Wait people recognize your hands at the grocery store😂!!
He could be a hand-model… does that make me gay…?
They knew when he was the only person with a cart full of Diet A&W Rootbeer
Miyoo Mini Plus is the only vertical handheld that I need 💪
Agreed. It has the best dpad. along with the RG-ARC D
Dude I love Ur channel it not only has made me buy awesome products. But also inspire to just see a person create content on what they genuine love makes. Truly a joy to see
I honestly appreciate you saying so!
MM+ has become my favorite simply because it actually gets used. It's practical and inexpensive. So I have no fear taking it out of the house.
I have a feeling when the Miyoo Flip comes out it'll be the new favorite. I want it so bad!
Anbernic has one coming too! RG35XX "SP"
I'm absolutely getting one of em
Do you know when it's supposed to be released?
@@thatguy00271 man I can't with ambernic and this random ass numbers and letters. Maybe do something like "Amber Boy 2" (RG35XX), "Amber Bar" (RG35XX H), or "Amber Flip" (RG35xx SP). I mean those random names just make it seem sketchy, one of the reasons I prefer the Myoo brand.
Believe it or not I don't think I'm going to love the flip, because I'm not into the analog sticks on it. I think I'll prefer the RG35XX SP better (but the lack of Onion is a big shame...). We'll see!
@@TechDweeb I concur - I just want a clamshell version of the Miyoo Mini Plus! No sticks. It would be the ideal upgrade to the V90 we never got.
I picked up the Litnxt Miyoo Mini plus with Onion installed because of your recommendation and have been extremely happy with it. Not my first device but one of my favorites. Litnxt did a great job setting everything up. A bunch of games won't register with retroachievements and the game list isn't perfect but other than that they did a pretty decent job. Thanks for your recommendation and I would recommend this device as well.
Can confirm, this little device is the easiest to get set up and ready, stress free. I've tried a couple others and there's just always SOMEthing that's a new hurdle that needs that little extra tweaking, but not for the Miyoo Mini +! Gotta get me one of those grips, and I'll be the happiest camper.
0:28 that was the smoothest plug I've every witnessed
“Plug”? Pretty sure that was just to prove his point, he doesn’t have to sneak in his other social media profiles so people can see them.
I like "researching" stuff i wanna buy, it's fun, even more fun than actually buying stuff
i love my miyoo mini v2! its so cute! but i get mm+ is getting better by the day, glad you stil lrecommend them!
HELL YEAH, MORE HANDHELD VIDEOS. loved the intro lololol. Recently got my MM+ to retire my 3DS. Best Steam Deck companion
I might pick one up on a sale one day just to have in the collection, but I'm still firmly on Team Zazzbizzle. I also didn't realize that your Tech Dweeb theme came preloaded on their preconfigured SD card. That's really sick. Congrats!
Zazzbizzle is a rockstar! Still love that thing.
The TD theme comes with Onion, not just on the preconfigured card but any Onion install (part of the default themes pack).
Great recommendation, Dweeb! Love my Litnxt preloaded MM+! I alternate between it and my RG35XX H for my daily driver. Prefer the button feel on the MM+, but like the horizontal layout of the RG35XX H. The fantastic preloaded Onion OS pushes my MM+ to the top though...
Just got mine for 42 bucks from Aliexpress what a time to be alive!
damn, that's a steal, hope to get one soon myself
God damn this is one high quality video. Well done sir - sub well earned!
Getting one of these reignited my love of gaming. PS5 hadn't been been lodged to a friend for 6 months. I'm waiting on both an rg35xxh and steamdeck OLED to arrive and I'm wondering if the Miyoo Mini Plus will just continue to be my go to.
I have a steam deck and I want one of these for the small form factor so bad
Great vídeo, simple and objective!.. thanks a million ✌🏼🤓🎮
I love the Miyoo Mini Plus. Another fun feature: if you have 2, some systems can use netplay or wireless GB link.
100%. It's the perfect package. Default OS is better than anything Anbernic releases and once you get Onion OS installed you'll never want anything less. Plus virtually every option for the Miyoo Mini + comes with a carrying case and let me tell you that might not seem like a big issue but you'll be far more likely to bring this thing with you if you don't think it'll be damage in travel.
