overall:
    -Leer applies a status called ‘fear’/‘intimidation’ which obscures the minimap, adds a slight tunnel vision effect, and muffles sounds. Fear is applied upon looking at the eye and goes away gradually, independent of whether the eye is active and applying nearsight. Leer eyes have a shorter lifespan.
    -Soul orbs can now be shot by the enemy team. Soul orbs take 100 hp to break, and soul orbs which are being devoured are similarly destructible. Soul orbs being used by devour stop healing when broken. Soul orbs can be picked up by Reyna and used to replenish her leers, like ultimate orbs.
    -Reyna’s ult applies ‘fear’/‘intimidation’ in a radius around her, denying the enemy team information when she uses her ultimate. The amount of time that kills extend Reyna’s ultimate is slightly increased.
    Reyna now operates better as a duelist in a similar niche as Yoru, operating to confuse the enemy team, especially against uneven/solo defensive coverages. Sentinels holding a site by themselves are now put under more pressure after having ‘fear’ applied. ‘Fear’ has diminishing returns against a stacked site for Reyna individually, but ‘fear’ allows for Reyna to have better team synergy. Reyna’s utility benefits team engagements by decreasing the information that the enemy team has about Reyna’s team’s map presence, and Reyna’s utility overall encourages team play with short guerrila-style skirmishes. These rewards from this expanded utility are reaped by strategic team play and not necessarily by selfish play from Reyna. Reyna has increased synergy with Gekko because of the play style her modified utility incentivizes.

      @@jinko17broIt might not, but I’m hoping the following three related points might argue that it would benefit pro play:
      -The new status effect blocks minimap view and muffles sounds, limiting the amount of information that enemy players can receive. While pro players are effective at communicating, they also need to operate with as much information as possible (and rely on their minimap) and players that have the new applied status require more information from their teammates and can provide less information in return which may slow down the progress and lessen the effectiveness of the team overall.
      -The new status effect doesn’t directly create space on the site it was used, but it does provide increased opportunity to create space elsewhere on the map. For the reasons mentioned in point one, enemy players with this status effect applied are an information drain, and slow down the progress of the enemy team to react to rotates and splits.
      -The new interactions that players have with Reyna’s soul orbs, namely enemy players can break them and Reyna can use them to replenish her leers, may lead to interesting play and counter play. I’m hoping that this type of interactions leads pro teams to capitalize on strategies with Gekko to create plays with much more average site hits per round (Gekko is under utilized at the moment) which should add more variety to the compositions that pro players employ and need to be aware of from their opposition.

      I think giving information about the enemy positions might benefit players who act solo and seek to gamble for multi-kills. I think one of the goals of these changes was to prevent any buffs which would increase the prevalence of this play style, and so buffs need to be constrained to those which provide benefit for Reyna to her self or her team but do not result in a great deal more kill potential.
      I also think that we should buff the leer and, in exchange, shorten the duration that it near sights. I think the proposed changes, including being able to use soul orbs to replenish leers, should add consistent utility that benefits the entire team which does not necessarily create more kill potential for Reyna.

    Maybe if the eye had like 150 hp and lasted a bit longer it would be more useful in team play? Especially if paired with a flash. Also if she could only heal her actual HP and no armor or maybe even channel her heal back to an ally? And her ult would keep the shield overheal so it would be that much better, well, kinda. But the shield heal would still need tweaking, so as you know she heals 100 hp over all, but maybe the shield healing could take 'double energy' so like If she is 50 HP she would heal to 150 (including shield) but with this tweak she would only have 125.

    Nerf: she cant heal shields
    Buff: give her the option to buy a free Dismiss (200-300 Creds) so she can fall back even if she misses her shot, but if she gets a kill she keeps the free Dismiss.
    If she cant heal that much anymore she will be worse in lower rankes ,but the free dismiss should make her a better entry in the higher ranks because she can fall back easier if something goes wrong

      buff: wouldn't that just make her another prenerf Jett? arguably, chamber can still do that, but it's the only thing he can do really...
      and also, you have to think of attack. she'd essentially be getting a lesser Yoru ult every round, and would just be able to free check an angle, possibly setting someone up for a minimap frag. she could even do it through a smoke before an execute. it would counter operators, off angles, trap plays... she could go through a sentinel's trip, get info anywhere for free during defaults, etc... Essentially, anything Yoru can do when he ults.
      sounds quite busted to me!

