Especially pirating for a console that is no longer being sold with games that are no longer being sold. Literally the only person losing money are scalpers and resellers.
Great timing for this video, I just picked up a vita 2000 and after modding it I can definitely say its an absolutely amazing experience! Im really looking forward to playing through some of my favorite ps2 game collections on the go!
I completely agree about the smart phones cannot be categorize as a gaming console. Yes, you can play games on it very well but it's not the same. It's like tomatoes being a fruit. Yes, it's a fruit but I can't eat them on my waffles.
I think possibly the biggest missed oppurtunity with the vita (to me) due to its poor sales and investment by studios, is not enough PS2 were ported to it. We know it is capable with MGS HD collection and GOW collection. Even now, we are waiting for a cheap device (so not like 250 or over), that can run ps2 games. Granted, what we are looking at currently are emulation devices, therefore are mostly less optimised for the games currently (if someone makes a breakthrough with the PS2 emulation programme, it could be possible to play it on existing devices).
Great video! I agree with every point you discussed in the video. I bought the Ps Vita attracted by Gravity Rush, Freedom Wars, Wipeout 2048, and the Metal Gear Solid collection, and I have always been satisfied with the quality of the console's native titles. It's a shame that Sony decided to abandon the console so early, although I understand the reasons. After a few years, I started learning Japanese for fun, and after 6 years of continuous study, the Ps Vita has become the console I use the most again. There are so many Japanese titles that never made it to the West, and it's a pleasure to rediscover them after all this time. The fact that people still talk about this "failed" console after 11 years says a lot!
I've been carrying my Vita with me everyday since i bought it back in 2018. It was my phone replacement, main console, main PS4 controller, media player... it has done it all. Seriously, it might not be the master of all but sure is a jack of all trades. It gets even better when you get one of those L3-R3 trigger cases specially for remoteplay and PS1 games. Even today, i still use mine alongside my Steam Deck as an MP3 player or in situations when my steam deck isn't comfortable enough to use. I felt in love with the Vita since it released and i still love it to death. Regarding this part 18:39, i manage to finish Dead RIsing, TT The Walking Dead, Gravity Rush 2, Silent Hill 3, Fallout 4, Ace Combat Zero, Red Dead Redemption 2 and some other games i can't remember atm withouth the fancy extra triggers. It wasn't easy but man it sure was fun.
you’re inspiring me to try and do this as a challenge. i just got a ps vita, waiting for it to arrive in the mail, i’m just watching non stop “vita in 2023” videos hyping myself up
I hacked my psvita yesterday after years of owning it . I'm finally getting more use out . Cant wait to upgrade the memory to 512gb . I always legitimately bought games but then they removed the option to add funds so I could not buy other games , by doing that they don't get my money . I'm sorry but they forced my hand .
The PS VITA has the ability to use your PS4 controller and play the mods. Impressive device man. I have a Switch stand and it holds the VITA to play it on a desk with the PS4 controller. I started buying some VITAS and plan to buy one more in the near future. Amazing device man. I own the switch and it doesn't compare. This is a real handheld.
Someone has probably said this already, but OLED Vitas with 3G allow you to replace the 3G modem with an SD card adapter internally. This means you don't have to swap a game card and SD adapter every time you want to play a physical game.
I'm actually surprised that you're the first person I've seen mention it. It's definitely a good option. If I ever modded my Vita-1101, I'd probably opt for that method instead of SD2Vita. I only didn't include it in the video because it's only for the single model of Vita with a 3G modem and requires opening the device to install. Given the length of the video, I figured spending another minute or two explaining a niche feature wouldn't have been the best use of folks' time. But, it's definitely good to mention.
I'm so glad you also have the hori grip. When you started talking about the back touch pad I was worried that your opinion would tank, but you have the Hori Grip and it's GAME CHANGING! Everyone who has a Vita and plays trigger heavy games, get one of those. Worth the price. Great Video!
This video was awesome! Especially the comparison with other emulation consoles. For me it will always be companion to my Steam Deck - its big brother :)
I bought Vita in 2019 and I still rocking with it! Best investment for a gaming for me. Speaking about store, yeah I still buy some games on Vita but the problem is some games on this system is stupid expensive right now, for example I really want to have Ys VIII because it's cool JRPG games on Vita but sadly this game got markup for physical copies on many online store and this game also still full price on PlayStation Store, so for a while now I played Ys VIII via the "dark side" until I find the cheapest and legal way to get this game.
@@shotgun_daddy-1089 I've been hacking my Vita since I bought it lol, although my Vita have been hacked but I still find physical copies of this console right now.