I bought a plank of wood with a better operating system than anything Anbernic have released.
I think FWs from anbernic have such a bad wrap around them (most probably earned, not saying thay have been good in the past) that people don't even bother to try them. I have a rg35hhP which has received several FW updates since I got it, and got better and better, latest is really not bad (aside from the cumbersome update process). I also have a mmV4 with onion 4.3, si I know the system and it's very good but... It's like "onion is the best, anbernic is terrible" has become a sort of mantra rather than a fact. Nevertheless, I would probably install onion on the rg35xxP if I could, but not because it's miles better... Basically, only for the game switcher function in pair with the quick save&shutdown feature, rest is basically equivalent, and missing Bluetooth and HDMI would still make me go with the plus as the mid size device. In any case, I see difficult for onion os to be ported to other chips, since it is not a complete FW, it's more kind of an overlayer running on top of the miyoo internal FW, which runs from a eMMC integrated in the device board, very different from the typical double SD cards devices that have the complete fw running from the sd
@@martinh4982plankOS is solid 😩🫴
I'm not really a vertical handheld player, too slim for my big-ish hands, but this has always caught my interest due to so many reviewers loving it and I see there's a grip available for it that might just make it fit in my paws....so I see me taking a chance on this little jewel soon! Thanks for the in depth heads up Mr. Dweeb, I would have passed on this otherwise!
Is there a similar system that’s a horizontal form factor?
@@matthewchristensen4822 I'm the wrong guy to ask, lol, I only own an Odin 2 atm, sorry.
Your desk art is super fun. You should put it on a desk size rgb mouse pad and sell it. I would LOVE to have one. You could even have a usb hub and wireless charging capabilities. The Ultimate desk sized rgb mouse pad. Form AND function. Please do it!
That's an amazing idea!
I am EXTREMELY jealous of your DMG colored handheld collection!
I'd love to see Miyoo do their own version of the RGB30.
I just got my Miyoo Mini Plus this week. I ADORE it.
Setting up Onion OS was incredibly easy, using it is really easy, it feels well built... It's in my pocket right now inside it's case, I can play all the time. I'm playing Pokemon Leaf Green and it feels like I'm 10 again.
nice one bro!
as for me , I went with the Anbernic RG35XX with MinUI and it's PERFECT
Thnx Shaun Inman
I've been meaning to get the 353v because it looks like the mini plus with sticks for more game options.
i feel like this has become the default recomendation for a vertical form factor handheld and the RG35XX H is becoming the new default recomendation for a horizontal form factor, almost for the same reasons as the MM+
BUT i still like the R36S just for the fact that it can run portmaster's games, something the MM+ and Rg35xx can't atm
Yeah, I find the R36S to be superior to MM+ and RG35XX (original version)
I LOVE my R36S. Having Portmaster was game changing for me.
Rg35xxh with batocera is awesome
the r36s was my starter device. i loved the thing.
I tried to get into Batocera with the RG35XX H but I just didn’t vibe with it. Maybe I’ll give it another shot :)
I have a question! I see everyone recommending the Miyoo Mini Plus and I’ve watched all the reviews of it. But no where, have I seen or heard that the speaker makes a pop noise when starting the device, it constantly makes a hissing sound even when turned down or that the screen flashes when starting as well. But when going to Reddit everyone says it’s normal? Am I missing something? Or do I have a bad device?
As a steamdeck owner, I feel like the most unique handheld is the RGB30. It actually offers something with its aspect ratio (and relative size, of course) that the steam deck doesn't because that is obviously an emulation powerhouse otherwise.
On the contrary I find the Miyoo Mini Plus to be the perfect retro device. Primarily because of its size and that it is purposefully built around a very specific time in retro gaming. Don't get me wrong, the Steam Deck is a FANTASTIC device and I use it daily. But to me, both the Steam Deck and many other devices (like the RGB30) are over-built for that era of retro emulation. I bring my Steam Deck when I travel to "destinations" (like visiting my partner or my relatives) but when I am daily commuting, or go to the beach, park, or even go bike touring, sleeping in a tent, I always bring the Miyoo Mini as my "entertainment device". It's so small that it doesn't really matter if you bring it with you, even in a setting where you don't have a lot of space (like bike touring)
Rgb30 is s nice idea but the faulty charging lost it for me.
