Then pick up the books by Andrew Loomis. His teacher Geroge Bridgman and his contemporary Burne Hogarth. Those are all the books we used at the Chicago Art Institute to teach anatomy and reinforce the drawing basics.

It's better to learn how to draw and rotate a box. If you can do that it eliminates a lot of the guess work you'd be doing with this method. Also builds spacial awareness.
Getting back into drawing and out of all the videos I've seen with heads, this video is the one to watch. I truly am thankful for the video and feel like with some more practice I can nail down this Loomis Method. Thanks again.

I wouldn’t copy this. Some things are correct but the drawings look very wrong. Most of the heads lack the amount of cranium the head actually needs to house a brain.
I struggle with the Loomis method but you’ve explained it and made it easy! Will have a practice with this later ☺️ thank you

I’ve used this technique many times. It takes a couple of attempts before you feel confident. I like using conte pencils for that DaVinci look.

First of all I appreciate your well explanation, Really good job 🎉 but I will mention that the head Will bend to girls side together not only the head and second, The neck is getting smaller when they taper down

I'd argue that "Figure Drawing for All It's Worth" is his best book. Drawing the Head and Hands is not very approachable. That's why this is a hodge-podge version of the method. Even "Fun with a Pencil" isn't very fun.

What's crazy is I've struggled with heads for a long time. I'm much more logical and I need specific lines and shapes I can adjust if needed. The normal draw head tutorials just never worked for me

I’ve been looking for so long for something where this is explained to me. I’ve watched videos on how to draw a head but none of them explained it in a way that would let me use the method for a different head than the one in their video.

Nice method. Now, I only have to learn to draw a circle.
You'd be surprised, joking aside. Many artists use circle templates. There are these stencils you can buy that have different stencils sizes for basic shapes. And obviously we use rulers.
I have a shaky hand. It is what it is but it's not going to stop me from making art and improving my art.
In fact I felt a lot better about it when I bought a book where it actually recommended that artists use these for consistency and quickness. You spend less time looking at your circle to make sure it's perfect.

When I started the video I was practicing all along and learned everything in one go 😊. By the way, I practiced it in my economics book 😂
I have to re-train my brain to SEE how a head is drawn. Other tutorials I was getting so frustrated because I couldn't see what they were doing in my mind. My brain is wired so differently. I know if I can get the formula you show here down I can break through the block keeping me from grasping the way to do it. You helped me to 'see' a bit better. Thank you!

In the illustration of head in a side angle view, how do you decide the size of the ellipse? once you draw the ellipse and eye brow line and the nose line, with what measurement do you place the center line?