Yeah I had to pay right at $70 US for an English version and it did not even come with the case but it was the last one available on the store for that price and all the other copies were Japanese!!! And to think I had all of these games back in 2016 to 2018…. Wish I had a never sold it, because my vita back then was in mint condition and you could not even tell it had been used with how clean it was!
Just bought mine for 76$. Honestly the best purchase of my life. Though the library of official vita games aren't as impressive as the psp (granted the ps vita could play those games), there's still alot of gems to dig. I just think that the design and overall of the software is so much ahead of it's time and could arguably compete with current handhelds system is just so jarring. Sadly, not alot of developers or even sony themselves put alot into it, i just imagine that the next big thing of handheld console would be just like the vita with it's touchscreen, backtouch, gyro etc.
Remote play is a big reason I'm looking into getting one. I'm not gonna get a ps5 for a long time and being able my games anywhere in my home is very appealing.
Honestly such an accurate verdict. I had the preconception that you'd be either a fanboy or a hater, but what a balanced view and honest analysis you presented. Thank you for that. I totally agree with you too. I really want to love the Vita. Well, I think I love the Vita, but it just doesn't feel so great in my hands making it kind of painful to play, at least for a longer period of time.
Like you said, my Vita it's also my main PSP. I also have the PSP since the start, but the experience on the Vita it's much better. It's also how I play my PS1 games.
Anbernic's RG505 is the elephant in the room for me. That device features exactly the same OLED display, but with all the convenience that comes with a modern Android-based handheld. Fair enough that the easiest path to acquire Sony games legally is through the Vita, but there's a lot of games out there besides Playstation.
@@dauntless0711 I agree, I have a retroid pocket 3 because I like it's format better, especially the shoulder buttons, but internally they are very similar, I'm very happy, I can play all PSP titles, all PS1, some PS2, and android games, not to mention anything retro and streaming, which I often do (and also why I like the 16:9 screen), I played sifu on it I played Batman arkham games from my PC to it, and it works really well
@@kendarr both are solid devices depending on your needs. I mention the RG505 because I imagine the PSP and PS1 libraries are important for someone considering purchasing a Vita, and for that content the superior shoulder buttons of the RP 3+ are of minimal benefit. Naturally, the best way to play Vita games specifically is on the Vita. Its niche back touch controls mean some of its library can only be played well on a Vita, so neither the RG505 nor the RP 3+ are optimal if losing some Vita games is a deal breaker.
@@dauntless0711 Yee I did not indent to play any vita games so I haven't remembered it when I got it, maybe mortal kombat 9 but I haven't tried it yet, the 128 GB is full already xD
It's actually a lot simpler than managing game downloads with limited storage space, especially when away from an internet connection. Plus, there's also the whole conversation regarding game ownership and longevity.
For me it's the fact I don't play games much anymore, however my vita has gotten the most use recently, I enjoy physical media and I find I have more immersion and connection to the game when I go out and find a game in a used games store or just in general physically, I get that excitement of inserting the cartridge the first time and getting to play something new. If I hack and pirate the games they are really easy to get so they don't have that sense of value and interest to me so I quickly stop playing. Also in my vita travel case I can fit 3 games, however I usually only take one with me, this forces me to actually play that game rather than switching through games constantly or having to decide what I want to play, which often makes me just put the console back down and go do something else. I also find more old independent used game stores because of this, let's say I go away for a week or two on a trip and I spend my evenings playing a little and I complete my game, I'm forced to go and find a used game store to get another game to play if I want to play games, I have made legitimate real world friends that enjoy the same things I do because of this, and because often these people own a little independent store and I have built up a relationship with them, they will throw in a little extra something they can't sell due to condition or lack of interest when I buy from them. Physical games are great.
I am on iOS and purchased an Android just for dedicated handheld gaming, after the first time setup there’s literally no hassle to boot the device and play the games. Its just as seamless as a handheld console…
Hey man found you through modding my ds with the seed miner exploit. Worked perfectly! Do you think you could be able to put time stamps on your videos for the future videos? Thank you for you help!
Glad I could help! Just to make sure I'm understanding you correctly, are you looking for chapters on the video or timestamps added within the video itself (e.g., X topic at Y time)? I do try to add chapters for most videos where they'd make sense. This one just got away from me a bit due to some last-minute updates that needed to be made. They'll likely get added in the next few days (along with subtitles).
As a single dad of 4…with custody….I still enjoy mine…sometimes I prefer that small light form factor…when playing in my bed especially since it’s hard to get super super comfy with my steam deck or switch in bed.