@@UnwittingSweaterYeah if someone else made it that wasn't powkiddy it might be more respectable lol. But since powkiddy isn't known for reliability I don't buy their products much for that very reason. Only one I do have is the Ux10 which I think is a very nice device. But other then that no other devices.
Has anyone tried one of those charging stands with the magnetic connector- does it fox any problems?
Well saiod.
Nice, Awesome Video. 🍰🍺
Today is my Birthday buddy, my wife bought one of your handheld for me.🎂 🥳 🍻🎉
Happy B-Day!
Happy birthday!
Hey! Mines was yesterday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! HOPE ITS THE BEST!
Happy Birthday. Would love to know what device you got.
Happy birthday! 🎂🎂🎂
MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT DURING THE BIG REVEAL 😭, felt all kinds of emotions but was so relieved when I saw miyoo mini plus, just ordered mine last week (still not here for some reason), now I find out the GOAT is recommending this??? HOLYYYY, was so torn between RGB30, RG35XXH, and miyoo mini (actual mini) but saw the plus on sale ($46) and purchased one without hesitation 😭 I was having second thoughts about it since the price seemed too good to be true, but then I saw the reviews (mostly yours 👀), and was relieved a bit but now I am the happiest guy on earth 🤧
Good for you my friend, have fun!
If I have a new Nintendo 3DS xl do you recommend me by a retro handheld or stick with my 3DS?
I have the Miyoo Mini v4 the Mini Plus and an RP2S and my most played of all 3 is the og mini by far it goes with me everywhere. WiFi is a non issue when I mostly play it out and about or at friend’s houses. Something about the smallness of the little guy makes him more fun to play on than his big brother despite it being slightly less comfortable
@TechDweeb I have been a sub for a long time I enjoy your vids I purchased the retro Mini+ via the link. I am looking forward to getting something good to go without all the tinkering. Do you have any idea how long it will take to get it since its coming from China 3 weeks ish?
200% agree. This is the only device I've felt confident in recommending and gifting to friends. OnionOS is just so nice, polished and a breeze to use, and the console itself (especially the non-transparent shells) just felt so good with the buttons, overall feel etc. I really can't wait for the Miyoo Flip to arrive cause that's the form factor I love the most. Fingers crossed 🤞and thanks for the amazing content as usual :))
I'm now sure I made the right call when I got the Miyoo Mini + last September for my birthday.
It is funny because it was a gift from my Dad (we both buy stuff on AliExpress, mostly tools and stuff for wood working) I happened to see the Miyoo for around $40 one day and was watching a lot of retro console videos at the time, so I told him that it would be a good gift for my birthday. I felt being 5 years old again, asking my dad for a console to play ps1.
I was amazed the first time I booted it up to play Spider-Man and seeing how good it looked on that tiny screen. Later on in Christmas, my girlfriend got me some red translucent buttons and I got in to customizing it and upgrading other stuff like the speaker and I'm planning on making a wooden case/grip for it when I get some time off from work. But yeah, I definitely love it!
It's amazing esp for small people like me. I'm so happy with it. I don't think I'll grab another device unless it's the Nintendo switch OR switch2 next year
Here I was hoping you were gonna say the rp2s. Love that video to bits
RP2S is great, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a newbie.
"Stop pulling on my shirt" -- love your comedic wavelength
Hey man. Thank you for dropping the voice. I saw your videos for a year or two, would watch a minute or two and click off because I couldn't handle it. Very nice change. I subscribed. ❤
Good to hear 👍
Hey Techdweeb, I really enjoy watching your entertaining videos. You have such a unique and funny style that just vibes with me! Please keep up the great work!! From a fellow tinker geek!
I really loved the Miyoo Mini Plus but I had to return it because of the weak WiFi chip. It would constantly disconnect and I’d miss out on Retro Achievements. I now have the RG35xx Plus, which works perfectly. However, there is something about the Miyoo Mini. I wonder if I just had a bad unit of if the WiFi issue is widespread?