    Video is well edited but I feel the points as to why she was bad could’ve been made in a much shorter amount of time with the same amount of information.
    Also would like to add that PRX like to combo Reyna flash with Skye flash to make even more space and chaos.

    Another point to the "Exception rule" is that her leer is strong when combined with a Skye flash.
    The enemy will either have to dodge the flash & end up getting killed while looking back OR the enemy will have to break the leer and end up getting flashed by the Skye (and eventually killed or backed off).

    Here's what I do to tune the agent for both ranked & pro-play:
    - Dismiss as has been mentioned around a lot should be longer and/or make you move a bit faster in it
    - To tweak the annoyance if playing with reyna in low ranks I'd nerf the healing from the Lifesteal (perhaps simply removing the overheal would work?)
    - The flash should be un-shootable and go on for a similar duration to omen's paranoia
    - The ult needs complete reworking. I'm not sure which direction they'd take it in but currently it is pretty close to the worst ult in the game (unless your aim is spot on).

      You already move slightly faster in dismiss, and making the leer unbreakable would be absurd. Flashes are balanced being unbreakable because they apply the effect a single time. Having a nearsight on anyone who tries to swing from ANY ANGLE for several seconds would just be ridiculous.

    Honstly, I think capping the heal to 125 instead of 150 could help. Buff the flash by making it 200-150 credits instead of 250. I can name multiple games where i didnt buy reyna flash because the enemies constantly shot it.
    The balance to this cost of the flash could be that it has 75 hp, but lasts a bit longer. I think it lasts a second and a half maybe two? Buff it hy about half a second or so. Another thing, reyna's ult is ok at best. Her fire rate is nice, but brim stim is a thing. It'd probably be smart to simply lower the fire rate, and in turn buff the healing aspect so its a little faster, or reyna has a little more time in dismiss. Something to make it worth a 7 point ult so she isnt just going on a frenzy constantly. Shes strong in low ranks, but thats because she hinges more on mechanical skill. Id say compared to her glory days, there isnt much of a difference. The nerfs did not do much to her pick rate, but her power level is still about the same.

    changing her flash is the only answer to make her viable for pro play while still keeping the root of reyna, i think making the flash like gekko except a nearsite where you throw it and it keeps traveling and bounces etc would be sick

    change dismiss into usable at all times, and with a longer startup time, change the whole meta from getting away to just entrying, use it before entrying, go onto site, invincible but still visible

    My reworrk idea:
    Devour
    - Nerf - No more overheal, it is broken and frustrating to play against 150hp Reyna on pistol rounds.
    Leer
    - Nerf - Blind 50hp down from 100, this game should reward good aim not good guns.
    - Buff - Blind duration increased to 10 seconds
    -(other people's idea) You can control how far the Blind lands like Omen smoke mechanic
    Dismiss
    - Buff - Dismiss is now an initiative ability, no need souls. Move faster and longer in dismiss
    - Nerf - Longer ability active delay and draw weapon delay, to avoid being used like Chamber TP, allow a gap for trade.
    Empress
    - Buff - Along with initiative Dismiss you can be invisible whenever you want
    No agent should encourage braindead TDM playstyle, this is valorant, not CoD

    Wait i thought what made reyna viable by paper rex is combining her with pop flashes agent, most notibly Skye, so enemy will have either shoot reyna leer or skye flash, ignoring the two option will gave them disadvantages as if you dont destroy leer, it'll give you nearsight and if you don't Destroy skye flash, well its self-explanatory except you're on really good angle that enemy will expect you on that angle later to be flashed

    Leer is strong when combined with another flash, as it soft-counters anti-flash and allows for secondary duelists to gain space as well as the rest of your team to swing safely if needed. It is also the easiest "flash" in the game as it blinds only the enemy. She's the strongest agent in scramble situations, creating chaos intentionally and forcing players to be ready for obscure and risky swings/angles.
    I honestly don't know if she should get a change, because I feel like a buff to her space acquisition might send her to overpowered. She's extremely niche but she has her strengths. I guess you could give her the ability to store her souls for a set time instead of having to be in sight of them? Maybe buff movement speed in dismiss?