Ratchet and clank 1-3, Jak and daxter 1-3, Sly Coooper 1-4, God of war 1-2, Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance, Little Big Planet, Playstation All Stars (Playstation Smash Bros), Metal Gear Solid Collection, Street Fighter vs Tekken, Dragon Ball Z Fighting Game, Borderlands 2, Need for Speed Most wanted, Assasins Creed Liberation, Sonic Racing Transformed, Indies like Super Meat boy, Salt and Sanctuary, Sound Shapes. Even just for those it's worth buying and has something to offer for everyone. Not even to mention the fact it has PSP games available to it without mods and of course the mods that can add emulators ect. PS Vita is the GOAT.. Oh and you can put a sim card in the 1000 Model and remote play from your ps4 on the go.
Secret tip if you have Sonic Mania on PS4: Play it with a PlayStation Vita via Remote Play as the controller. The dpad and buttons are really clicky compared to a regular controller which just feels really good for a 2D game like that.
To keep both sides happy I suggest modding your vita so you can use your 250 500 or 1000gb ssd card but still buy games from the store I think that is a great idea so you still got a but load of storage and if you got the money and just wanna collect digitally you can 😁 or you can still buy physical games and get a collection going
I love my vita. I modded it to boost memory. I did it on a the intenal memory on the 2000 model. I set it up so i cam switch between the SD card or a ps Vita memory card by switching in the settings. I still plan on building my physical collection up. But yeh I switch modes and reboot, and put in the physical game. I think I had to mod both internal memory and the 64 GB memory. I forget how I did it exactly cause it was a while ago. But it's possible to work around so you can still play your physical games.
I think you can just switch modes and play physical games without doing the mod process multiple times like I did. I think I just did it to be sure. But I'm sure you can still play physical games but it's best to set it up with a 64 GB memory card if you want that kind of set up.
I totally agree. I love both my 1000 & 2000 but they're surely not perfect machines. And yes indeed, the file transfer for example is frustratingly cumbersome. Yet, there's a special particular area were the Vita wins hands down. It's still the most beautiful looking peace of portable gaming hardware ever designed.
that right there is the selling point for me. The Vita is a feat of engineering, and after growing up with the DualShock + PSP the controls & ergonomics of old-school Sony hardware is legendary. I genuinely do not think a parallel does or could exist, Sony have been perfecting that formula for decades and the Vita was their magnum opus on the engineering front
I'm not sure if it's just mine, but I'm pretty dissapointed with the Vita Slim I got, many PSP games run super buggy and glitchy, Ratchet & Clank for example, the menus move by themselves, it's impossible to choose weapons, or something, other PSX games had the same issue, I checked if the buttons were the problem, but they work perfect in the other games, mGBA runs the games super slow, I had to install a GBA emulator for PSP directly in Adrenaline, and even when they run pretty smooth, many games are not compatible with this emulator. The original PS Vita games seem to have serious issues with frame rate, games like Need for Speed, or Sonic racing, drop down to 20/16FPS, the only Vita games I've managed to play at a decent FPS are Street Fighter, Sly Cooper, and All Starts Battle, the other ones have given me a terrible experience. Even my old PSP 3000 run the games better.
I think there might be an issue with your system. I've played dozens of Vita, PSP, PS1, and other systems' games across both my Vitas in the past couple months and only experienced the dips in quality I note in the video. In particular, a majority of PSP games should run without issue, considering Sony's support of the system. You also shouldn't need to install emulators within Adrenaline. mGBA, for example, is installable to the Vita directly.
I love your very informative videos. I don't think it's for me, but I can see how it could be perfect for someone else. It was fun learning about the vita in general
Also for anybody that gets those little thumb stick grips: If you put a little bit of saliva on the underside prior to trying to get it on and then press it down and turn it ever so gently it’ll pop right on!!
It's an odd handheld to recommend in my book. It's powerful enough to make emulation of a lot of systems viable, but we have newer options that are either designed with user servicing in mind or supported decently (or just cheap enough that it won't matter to many, but that's not my thing.) It's probably a better option to some just because the store still exists, but that looks like it's on borrowed time too. I do think it's in a comfortable zone as far as its form factor goes, though. It's one of the last actually pocketable handhelds from a big name in the space.
We mostly recommend the vita cuz we jus like the small yet powerful sleek look while being able to slip in ur pocket easily vita is much more portable than sum like a steam deck 😂
Vita suffered from being ahead of its time, like a lot of Valve hardware. I still have my vita with a bunch of accessories in a box somewhere the last time I used it, I dug it out because I realized I could remote connect to my PlayStation to play Destiny 1 back in the day haha. I’m sure I pissed off a lot of PvPers lagging everywhere. My KD actually went up on the Vita
It’s better than ever for those who bought it originally, but is it a console to buy rn as a dedicated handheld? Not really, unless you want to try some vita games specifically but even then, in a couple years, vita3k or vita emulation will make this handheld obsolete.