Is there a reason why you picked the miyoo mini plus over something like the rg353v or vs. I thought that handheld would've been a better overall option.
I agree. The Miyoo Mini Plus is the one I always recommend, and is what I gave to several friends to expose them to our world. It's simple, performs well, looks good. Hard to go wrong.
Quick question I bought a similar device and headphone jack didn’t work well is this one any good?
Can you play it outside like a gba sp? Like with no backlight on?
I’ve had an addiction the last year with these devices and after having the Anbernic rg35xx plus, RG353VS, 405V, and 405M the Miyoo mini plus is the device I go back to the most I just LOVE the little thing, OnionOs is just a phenomenal firmware and it’s just so easy to pick up and play also what you said about it being the least frustrating to use that’s very true. I don’t know if I’ll come across another handheld that’ll beat it
Why Miyu Miyoo Plus over RG35XX Plus?
This is very important because I already have RG35XX and a Plus and love them, RG Arc too, but what benefits would the Miyoo Min Plus have over them? I also own and ADORE the RGB30 for PICO-8 and vertical arcade games
I’ve heard about JELOS, and how you can link systems without internet as “the middleman”, so like link two on the road, that kinda thing. Can you do that with the miyoo?
Is there a way to run bigbox/launch box on any handhelds?
Hey Tech Dweeb, at 3:22 which game is that please? I watched the whole video before asking :). Also, a horizontal version of this I think would just dominate the space, unless Onion OS is ported to other systems (RG35XX-H ;) ).
Check the top left of the screen ;)
I talk about the game in this vid: th-cam.com/video/AgocPE9pzS4/w-d-xo.html
Hi techdweeb I really want to purchase the Miyoo Plus to play pokemon games like silver and crystal version. I heard that those games may be unplayable because of the night/day mechanic in those games and they require a RTC which the Miyoo doesn’t have? Are there any other handhelds with a RTC that I can use instead?
If you get this set up with onion OS you can set the RTC in the device settings and play games like Pokemon just fine.
@@TechDweeb thanks man!
While i love the looks of it, i cant say its a fav. Shoulder button comfort and accessibility is huge for me and the ones on the miyoo's are simply not fit for my hands😅
Good morning TD! "Tinkerlust" is my new favorite word 😍.
Yeah I wrote it as a placeholder in my script and instantly realized it was pure gold!
Personally, I'm loving my new RGB30 (my first handheld emulator) right now. It's great that it has hdmi out, control sticks and lovely screen. Ok it's not a beast power wise but it could be worse and it does pretty much what I need it to.
I have the miyoo mini and the v2 right before they came out with the wifi one. I wonder if there's a way we can install the wifi module.
Can you trade Pokemon with the preloaded Onion OS installed, assuming you and a friend each get one? And as someone who already has a modded N3DS and modded PSV, this still is tempting because of the price point/size for travel.
I'm not surprised at all. If I was recommending just one I'd say this too. It's probably the only one that I'd buy multiples of so I can play two players with someone else. I recommend people set up their own SD card and roms though. My experience with that came "included" with mine was like, "here are gazillion games you don't care about and good luck finding anything as it's not alphabetical. here's a version of Onion that's super old that you can't update. oh also this will crash a lot because the card we included was crap". But once I set up my own, it runs like a dream! 🙂 EDIT - noted you recommended a specific seller that has a nice build pre-installed. Right on, great advice. My experience was random Amazon seller.
Got mine a week ago and I’m totally in love
Im sure you have been asked before TD; but what do you think about the Analogue Pocket?
Can we download that build of Onion OS??? I already had my Plus when I learned of LitNXT :(
Not bad for sure, but I'm a big fan of the Anbernic ARC and very happy with it!
i never held a saturn or arc d-pad but that thing looks comfortable and useful as hec
It's the best device with the biggest Retro Factor X. And it's 4", which makes it the perfect 8/16-Bit device.
I mean, come on... The buttons alone are GOAT.
Just ordered mine! Can't wait. I love my Anbernic but the OS and creature comforts are just sort of wonky.
