Remnants of the Wynyard Station Tram Line
Wynyard Station Platforms 1 & 2 which are located right beside Platforms 3 & 4 were used for Trams and ran services to/from Sydney’s North Shore.
These platforms closed in 1958.
The tunnels and area where the platforms were located were used for the Menzies Carpark until Menzies was demolished.
The tunnels and ex platform area still exist and are used for the “Dark Spectrum” event during Vivid Sydney.
Dark Spectrum started in 2023 and was proved to be popular! So much so that it returned for Vivid 2024.
This video shows a walkthrough where Platforms 1 & 2 were and the tunnel portal where Trams entered and exited to and from the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Very good video phil at Wynyard station ❤
those nooks are called refuges, I believe
I went to the vivid event and it’s very loud but I highly recommend it!
Hi Phil, great video. I remember years ago during the 1970s, heading up the stairs to the car park to see what it looked like. When entering, a security guy asked me what I was doing there and I said that I thought it was part of the railway station. He looked at me suspiciously and then told me to leave immediately, which I did very quickly. i later heard that there had been several other tram enthusiasts visiting there like me and also giving lame excuses after being approached. Soon after, they closed off that stairway, which actually was the same stairway that used to connect to the tram platforms. Back in the 1950s, I actually rode the trams from Wynyard across the Harbour Bridge as a child. It was always one of my favourite tram trips. I wonder if this area could be all reopened for light rail or even a Metro in years to come?? Just outside of the tunnel portal on the bridge to the left, there used to be a tram stop for passengers to catch the tram from there. I don't remember any ramps from the Wynyard end being there when the trams were running. It seemed to be more flat back then. Milson's Point had a station for the trams much like the train station. the trams then went over a viaduct before entering North Sydney back on the road. The train and tram platforms used to be divided by a wooden fence, similar to a fence in a back yard and it was even possible to see the tops of the trams and trains passing from the opposite platforms. Anyway, take care. Rob in Melbourne Australia.

Nice Video man
I remember catching trams from Wynyard to Milsons point in the late fifties.
Cool
Hard to believe that it's been 10 years since you filmed that video of the Wynyard Tram Line Remnants.
I actually never knew it existed
It is good
And the thing you said last video is going forever! 😅