How? The cards provide storage space and don't interfere with the card slot like the SD2Vita mod. For folks wanting to use physical game cards, it's a solid, convenient option.
@@GameXData sonys sdcard is waaay too expensive for the gb capacity it gives, it was a dealbreaker for people when it released and still is now since for the price of a vita + decent sdcard capacity you might as well just get something else, so having to deal with the inconvenience of swapping the sd2vita with a game card is just better than paying x4 the price for the same storage with a sony card imo.
@Alberto Johnson It's chill if that's your opinion. However, it's a pretty large inconvenience for anyone who wants to frequently use and swap between game cards. The memory cards were definitely expensive at launch, but they're honestly not too bad these days (especially for someone dedicated to collecting physical games). I think it's an overstatement to label buying a memory card as a large mistake given the benefit to user experience.
@@GameXData If you bought the game, don't feel a bit remorseful of using a backup on the sd card to play it, while keeping the cart safe in your collection.
I think servers shut down a while ago. From what I gather, most of the Vita games are local play only at this point unless someone creates a private server.
Not quite. For native PSP gaming to be possible, Sony would've needed to include full PSP hardware within the Vita. While the PSP and PS Vita do share some hardware in common, it's not a 1:1 match. That's why Sony opted to build an official emulator that leverages the matching hardware for better accuracy while making up for the remainder in software. Whenever you launch Adrenaline, you're launching custom PSP firmware using Sony's emulator to make launching games through that emulator easier.
I see all the additional features unlocked by the moding community for the PS Vita as reasons for people that already own a vita to pick theirs back up. Unless you REALLY want to play some of the hidden gems that haven’t been rereleased for more accessible machines then the most of the vita’s exclusive features have been more or less have been replicated by less expensive or more feature rich devices
I largely agree with you. Although, I do think some games have a unique experience when played specifically on the Vita, even if they've been ported elsewhere. For folks interested in collecting games or game history, that could be reason enough to play on a Vita. Gravity Rush is the best example that comes to mind. It was ported to PS4 a while ago, but the gameplay feels different playing with a controller instead of a Vita. Which one's better is up to personal preference. However, the actual experience playing the original version of the game hasn't been easily replicated outside the Vita, which could maintain some of the interest playing it handheld.
I dusted out a vita that my siblings and I were sharing not long ago. While I did replay Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror through Adrenaline and enjoyed it, I think I'm just gonna dust out my LG V20 to create a better retro handheld. As you said, transferring roms is time-consuming and so is the SD2VITA mod. Android, even if it's an older version is just more seamless and has a ton more versatility especially the V20 with the quad DAC. I'm glad I revisited the console for a short time, but ultimately it really is more fun for people who have specific Playstation needs and itches... and small hands.
i used to want a vita really badly around 2015. never wound up getting one, and it feels like its not even worth it these days with so many of the titles being ported to switch. on the flipside i do really wanna see how borderlands 2 plays on it lol.
I have a question so recently I’ve been wanting to get Minecraft ps vita legacy console edition, or really just any lagacy console edition, cause I remember I used to have the ps vita and I remember playing Minecraft on it, is it worth it basically just for Minecraft?
Hey, so I’ve been wanting to buy a PlayStation vita recently but I want some help from people who actually own it and or have bought one. So how much do you think I should be paying for a PlayStation vita because I’ve been wanting to get the 1000 model with its cords but I’ve been seeing prices range from $99-$300 and I really don’t know, also, I don’t even know where I should get one because I feel like I’m running the risk of getting scammed sometimes because I don’t shop online all too much.
In general, most folks these days are going to be buying their consoles, games, cables, and memory through online retailers like eBay, Yahoo! Auctions Japan, or Facebook Marketplace. As long as you pay attention to seller ratings (e.g., 99% positive on eBay is solid) and only purchase listings which show actual pictures of the device with a return policy, the risk of scams is fairly low. Better yet, if you use PayPal with eBay, the buyer protection services are quite strong and usually guarantee a refund if you don't receive what was described in the listing. An alternative option would be to try as many retro game stores as you can find. However, Vitas haven't been readily available through the dozen or so stores I've been to in the past year. You'll also likely pay a small premium due to smaller stores having more overhead costs. This might be the best option though imo if you have a local spot that you'd like to support over online sellers. As for price, $200 should be your upper limit, unless you're trying to buy new in box or special edition consoles. However, I've seen plenty of Vita in decent condition selling for $100 - $150 in decent condition. Others have sold for well under $100 if some repair is needed or there's visible damage to the Vita in some way. Buying a Japanese console is also often a good idea, as those are often a bit cheaper and in good condition. The only difference compared to a North American model is that circle is coded as accept (instead of cross) throughout the system. If you're looking to buy an OLED model (1000 or 1001), buying the charging cables separately is an easy option if you find a console only listing for a great price. I've also gotten a few Vita to USB-C cables on Amazon for relatively cheap throughout the years that've worked fine. (Again, just pay attention to reviews before purchasing.) I'd also recommend leaving room in your budget for a memory card. Even if you plan to mod the system to use an SD2Vita micro SD adapter, the OLED Vita has no writeable internal storage which will make modding a bit more cumbersome. The current modding method can still work (by replacing Near with a needed program) but it'll be far less hassle to at least find a 4GB card to keep in your system. Alternatively, if you aren't looking to mod your system, I've found 16GB to be more than enough storage (Vita games run from 100 MB to 2 - 3 GB). Though, if your budget allows, buying more storage might be worthwhile.
