Zimbabwe's newly reelected president, Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed his son as the country's deputy defence minister. He has also made is nephew a cabinet minister.
The opposition parties in Zimbabwe have accused Mnangagwa of nepotism and of dragging the country back into the days of authoritarianism.

The endorsement by South Africa and the diplomatic row with Zambia is showing how SADC has a growing rift between revolutionary parties and nations which have had a change of government. Mnangagwa wouldn't be the first or last to appoint family members as you can see from the examples I gave. Besides, his son has been very active in Zanu youth structures, a key constituency. He also campaigned and won a seat in parliament, so nothing was handed to him. Most importantly, he is a Zimbabwean and has every right to serve in government.