    I know it would be a drastic change, but changing reyna by removing her devour and replacing it with something more traditional, ie, a stun, boombot, movement ability, would make reyna much more team-oriented, while still keeping the multikill potential/fun with dismiss. Plus whenever I see people use reyna in ranked, 90% of the time after getting a kill reyna uses dismiss rather than devour, as the extra health isn't always useful if the enemy hits a headshot, while dismiss is almost always useful.

      i mean dismiss and devour are obviously situational, getting rid of reyna's devour would almost certainly make her less team oriented, as it discourages aggressive plays.

    Only way of actually implementing her into the pro-scene at large would be a full on rework of her devour, dismiss and empress abilities, but how exactly that would look like I have no idea.

    I honestly say having her dismiss as something u have for free but you have to get two kills to get it back, that way she can entry w dismiss assisted by a flash and gain space, what about her heal? idk didn't think that far

    While Harbor is somewhat needed to make Reyna work you seem to have missed Reyna's need for Skye as well.
    PRX partners Reyna's eye with Skye's flash. The enemies are forced to be blinded either by the eye or by the flash making the eye harder to deal with than it would be normally if it's just thrown alone.
    Any enemy trying to destroy the eye will be blinded by Skye's flash but if they turn away from Skye's flash they still can't look back without problems because the eye is still there and still needs to be destroyed.

    In my opinion, my problem with Reyna is online with ping difference ( and yes skill difference ) her kit allowes her to play like a absolute warrior and never get punished ( at low elo ) and when the whole point of Valorant is to work as a team and use your utilities to win she is the odd one out, i just dont like her for the insta locking and for the ability for better players playing at lower ranks to abuse her. She definitely needs a complete rework. ( incase your wondering i am sliver 1 atm )

      That's only the point of VALORANT in VCT. Even if Reyna was removed, the Smurfs will just start using jett who is probably more destructive than Reyna ever will be. This is ranked we're talking about and no one in ranked communicates with each other. I am Diamond 3 and even here, no one communicates, there is no teamplay.

    Her kit is super self-sufficient but that isnt a bad thing though. Shes a super strong lurk agent and in the hands of a mechanically gifted player, she's a strong weapon.
    The leer isn't a flash, its a nearsight. There are only (3) nearsights in the game: Omen Blind, Fade Dog, and Reyna's Leer. Nearsights operate slightly differently from flashes, especially Reyna. It is supposed to blind multiple enemies at once, provide a distraction, and allow Reyna to gain kills through that.
    But unfortunately, with our current meta, Reyna & Phoenix have no use. The current meta focuses heavily on utility, denying & gaining space. That's why teams will prefer a double initiator comp over a double duelist. Reyna is a great secondary duelist but choosing her as a primary duelist is literally trolling. The reason why PRX utilizes Reyna is because they're a highly aggressive team filled with mechanically gifted players. They flip the Meta on its head, everytime, which is why Reyna is a strong pick for them.
    PS: Your'e suppose to aim the leer to the ground in order to blind close enemies.

    I think Reyna should be categorized as a sentinel with a design overhaul.
    Reasoning:
    T-side:
    As you pointed out, she doesn't have anything like the other duelists do, phoenix/yoru flashes or jett/raze/neon movement for entry.
    She would absolutely be the best lurker in the game (by design), allowing for heals after 1v1's, and dismissing (or something else) if needed in other scenarios.
    CT-side:
    She doesn't really struggle on defense per say, but that's just because of the nature of her kit, and the fact that she doesn't need to take space.
    Design overhaul:
    1. Keep overheal, and it's current mechanics because it's fine.
    2. Get rid of dismiss, and instead allow for some kind of AOE effect where you killed someone (similar to chamber ult or deadlock's grenade kind of mechanic) which would nearsight someone. Not instantly (because that'd be broken lol), but after a short delay a small nearsight aoe comes up.
    3. Flash: slight changes but I'm not smart enough to come up with them.
    4. Ult: keep it similar to how it is now, but you a) get auto heal, b) still get the attack speed boost, and c) automatically drop the aoe. It sounds busted but the idea is to make a short timer for the ult (~10-15 seconds) so attacking reyna's site becomes much more difficult.
    This is just something I've recently thought of, so haven't had much time to think of it. Would love to hear other opinions but I think this could genuinely solve the issue of reyna only being a ranked agent and allow for her to be a contender for pro play.