I actually had one of these, and still have mine. Works great. It had some decent titles. For a hand held, it was kinda cool. It was an odd console but my dad got me one for my birthday years ago. It was cool.
Hi, so i bought a ps vita 2000 but now that the P4G game is available on ps4, pc, and switch i feel its a bit useless. And pn top off that there is the backbone and DS controller that makes remoteplay on ps vita less usefull. Do you see any reasons why the vita is still worth it more than a backbone or DS4 conected to my phone?
Yes, basically all the other games in the Vita's library. Persona 4 Golden is a great game, but there are a ton more games to dig into among the Vita's back catalog. If you're looking for a place to get started, I might recommend Gravity Rush, Guacamelee!, or Little Big Planet as really great action and platforming games. A lon of folks also swear by Soul Sacrifice, Freedom Wars, Steins;Gate, Killzone, or the various Final Fantasy ports. Honestly, just dig in and have fun! As for Remote Play, the strength of the Vita for streaming was always in how ridiculously solid its streaming quality has been despite it being on a 2.4G Wif-Fi connection. Since the moment the Vita lost Remote Play as an exclusive feature, it hasn't been the best method for Remote Playing any game that requires precise stick movements or triggers. That doesn't necessarily make playing on a phone a better option though, considering some of the downsides involved with those setups. If you'd like to see my full thoughts on that, I made whole video on the topic: th-cam.com/video/vf_5upgU0yc/w-d-xo.html
I have to say that I do not like Sony home consoles but in the case of their portable system I have really liked them, from the PSP to the PS Vita. I have been trying to hunt a PS Vita in good shape under $100, and three weeks ago I finally got one ($90 for model PCH-1003). I have to say that my experience with this little toy has been outstanding, I love the oled screen and its size. I think that PS Vita really fills portable, something that I do not fill with the nintendo switch oled and original model. The system when is modded is a beast but as has been said in the video, better stick to just play Vita games, PSP games, and PS games. I would recommended it in 2023.
The only bad thing about the vita is that it battery last only 2 hours and it's frustrated me because you cannot turn on the vita until it is fully charged
uhh no? the battery lasts 6 hours and i can turn it on mid way or even one third of battery while it’s charging. i got the fat vita 1000 that i been owning since 2013
@cachanilla1375 I also tend to get 3 - 5 hours of gameplay from my Vitas (depending on what I'm doing) and haven't noticed any issues powering on my Vitas with partial charges after depleting them. If you only tend to get 2 hours of play time, I'm wondering if your battery may be entering the end of its life and needs a replacement.
Great video. Tempting to get a Vita, I only really used my PSP for playing Driver 2 (PS1) so I might get a Vita to have a nicer hand held for that and better for other older system emulation.
I love my Vita, and still play it almost daily to this date, even after 11 years. My left thumbstick got practically corroded now, so I placed some rubber caps, and now it's better than ever. What a comfortable console;
Only problem is some of the ports are bad jax and daxter runs bad even though this handheld is supposed to be as strong as a ps3 and that is a ps2 game.
@@cosmicsvids I played the trilogy on the vita, and for what I've seen, the frame rate is locked to a low number. Other than that, I think it could be a smoother experience.
Depends on what you're looking for. If you want a handheld, the PS Vita fits the job better. Otherwise, the Wii U tends to have more unique experiences.
The only device shown in this video that can handle Dreamcast and PS2 emulation well would be the Steam Deck. Outside picking up a smartphone from the past few years, I think the Ayn Odin might be the cheapest handheld on the market that could mostly handle both those systems.
if sony refuse to support the vita then i refuse to give them any more of my money. corporations arent your friend, and the only reason why piracy is prevalent is because the lack of service and accesibility.