Valid! I don't have the plus model but I love my standard MM with OnionOS, it's definitely something special. Although I think the RP2S isn't brought up in this conversation enough. I guess it takes a lot more tinkering to set up right but it's such a great deal and has fantastic build quality. EmulationStation has also been a game changer for that device, personally.
I have an MM+ but it just doesn't feel that comfortable to play on tbh. I think I will get the RP2S to replace it.
You forgot to mention it supports steam Os and runs Pc games, also you can emulate GPUs by editing the config files.
Only works on the April 1st edition ;)
I bought my dad a Miyoo Mini + for his birthday in march. He loves it so much, that it made me get one for myself. I didn’t realize the hype until then because i tried the RG35XX-H or whatever its called and so far I’ve had bad experiences. Tried fixing them but doesn’t work, tried buying another and same issues. Gave up and stuck with the Miyoo Mini + after seeing how cool and perfect it really is!! I love that handheld so much 💪🏼
I am looking to purchase my very first Retro Handheld. I've gone down a long rabbit hole with the research, and I can't decide.
I want a horizontal handheld with a big and colorful screen that'll play N64, Gamboy Color, Gamboy Advanced, PS2, PSP, and Nintendo Switch games. But I also dont want to spend an arm and a leg.
The closest I've found to my budget is the Anbernic RG556 and the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro. I can't choose between the two. The RG556 has a bigger and better screen with great ergonomics, but the Pocket 4 Pro is more powerful enough to play Switch games with ease.
Is there another handheld that has the best of both? Would I have to go more expensive? If so, what's the cheapest I can go with still getting the best of both RG556 and Pocket 4 Pro? Should I wait for Anbernic and/or Retroid to release their next big device(s)?
I dont know what to do! Someone hewp me!
Been loving the Miyoo mini plus. I think it’s the most consistently used device. Just beat Chrono Trigger on it!
I own an ARC-D. It’s great for retro games + PSP for newer stuff.
Can i ask which is best handheld?
For handheld department, I have Steam Deck, Switch, and RG35XX PLUS, with the Plus I bring to work because short times to use between breaks just to keep my mind from work and rest.
Both Deck and Plus handle different ranges in the emulation department, and I am proficient in regular computer use to not have qualms with the stock OS.
As far as I can tell, the Miyoo Mini+ is good for those unfamiliar with emulation in general, and less of a hassle to configure. Though people wanting to edit their library would still need the assistance with someone proficient on making such changes or making backups. A bit difficult for me to recommend the RG35XX PLUS for very new emulator users, but their saving grace is improvements in ergonomics and hardware quality for something close to Game Boy Color size. If the Miyoo Mini Plus can match that in terms of button quality and sound, the chipset would be less of a sticking point.
Going to get this for my gf birthday. Great looking unit
Dweebie, I know that laugh bro, lol cookies and rootbeer time!
I'm a R36s guy myself for value/performance. But all these devices are fun tbh. Retro gaming is amazing stuff.
Thanks techdweeb, snagged your deal with an extra $5 off with their Mother’s Day weekend sale. Super pumped to play this thing on the toilet at work instead of my phone with those terrible virtual controls. Tried bringing a my retroid pocket for the same reason but most of the time is spent turning the device on and getting back to my game. Onion OS really is the standard for how these devices should operate in a perfect world.
I’m currently torn between the RG35XXH and the RGB30. I’m more of a horizontal form-factor guy. Anyone tried both and can give some insight to help with the choice?
I specifically want a pocketable retro handheld with thumb sticks so I can at least enjoy N64. Obviously with the price, it's hard to find something below $100 that's powerful and pocketable with all the perks. I just recently purchased an Anbernic RG35xx H because I prefer the horizontal form factor as opposed to a vertical one. I think I got lucky because not only was it on sale, but I had a digital coupon for like $8 off on Aliexpress, totaling $46 after tax and shipping. I'm still waiting for it to arrive, but damn if that's not a steal, I don't know what is.
The Miyoo Minu does look nice to fit in a pocket whenever, but I really can't imagine myself enjoying a gaming device without thumb sticks, which was the real deciding factor. To each their own, of course, and beyond that, I like hearing other people's opinions on their favorites and what makes them great. Solid video man!