      I think these would be decent changes if she just stayed a duelist, bc chamber was like a duelist in a sentinel suit, and right now from all the changes you brought up it feels like it make it so that she is still a duelist with a new busted aoe effect.

      @@acew2904 I disagree because in her kit dismiss is the only ability that resembles a duelist- i.e an ability to "take space". Even still it's not good at that (compare it to jett dash which doesnt need a kill to activate). You take that away and she has no value to the team whatsoever. This idea of an aoe effect on a kill would reinforce the sentinel way of playing, as in "locking down" areas of the map after you secure a kill.

    how to make reyna viable on pro play (and to remove smurfs option of their agent pick):
    - completely remove her lifesteal. this is why reyna is a selfish agent in the first place. she benefits herself from her own gain. instead, replace it with what i call "soul seeker", giving info of where the enemies are for 2 seconds, in a form of subtle red-ish glow in-game and on the map (like when you respawned on DM, the red glow appears on the map telling you where the enemies are)
    - i personally won't change her leer but i would make it cast a bit more faster and increase the health up to 150hp (4 vandal shots)
    - dismiss time limit increase up to 3 seconds
    - keep the soul orb usage to two times only
    - for empress, when you're on her ult radius, your vision drops like it's a nightmare, and the map will be disoriented (omen ult, viper's pit). this is great on paper, because it will intimidate enemies to fall back. also keep the lifesteal and dismiss intact, but nerf the lifesteal, only regaining 50 hp per orb. also nerf her ult points to 7

    I think her heal should be nerfed to not regen shield, her blind should be buffed by getting increased health and giving blinded players less vision and her blink shohld be changed to not be dependent on kills imo.

    I am currently low immortal an play Frankfurt, and i still get a ping abusing lurking Reyna InstaLock et least once a day.
    The only change i could think of without a complete rework of her kit, is to give her a dismiss once every round, wich could be activated without the need for a kill. This would help her to entry sites but she would still die without perfekt initiator until whilst trying to dismiss. In Order to give her a higher chance at survival she should be able to use her Flash in this dismiss, she would basically get a downgraded Yoru Ult every round.
    In my head this sounds kinda op, so lets just remove her ability to heal her shield.
    In Addition i feel like we should be able to place her flash at different lengths (if you right click whilst holding her flash it would move closer to her head) so the skill cap of her util would become higher.
    If this doesn’t help just changer her design to a ugly witch so all the insecure Teenagers start locking Jett who at least has the potential to do anything for the team xD

    Riot should implement an agent ban mechanism, as well as an anti-insta-locker mechanism.
    I will provide my thoughts on an anti-insta-locker mechanism:
    First: agents can only be locked after fifteen seconds have passed after all five members have the selection screen available.
    Second: An agent can't be locked if two or more players have selected (not picked) the agent.
    Third: The agent needs to be selected for at least five seconds before being able to pick it.
    Four: If there's no more than five seconds remaining to start the match, it will be automatically selected after the counter ends.
    Five: if the timer ends and two or more players have selected the same agent, the game is cancelled and everyone returns to the queue (at this point, two or more players won't like to play with the teammates who didn't change the agent).
    Six: if a player dodges two or more games because of the rule five in less than a week, the player will be banned.
    Seven: in unrated matches, there will be a "random agent" option for premade teams.
    What do you think about this?
    An agent ban system and a anti-insta-locker system would solve most of the problems imho.

      second, fifth, and sixth is sort of flawed. they could be used to dodge or get other players falsely punished. instalocking isn't the issue, its the person themselves. regardless of how long it takes someone to lock in an agent it wouldn't change any sort of solo egoist play style which is the problem with many duelist players.

      @@cworgi why? It couldnt be used to dodge because the sixth would prevent that. And that wont punish falsely to anybody: only to the ones whom decided to dodge.
      and instalocking is sometimes an issue. there's people who instalocks a controller, an initiator or a sentinel. the solo-egoist play style would be punished due to rule number 6.
      also, as I said, there should be another agent-ban system in competitive matches. it's about time.