These days I mostly use my 512 GB hacked Vita for playing all of the PlayStation one classic I grew up with like Gran Turismo one and Gran Turismo two, twisted metal, one, two, three and four, Tony Hawk, one, two, three and four, in addition to a bunch of PSP games, Sega, 32X, Game Boy, advance, and Sega Genesis, and super Nintendo!!! it plays all of these wonderfully, with the exception that there are some gameplay advance games that just do not run worth a crap, mainly the 3-D ones… Combined with the fact that I have a bunch of arcade games and the actual arcade emulators installed, and it is a powerhouse of a device. I can play it for hours and hours and not ever find myself getting bored.!! PS1 games like Gran Turismo Gran Turismo two in vigilante eight and test drive, they all look wonderful on it !! Yesterday I was playing a little bit of need for speed, high stakes, and it looked absolutely wonderful and played great as well !! I was also blown away by how well Ridge racer and rage racer, my favorite of the Namco racers, played on the system !! The only game I found out of all the ones I have that didn’t run. The adrenaline was sledge storm, which was a snowmobile game made by EA back in the late 90s that was like Gran Turismo but for snowmobile racing.? it is an awesome game, but it is really laggy on adrenaline… and test drive off-road one doesn’t work at all??? But all of the other test drives work!!
Well I paid the local game shop. And sd2vita is a way to have a console that you fill up and that's it. Yeah I could delete games and get others. But the point to me is to have a retro console. I don't have a PS3 to add funds, so it is what it is. P.S. If you pirate for personal use and show the process for educational purposes. Then you are not cheating anyone. If you profit from this then that's different. As GameStop says "Power to the Player"
64 gb is the only way yo go if you want to have all physical games and legally download games from the store. 32 didn't cut it for me. I was full and stilled needed like 15 more games for the vita. So 64gb is the only way to go if you really want to collect
The vita was ahead of its time and suffered for it. Also those dang cards. Sony wanted to compete price wise with the 3ds and moved more cost to the cards. I think this was also one of the biggest mistakes.
Absurd pricing and my 16gb card died due to use of actually playing on my vita then tv….within months. I still use it along side my steam deck and switch…I prefer my slim over the OLED model….and because of the vita I prefer handheld/hybrid more…I have 4 kids…so it suits me better..,plus it’s easier to drink alcohol with it anywhere around the house 😅
@KingCrimson26 You can't directly add funds to your wallet directly using credit cards or payment services. Card codes are functionally like purchasing funds through another device, which is why they haven't blocked it.
if you have a 3G model of the OLED one, theres a nice solderless mod that lets you swap out the 3G module for another microSD card slot. Should solve the game cartridge slot problem, although you still need to hack your Vita for the OS to recognize the microSD
@The SONY Technology Enthusiast I didn't really do anything special. I just installed the latest build of Daedulusx64 I could find, transferred some ROMs to my system using Vita Shell, and booted the game. No tweaks necessary; everything worked without issue. @WRESTLINGFIGUREFEDERATION It might be worthwhile to make sure you have the latest build of Daedulusx64 installed. I'm using v.0.6 with auto update enabled from the Extra menu. There's also a compatibility list published for the emulator. Conker seems to be unplayable but OoT should be playable at least. Here's the link: daedalusx64.rinnegatamante.it/
If you got an OLED Vita with 3G you can get the best of both worlds. You can replace the 3G card inside the Vita with a custom board called the SD2VITA that replaces it with an internal MicroSD card reader. Then you can have all that extra storage while retaining the game card slot.
Sony doesn't put food on my kids' tables. Never felt even a little bit wrong pirating anything at all. Ever.

Vita doesn’t play ps2 games
I completely agree about the smart phones cannot be categorize as a gaming console. Yes, you can play games on it very well but it's not the same. It's like tomatoes being a fruit. Yes, it's a fruit but I can't eat them on my waffles.
I like this reasoning. Cocaine is now a fruit.
@@bash6519The irony is that phones can emulate PS Vita and Switch games lmao
I think possibly the biggest missed oppurtunity with the vita (to me) due to its poor sales and investment by studios, is not enough PS2 were ported to it. We know it is capable with MGS HD collection and GOW collection. Even now, we are waiting for a cheap device (so not like 250 or over), that can run ps2 games. Granted, what we are looking at currently are emulation devices, therefore are mostly less optimised for the games currently (if someone makes a breakthrough with the PS2 emulation programme, it could be possible to play it on existing devices).
You should check the Odin 2!!
Thanks for this excellent and well thought out video! Liked and Subscribed!😊
The fact that people still talk about this "failed" console after 11 years says a lot!
what japanese games have you been playing?
Where did you learn Japanese?
It wasn't easy but man it sure was fun.
you’re inspiring me to try and do this as a challenge. i just got a ps vita, waiting for it to arrive in the mail, i’m just watching non stop “vita in 2023” videos hyping myself up
How was it a phone?