For under $100 N64, I hear the Retroid Pocket 2S is great.
I never really liked Vertical Handhelds. I have small hands which is ideal for that kind of device but for me the Horizontal form factor is the way to go.
I could have waited for the Miyoo A30 but I had to buy the RG35XX-H wich is a perfect Handheld for my needs. Light weight PSP and DreamCast games are such a nice bonus for me.
I just got myself a switch oled and the first thing i did was to mod the console . Now i am kind of happy .
What's the best device to play Dreamcast and PSP on ?
I totally agree with you I'm on onion 4,2 os shud I updated I don't cera about ds games I own lots and if I updated will I need to use a pc to move files or out or updayt and go thank you my bro
I just asked my wife to get me the RG35XX H for my upcoming birthday as it seems to be slightly more powerful, has analog sticks, is horizontal, some other features. I ALMOST went for for the Miyoo Mini +...very close.
Been enjoying my miyo mini + daily it,s amzing best 60 euro,s ever spend :). I also think that the D pad and buttons are perfect there so nice!
Orderd my self a miyoo whit the onion OS will be fun to compare it with the rg35xx h later 😅
Will it run things on the 64 like Mario, Mario party, Mario kart, anything Zelda?
I'm on OG RG35XX team, nowadays it's possible to get it for 30USD on AliExpress sales and it's amazing how well it works "docked" on HDMI and USB joysticks for multiplayer. Moreover there are quite a few N64 games playable through the Koriki CFW, I'm always playing 1v1 Smash Remix on it. If I were to go with a Miyoo it would be the smaller model since it can do almost everything the RG35XX can while being almost keychain size
“Keychain size” *laughs in RG Nano*
Yes the hdmi docking is definitely a major selling point for the anbernic devices. It's the main reason i was debating between the 35XX n mini plus. I ended up with the miyoo because of the dpad, onion os and aesthetics. I realised i didn't personally need the hdmi anymore because i started docking my fone
I bought this build, just the 128GB SD card, and TechDweeb was not lying. It makes the Miyoo Mini+ feel mostly complete. It’s a dope collection of games.
I've had my RG350M for 4 years and it's the best device I've used. I had an RG556 for a couple months but even with the power, it just isn't as convenient. The miyoo mini plus does look neat though!
I received my Ambernic from AliExpress the RG35xx H for 50.xx dollars but never unbox it. Because you told us that we can play steam games in the Miyo mini… I am going to tell my mom that today you say Miyo is your best choice 😅. I am using my RK2023 with the same 3566. And I plan doing my own powerhouse handheld with raspberry pi 5 soon 😂
My Miyoo Mini Plus is my go-to handheld. Easy to slip into my backpack without taking up space, easy to update OnionOS, and perfect for platformers and rpgs. The battery life is great too, good for train rides.
Can it play psp games like the rg35xx plus?
Dude is one shade from being Freddy Krueger
Even if I have a RP2S, which covers almost all my need, I think I'll buy a Miyoo Mini Flip when it will be available: I would like something reeeeaaaaally pocketable, affordable, with good quality and able to play up to PS1.
Is the RG353VS better than the Miyoo Mini Plus ?
I just ordered it and I already have one your good your really good!! I've always wanted a wight one to add to the collection anyway bahaha and it having Onion os already on it definitely is a bonus I got the 125g hopefully they add box art? Or is that something I'll have to do.. 😅
You can even trade pokemon?! 😲
I NEEEEEED IIIITT! 🤩
But in all seriousness, I'm 100% getting it. Been wanting to play my old console games on the go, for YEARS.... TechDweeb theme 💯 Very cozy vibes.
DUUDE, Dunkaroos... I remember. The cream was/is the BEST! 😄
Blades of Steel... Man, I wish I knew you growing up. You're hitting all the nostalgia points
RGB30 is my favorite handheld currently.
I like it alot but just a tad too small for my hands so I got the 405v love them both
What's something similar with an analog stick?
The only gripe I have with the miyoo mini plus is that the screen is noticeably green relative to other devices
