- Blow to Democracy: Thailand's Parliament Fails to Confirm New PM | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Pita Limjaroenrat, the winner of Thailand's general election, fails to secure enough support to become Prime Minister. He says he will try again next week. But will the next vote be any different? You see, Thailand's democracy has been rigged, by its military. The Military Junta have created a system that makes it almost impossible for anyone to take charge without their support.

I expected something like this the first time I heard an anti military politician won
Is their point in elections and voting anymore , just let military take office they should show their true face stop playing games
There were 50m vote in this election. 14m vote for Pita and 10m vote for the party that allied with Pita. But he cant be p.m. cuz those old senete from former dictator government don’t want him to be p.m. so he cant. Tell me how is that fair?
Did he win 50%? No. He won an election but not enough to secure a parlement vote. Do you think if it happens in a west , will it label blow to democracy ? It is normal....
SHAME!!!
The elections was just a farce. Well what can we expect? When the military is higher than the duly elected government which they were supposed to protect, dictatorship results. Thailand is really sisters with Myanmar. Don't copy us in the Philippines during the Martial Law Years, too many people died and suffered as a consequence. My heart goes to all the Thai People. 🙏😔
There were actually 39m people who can vote. Where did you get those 50m numbers from ? 💀
@@Anistotle Lemme correct myself and your. There were 52m people who can vote. Only 39m came to vote and the other are people who didnt go to vote or their vote have a problem. So yes,we both right and wrong.
Ofc source is google man.
It’s very abhorrent and disgusting that the non-elected Senators did this! They were selected to be Senators by the Junta government. Half of them are in military or police department. I hope the politic, military, and other entities will be reformed in Thailand.
Thai military leaders learn from their master in Myanmar 🇲🇲
Pita is a CIA shill.
indeed!!!
"All going according to the plan". God forbid the civil war in Thailand
Its actually the other way round. Myanmar military leader is adopted son of former Thai military leader who became one of the prime minister during 1980-88. Myanmar also copied Constitution law from Thailand.
@@Taareel1a whole gsng of criminals I see they clone each others
Unfair deadly evil game evil Military dictatorship nastiest GAME SHAME!! 😢😢😢
The military and Royalty in Thailand are despicable. Such a wonderful Country with such wonderful people should be free and democratic. Too many of these South Eastern countries, especially Myanmar and Cambodia are gripped by military corruption. Let's hope that the people of Thailand can prevail over these military crooks.
I just read article about cambodia president appointing his son as his successor and he have no shame in announcing it , disgusting people.
Shame!!!
Millitary Internal Threat for all Thais!!! Pita moving forward party game change party Vote for PITA! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉 lets go!!!
The Myanmar Junta taught thailand this move, a Hun Sen move
Deadly disaster the Coup Myanmar still struggle for survival two years later lessons learned in life for EVIL CRIMINAL! !
Philippines was once ruled under a military dictatorship. It was one of the worst era in our history which took us decades to recover. Even worse than World War 2.
Nope, that's a good false story.
Worse than WW2?! Gimme a break! As if you were already around during that time.
@@romeocivilino6667*A good story based on facts
@@thirdeye8 yes I insist far worse than world war 2. Because when Japanese surrendered they paid our country war reparations. How about the dictator? They picked our land dry.
@@gabsacro8980 correct man
May be they choose to fight with people, like Myanmar do
Same old MILITARY dogs like Myanmar knows no new TRICKS! !! 😂😂😂
that’s what they do best.
When you rig the game but your opponent win it anyway.
🇹🇭สวัสดี
Pita got overwhelming support from Thai 🇹🇭 people but was denied a country leadership.
By contrast, unelected Chinese 🇨🇳 Xi Jinping changed constitution to be emperor for life.
China is ruled by a single party, the communist, they are free to write anything. Totalitarian.
He is not radical. Look at your own country.
Own COUNTRY?? Shame coz hes Prayuts Master of EVILS The Criminal Coup Evil DICTATORS of Myanmar tge Story goes!!! BIG SHAME!!!
Oh dear what happened to the so call smiling city
Weird system 😢
stand with thailand pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee
The rifles always win!
Citizens have the duty to elect MPs.(Lok Sabha ) .The senators( Rajya Sabha)are responsible for voting and certifying the prime minister with MPs.
Palki Sharma needs to report about the reserve call-up signed into law by Biden.Though it states on 3000, its the first step to reserve mobilization. Similar thing happened in the 1960's in Vietnam. They need to precursor to be done that opens the door to larger scale reserve activation. This is some big news flying under the radar.
She is no longer with Wion?
This is half true. Pita's party resist to reform monarchy and lese-majesty law. They are also support behind the group of young protestors who want to reform or get rid of monarch.
The goal of this party is not only about monarch but also instability of military , be a partner of US and western rather than China. Thier movement is of course might be in favor of the west however a risk for country.
Pita could get enough votes to become PM from Phum Jai Thai and some of senators if his party will not continue on this reform. However the former lead of this party would not allowed him to agree on this deal. Therefore , he couldn't become PM on the first vote.
You need to understand that this party is completely left wing( liberalism) while other parties in Thailand are middle left or middle right. To become PM , you need to get majority of house representative and senate. This is the rule and everyone know before election.
I wish to see a better Thailand. I feel disappointed.
Swathika from india 😅
Similar story😂😂😂😂
Well i guess the only to get to be prime minister is go through military
was there nationality freedom and hope. like Canada's ?
Yes all the best to the 14 millions voters only way to solve this unfair democracy is to go back on the streets again the world is watching daily Saddhu Saddhu Saddhu