how exactly were you calling people on a vita
I hacked my psvita yesterday after years of owning it . I'm finally getting more use out . Cant wait to upgrade the memory to 512gb . I always legitimately bought games but then they removed the option to add funds so I could not buy other games , by doing that they don't get my money . I'm sorry but they forced my hand .
Honestly, I totally get it. Unless someone has a PS5 or wants to deal with the hassle of prepaid cards, buying digitally is kinda a pain.
I use the ps app to fund my account to buy ps3 games, it wasn't complicated to me at all
The PS VITA has the ability to use your PS4 controller and play the mods.
That’s actually really cool I didn’t know that.

I recommend just hacking it it’s super easy and u don’t need a pc
@@shotgun_daddy-1089 I've been hacking my Vita since I bought it lol, although my Vita have been hacked but I still find physical copies of this console right now.
Yeah I had to pay right at $70 US for an English version and it did not even come with the case but it was the last one available on the store for that price and all the other copies were Japanese!!!
And to think I had all of these games back in 2016 to 2018…. Wish I had a never sold it, because my vita back then was in mint condition and you could not even tell it had been used with how clean it was!
Ok, this has to be one of the most informative and interesting videos ive ever seen on the vita. Gonna go pick one up.
It’s like we are reborn,
in the gameplay world
and trying a new console out.
It is for me, never owned a Vita and I picked up one yesterday for emulation, but im finding lots of nice things about the vita library
I bought a Vita for the start of 2024, and it's crazy good. Beat the 2DS in my heart immediately.

I think for all the negative sides, it's worth to get a retroid pocket 3 plus, or a similar hand held
I never understand why people insist on using physical media on portable consoles. It's just counter intuitive and a hassle.
It's actually a lot simpler than managing game downloads with limited storage space, especially when away from an internet connection. Plus, there's also the whole conversation regarding game ownership and longevity.
@@GameXData ah yeah I should have added 'when you've modded the console' haha. Vita storage is no longer an issue for me now anyways.
For me it's the fact I don't play games much anymore, however my vita has gotten the most use recently,
I enjoy physical media and I find I have more immersion and connection to the game when I go out and find a game in a used games store or just in general physically, I get that excitement of inserting the cartridge the first time and getting to play something new.
Handhelds are good because the physical media is so small, I love little ds and psvita cartridges
Amazing video. Very informative. Thanks for sharing!
How can you make PS vita able to read phisical games and downloaded games?

13:50 what game is that where character tries to get in television
Probably Persona 4 Golden
Also for anybody that gets those little thumb stick grips:
If you put a little bit of saliva on the underside prior to trying to get it on and then press it down and turn it ever so gently it’ll pop right on!!
1:03 didnt expect to see a Surface Duo :D
recommending the use of the vita proprietary sdcards is probably one of the worst things you can do for the vita
Are the servers still up for PlayStation all stars if so I’ll buy it again I need it
I think servers shut down a while ago. From what I gather, most of the Vita games are local play only at this point unless someone creates a private server.
still have my vita but don't like when the game says file is corrupt error.
Is there a way to flip r1/r2 on remote play games. Since r1/l1 are usually like light taps in games for menu or grenades.
a small correction the psp isnt actually emulated it's actually completely native
I really like how you color graded this video. Great video and very likable host!
Anyone know how does the version 1000 compare to the latter one in terms of buttons? I have a preference for mushier buttons
Can you mod a ps vita 1000 with just an og sony memory card? (32gb) Without buying an SD card or an adapater
Of course. A higher capacity Vita memory card is actually ideal for a modded console, since it doesn't take up the game card slot.
@@GameXDatathanks! I’ll definitely have to go and mod it. I’ve awoken it after 5 years now, and it runs like a dream.

(Again, just pay attention to reviews before purchasing.)
I'd also recommend leaving room in your budget for a memory card. Though, if your budget allows, buying more storage might be worthwhile.
where can you buy one
ok so your saying vita remoteplay over ps app on phone with DS4?
Personally, I'd say buy a Portal: th-cam.com/video/wlSsCulmPoU/w-d-xo.html
GET A GRIP FOR YOUR VITA! HOW ARE YOU STILL USING IT WITHOUT ONE??
I just got a psvita 1000 modded I can’t wait

My Vita lasts for days.
Battery life is the problem?
Great video. Tempting to get a Vita, I only really used my PSP for playing Driver 2 (PS1) so I might get a Vita to have a nicer hand held for that and better for other older system emulation.
I love my Vita, and still play it almost daily to this date, even after 11 years. My left thumbstick got practically corroded now, so I placed some rubber caps, and now it's better than ever. What a comfortable console;
My biggest question is psvita vs wiiu which is worth the money
Depends on what you're looking for. If you want a handheld, the PS Vita fits the job better. Otherwise, the Wii U tends to have more unique experiences.
