  • Join me, a Scotch drinker, exploring a range of bourbons made by a Scotch drinker who started a bourbon distillery! In this whisky review, I explore three Rabbit Hole Bourbons perfect for scotch drinkers:
    • Cavehill Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey - Four Grain Triple Malt
    • Heigold Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey - High Rye Double Malt
    • Dereringer Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey - Double Barrel - PX Sherry Cask

Rabbit Hole Distillery was started by a self-proclaimed Scotch drinker who, when introduced to Bourbon, went so far down the rabbit hole he decided to inject new life in the American whiskey industry. And that’s why I’ve had my eye on this distillery for years. I’m a single malt drinker actively opening myself up to ALL whiskeys, and bourbon is just the start.
As the Rabbit Hole range isn’t available in Australia, a big thank you goes to Doc Martinez of ‪@OldFashionedWays‬ for sharing these with me. You've brought a satisfying end to a whiskey hunt that’s been going on for years.

Hey bud, Sorry I missed this video. Not sure how. I missed it. I also preferred the Derringer over the others. I also thought the basic one was not anything special. I did get to visit the distillery and really enjoyed it. They do some special releases but really haven't tried many of them. Great review. Spot on. cheers.

Thanks mate, and thanks again for sending the samples. When I revisited them after doing the video I came to love the Heigold more and more. I’m going to have to bargain with the next family member visiting the States to bring back a bottle.

@@thewhiskyscribe I’d send you a bottle but think it would cost too much to ship

@@OldFashionedWays I don’t think our customs would let it through either.

It's a pun, mixing Dare with Derringer (a small pistol, often used in prohibition times for it' easy concealment)

Sounds interesting Nath I've never heard of them but Turkey is not a great market for bourbons anyway. Glad it wasn't a let down after all this time. Cheers my friend!

Australia hasn’t been great for bourbons either, but it seems to be changing.

Minor, possibly interesting legal pedantry: “bourbon aged in X barrels” cannot be sold as just “bourbon.” It is technically in the broader “American whiskey” category, as bourbon proper must be aged exclusively in new oak. A lawyer will understand “Bourbon aged in X barrels” to mean, “this was made using bourbon as an ingredient, which was then aged in X barrels.” Of course this is all just legal pedantry, and I love my finished bourbon! But there it is.

@@DaineDanielson that’s really interesting. I wonder how many “bourbons” that would affect on the market today.