Yup. Smells of Pakistan but the economy of Thailand is doing well.
yes ,Thai currency is strong and country is in progressing
Offcourse pakistan had better economy under army rule before 1990's..with the end of cold war and continuation of army rule, economy started to scramble..Thailand just began their military rule..I won't be surprised Thailand becoming next mynmmar or pakistan in next 4 decades without democracy
ขอบคุณประยุทธ์ ค่ะจันทร์โอชาด้วยจ้าาค่ะ
Rogue Indian Firstpost published wrong information on several occasions like this! This channel is not general education..😢
The failure of social medias ruling system.
He only get 151 not even harp of it .... and some more want to fefrom monachy protection law !!!!!! Who want him to be a leader ,?? Most of thai people dont want him
From WION to Firstpost?!
If this is the case...why the Thai citizen voted in the first place..if the unelected senator hv the upper hand...poor are the voters

Your Camera seems to be tilted. Check it
151 from 550 is not a big win
The dictator cheated Pita. What a shame.
Thailand FIGURE THAT OUT!!LEAVE THE STONE AGE!!THE DARK AGES!!GET A PM!!(PRESIDENT ...(
What a blow to Thailand, especially since they are climbing their way into the global north/developed class of nations. This junta could shake democracy and passively ruin quality of life.
This is happening all over the world it happened in 2020 in the US
No it didn't. Trump lost, Biden won. Sometimes the guy you want to win doesn't win.
In that case, the King should interfere and give advice to each party leader, so that the new PM could be appointed democratically.
I think, only Rama IX could to that. Seems that he who was the last hope for the people, remember May 1992. But the current king seems to absolutely do not care about the current political situation. He behaves like Nicholas II or Gyanendra. What happened to them, everyone knows
Thai people could not share comments on this issue unless any changes in some of the law.
What if you did you all jobs ,select a PM WITHOUT STUPIDITY,RIFTS!!& RECEIVE.A FEW BILLION DOLLARS???GOT TIL FRIDAY!!!THIS WEEK!!
...you mistake about my constitution...not you have to won in upper parliament/senate....you can win by 376 in lower parliament...not only half(251) to be a prime minister....it's rules...before election...everybody knows...
general Prayoot can do it....but Pita can't...
ရရင်ရ မရရင်ချ
Thai people need revolution. I am Myanmar. God bless you all.
India has lot of problems...but in 75 years ...no millitary dictatorship...no civil war.. Unity among 140crore people with so many languages., Many Religions, so many cultures..and yet we are united..this is unity in diversity..all credit goes to Nehru....now look at so called great Britain ..less than 3 lakh sq km, less than 7 crore people .. Scotland vs England, ireland vs England..😂
indira and rajiv ghandi declared emergency... there are many communication and internet blackouts done by government in india happening even in present times... I was a victim of internet backout for 3 months in a particular region of india in 2017... they didnt care if people were doing remote work and sustaining their life.. what i mean it say is every country has their own problems and we should be empathic toward them.
and yeah there is a civil war going on right now in manipur.
Do you actually believe there is any Democracy in Thailand ?😢
We Know clearly he is a Thai Zelensky. From this name being you would know the rest of the story.
Unless the thai people and Thai military have unequal power distribution. Thailand future will experience stumble blocks
Confirm the elected Prime Minister quickly. That's a sacred duty to the free land of Thailand; and Thailand is a very free land. Royal prerogatives and power are legitimate and even sacred; Royal duty is challenging and necessary. The military is of course important but cannot legitimately entirely replace civilian and democratic governance. This doesn't work well in utilitarian terms; and it looks primitive, say African, to the developed and western world. And Thailand needs liberal modernization; I lived and taught at Phetchaburi Rajabhat University mixing much with those who lived in bamboo huts and of course with the circles Generals businessmen and such that a Professor comes to know. You must confirm this Prime Minister; A military government without an elected civilian leader is not the Thai way and it's not seen as legitimate by American and European investors and expats and potential tourists. Please confirm the elected Prime Minister; He's not going to be powerful enough to denigrate military or royal power much. Humor me.
Please we don't need war in Thailand. The king can also help the people
There need UN for clear up
Was Thai better under monorchy, calm, stable and peaceful ?
yes we are happy and satisfied with ours king,he is very kind
NO
External powers interference in internal affairs of Smaller East Asian countries, bringing instability, strife, chaos.
Mahadevan, you truly don't know what it is to live under a military dictatorship; so it will be nice to shut up and leave the thinking to the Thai people.
My comment got deleted 💀
but truthfully speaking no
I probably violated some lése-majeste law in my old comment, good luck to myself
Looks like Thais are tired of there bootleg king😂😂😂
May the King rule long!
50 million of Thai say no to Pitaa ,we dont want to be second Ukrain
Whole voice that voting is 50m. 14m vote for pita and 10m vote for For Thai party. That old Dictator got only 4m vote. So how 50m say no to pita?
Such a shameful way of thingking and mind set!
Shallow illiterate thoughts indeed!!
That is the thinking of Thai's junta supporterr
, and we call them "salim"
Lol typical Salim
You are wrong. Thai Government and Military do not take part and this is the only reason that Pita L. got the highest vote. Unfortunately, out of 14 million people that vote for him is only 20% of the total Thai voters. Now he needs extra vote to support his post. I am asking you to provide the truth and do not be too quickly give others with wrong comments! 👎👎👎 Thanks.
You clearly don’t understand politics and the political system in Thailand, or you work for the military Junta. Thailand is very corrupt.
Miritaly IO
10+14m = 24m out of 39m who came to vote. For me that’s over 50 %