What is the console that has Dreamcast and ps2 emulators built-in? I mean one in this video.
These days I mostly use my 512 GB hacked Vita for playing all of the PlayStation one classic I grew up with like Gran Turismo one and Gran Turismo two, twisted metal, one, two, three and four, Tony Hawk, one, two, three and four, in addition to a bunch of PSP games, Sega, 32X, Game Boy, advance, and Sega Genesis, and super Nintendo!!! it plays all of these wonderfully, with the exception that there are some gameplay advance games that just do not run worth a crap, mainly the 3-D ones…
Combined with the fact that I have a bunch of arcade games and the actual arcade emulators installed, and it is a powerhouse of a device.
But all of the other test drives work!!
it’s beautiful, its fun, and i’m learning a lot from it and how to work with its technology.
Whats the name of that gray handheld
It's a Retroid Pocket Flip.
How do you connect vita to pc?
Well I paid the local game shop. And sd2vita is a way to have a console that you fill up and that's it. Yeah I could delete games and get others. But the point to me is to have a retro console. I don't have a PS3 to add funds, so it is what it is.
P.S.
If you pirate for personal use and show the process for educational purposes. Then you are not cheating anyone. If you profit from this then that's different. As GameStop says "Power to the Player"
Thank you so much for this video!!
We really need a psp3
All in due time my brother
Can I log in Psn on henkaku version and use remote play?
Yes you can. Nothing has changed.
@@jenerossitea9247 won’t PlayStation block the device?
I need to get myself a PsVita they seem so cool its basically a hand held PS3.
When I was little I had the PSP and shortly after I got it, they released the PSvita. I still want one to this day😂
I had a Vita in 2014. Was a great experience since i had the PSP also
5:36 that's strange. I've still be able to add wallet funds directly on the Vita.
The feature was removed a while ago from both Vita and PS3.
@@GameXData not for me. I was able to add funds via Playstation Card Codes directly on my vita. I got mine back on Christmas last year.
@KingCrimson26 You can't directly add funds to your wallet directly using credit cards or payment services. Card codes are functionally like purchasing funds through another device, which is why they haven't blocked it.
You can connect a DualShock 4 wirelessly to a modded vita, this is a nice way to play and have l2 r2 buttons
Sir what console is this 03:05 ?
That's a Retroid Pocket Flip! Here's a link to a review we posted for it not too long ago: th-cam.com/video/_C9aycRInKw/w-d-xo.html
Great Video Man
Also get thumb stick grip pads as well those lil thumb sticks are insanely small..
I got stick drift on the right stick on my Vita 2000 😢
Oh no! I'm sorry for your loss. Are you going to attempt a replacement? I know iFixit has some parts and guides available.
@GameXData Probably won't fix it, I'll just sell it and buy a 1000 model since I've wanted one of those
@@deadtheories4170big W
if you have a 3G model of the OLED one, theres a nice solderless mod that lets you swap out the 3G module for another microSD card slot. Should solve the game cartridge slot problem, although you still need to hack your Vita for the OS to recognize the microSD
Excellent video. Thank you.
Planning on getting a vita to mod and play ratchet and sly but also to mess with and see what it is capable of.
It can do gba and gbc pretty well. Dreamcast and n64 emulation don’t work at all. So far only Mario 64 will launch
N64 emulation has been working fine for me. In the video, I even show Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and Paper Mario running with only minor issues (if any).
@@GameXData i use daedalusx64 not sure if i need to tweak something, i tried conkers bad fur day and ocarina of time with no luck
@@GameXData hey man, can you please show us how exactly you downloaded Nintendo games, etc. on your Vita?
Here's the link: daedalusx64.rinnegatamante.it/
Quick question , would I get ban if I have my main account signed in when jailbreaking or modding my ps vita ?
Probably not. Or, at least, I haven't yet after months of using my account for PS Store downloads and cloud saves on a modded Vita and PS TV.
Sony doesn't care enough about the Vita. A friend of mine has been using a modded Vita for years now and no ban.
If you got an OLED Vita with 3G you can get the best of both worlds. You can replace the 3G card inside the Vita with a custom board called the SD2VITA that replaces it with an internal MicroSD card reader. Then you can have all that extra storage while retaining the game card slot.
Correction: it’s called the PSVSD. The SD2Vita is the one that occupies the gamecard slot on any model.
@@d0minant24 Woops, that is correct. My bad, thanks!
My Friend Sold me a Modded Vita. Best $150 I’ve ever spent. I have a lot of PSP and Vita games and it’s a vibe. I love it
