    This is the hospital bag video everyone needed. Everyone else is Packing way too much. I remember I didn’t have much that I took aside from 2 pair baby clothes, 1 moo moo for me and a change of clothes to go home in.

    Your chill perspective was super helpful! People make way too big a deal about this on the internet and it can stress you out as a new mom. But it’s truly not a big deal. My hospital is 15 minutes away, local roads. Worse case scenario hubby goes home to get anything we need.

      We live about 20 mins away, locals roads and the hospitals is close to plenty shopping centers so if we’re missing anything we can make a quick trip. However I do understand not everyone has that setup and has a person nearby to support them.

    I had my son in 2019, emergency c-section at 36 weeks, and I had a 6 day hospital stay. 😵‍💫 Absolutely brutal. There were 3 things I was really glad to have. The 1st thing was a bath robe! Hospital gowns open in the back, and I just felt so much better when I was walking the halls and visiting the NICU knowing that my butt wasn’t hanging out for the world to see. The 2nd thing was my own breast pump. I my hospital had hospital grade breast pumps and each of the mother-baby unit rooms, but the one in my room was broken and they didn’t have extras. 🙄 it was also really nice to be able to have the lactation consultants show me how to use the actual breast pump that I would have to use at home. The 3rd thing was my hands-free pumping bra. That allowed me to pump while I was holding my tiny baby.
    I was the over-packer… I brought makeup and a hair dryer. If I had only been in the hospital for 2 days, I wouldn’t have touched them. But since I was there nearly a week… it was nice to be able to get myself put together. Totally unnecessary though.

    • @faithbloiun7985
      @faithbloiun7985 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree q the breast pump...I had to use one of the old hand pumps the hospitals had 15 yrs ago n it was brutal....I ve now adapted things like dry shampoo for reg shampoo n conditioner...n snacks are a must for me managing my blood sugar...6 days is brutal..I hope I don't have a c section ..n your e lucky the hands free bras worked ..I have too big a cup size n they do t feel too well🙃🙃

    Also remember: every hospital is different! It’s always great to call in advance and ask them what they provide and what they don’t so (hopefully) you can prepare. My hospital didn’t provide toothbrushes or other toiletries but they DID have a charger I could use, go figure! Also, MOST hospitals provide diapers and wipes but I have heard some people say their hospital didn’t provide those things and they had to have their own.

    • @jdog8362
      @jdog8362 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And to add to this, take an extra empty bag to bring home diapers and wipes and formula (if your hospital provides these things). They usually let you bring all this stuff home.
      And pack extra clothes for yourself in case you have a longer stay. Everyone told us we’d only be there for 1-2 days but we had a 4 day stay so I was glad to have extra clothes.

  • @kathleenmeiste2975

    I will say, I took a blanket and my own pillow (and packed a blanket/pillow) for hubby which stayed in the car until after delivery. But the blanket was so comforting. I bought it on sale in a dark color (in case it got gross) but it was super soft and fuzzy. It made such a difference with keeping me calm. I have back/neck issues so my own pillow was a must. The hospital did tell me though that I should put a different color pillowcase on it so it didn't match the hospital pillows.

  • @LeanneWetzel
    @LeanneWetzel ปีที่แล้ว +25

    Such a great list. I lived in the hospital stuff, even in recovery because it meant less laundry. The postpartum gowns had horrible puff sleeves, but honestly I didn’t care at that point. My only add to your list is snacks, especially for your support person. We also packed a separate bag with extra clothes which stayed in the car in case we ended up needing to stay longer. No need to drag all those “what ifs” into the hospital. It’s just more things that need to be washed when you get home.

    I'm 23 days away from my third scheduled c section and I will be taking the bare essentials like charger and snacks. I always just wear the hospital gown and enjoy not changing too much. They already have everything for baby and I only pack a going home outfit and save all my essentials for home. I also bring an extra blanket. Keep it simple and you won't risk leaving anything or stressing about what you may forgot.

    I am almost 35 weeks pregnant with my first child, and this video was extremely insightful, because I was kind of stressing about what to pack. Other than mine and my husbands toiletries, changes of clothes for us, the onesie we want the baby to wear home, our phone chargers, and some on the road snacks, we may just do like you and let me rely mostly on the hospital for the stuff I will need

    As a first time momma I was so uncomfortable at the hospital after birth. I only had my mom as support but she was busy with my sister’s kids! I didn’t bring anything for me or my son. He was literally just in diapers and hospital swaddle 😢 and I was only in robe and loose panties😢! This time around I’m making sure I bring what I need 😅 a hair brush & hair tie for sure😂

We have a hospital/baby bag for my husband but I personally don’t have one yet as money is tight and I didn’t receive a bag in the baby shower. We’re probably going to just grab a backpack and fill it with snacks and electrolytes drinks for husband and I from dollar tree.

    Definitely worth bringing your breastfeeding pillow. If I bring nothing this second pregnancy, I'm 100% bringing that!!! Your in so much pain down there. You need the support from the breastfeeding pillow to help you get the baby in a good position for feeding. I requested like 9 pillows try to support me and my baby but that didn't help like my breastfeeding pillow did. Make sure your breastfeeding pillow has good support and isn't one of those that's just stuffing and no foam. That's if you want to have a successful time breastfeeding without putting your groin in more pain than it will already be in.
    TMI warning, but trying to sit up straight to support the baby for feeding just pulled my stitches and hurt so so so bad. My pillow allows me to lay back but keeps the baby in a good position so that I don't have to sit up straight. I hope this helps someone....

    This video was super helpful! Would you be open to us sending you our all natural pain relieving body balm for a review? They help you find relief without NSAIDS, lidocaine, preservatives, or steroids! Please let us know if you are interested 💚
