Hey David. Look at the demographics of Red States compared to Blue states. That will tell you a lot about why Red States cost more. Yes there is higher GDP in Blue states at the cost of higher taxes and cost of living. There's a reason so many people are leaving the West coast and the North East to come to the South.
The spineless Democrats had 2 damn years to legislate against violating our Constitution with contempt for the ethics and limits of power it dictates. Making accusations in Congress without presenting overwhelming evidence is a direct violation to the innocent until proven guilty clause of Our Constitution!!
He’s not wrong. I’m in a red state Mississippi. It’s a piece of shit of a state. It’s one of the poorest states, but at least I know my conscience and hands are clear. I voted for the prosecutor not the felon. 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
The term was coined by right wing news pundits. So let each state deal with the mass deportation. Let each state pay for it themselves. Let Florida and Texas mass deport all those construction and farm workers. And we will sit back and watch the economic fallout when all those white maga voters don't pick up those hammers and shovels. Blue states will be just fine.
We in California have 40% of the population of the U.S. and yet we pay 70% of the Federal Taxes that the country gets every year. Quite frankly, I'm sick & tired of the "Red States" hate for California all while happily spending/taking advantage of the Money that we provide for them. Then there is the 50 to 75 Percent of the food they eat. They keep saying they wish California would leave the U.S. They should be careful what they wish for, they just might get it. We have the world's 5th highest economy in the world. Many other countries would be happy to have our products. As for Donald & his Morons: FDJT & his minions!
I’m a proud Californian. I’m tired of freeloader red states hating on us also but California doesn’t have 40% of the US population. It is more like 10%. We don’t pay 70% of the taxes either.
My uncle moved away from us in AL to San Fran in the 70's til 2004 (died tragically flying his plane). He had a very productive, lucrative life. Had a plane, for example! 🥰Was so exciting to visit him during the Olympics. How I'd love to have gone w/him again for the upcoming games in LA! 💙There are millions of us who for whatever reason live in red states, gerrymandered & churched to death, who vote blue for our better interests! I really thought we'd win this time. Still stunned & grieving but getting ready to fight smarter.💙🤗
@@nancystowell4877 I’m a proud native Californian and I don’t like supporting ignorant residents of red states but CA has about 10% of the US population and doesn’t pay 70% of the taxes. We pay more than our share but nowhere near 70%.
Also California has a really high crime rate, highest unemployment, slowest job growth most homeless people and the people that live their pay top dollar for everything they buy
You have that backwards. Whatever a Democrat is accusing you of is exactly what their doing! FEDERAL JUSTICE DEPT CONDIRMS "26" FBI AGENTS IN CROWD JANUARY 6TH.
You can take you education and $2 to get you a cup of coffee. Blue states are losing population, Cali lost a seat in the house. Investors are steering clear of blue states. You’d think with such highly educated people that wouldn’t be the case.
@@roddycreswell8613 cool story bro, i'll just take some idiot in the youtubes comments word for it. Investors steer clear of blue states because red states allow their people to be exploited by low wages and poor working conditions.
I live in California, It may be expensive, but I will take that over the policies, the idioiticisy, and moronic tendencies of a red state any day!!! Love my state, and I will do anything and everything to keep it out of MAGA control!!! ✊️
I live in NJ and I agree. It may be expensive to live here, but we get a lot back that red states don't have. We have great education, reasonable taxes, benefits paid to us to assist in property taxes. Seem to have good health care. Certainly better than most red states. .
This reminds me of someone I know whose family is uninsured because they view the Affordable Care Act as socialism. However, when their family member almost died from covid and had over $100,000. in hospital bills, they were okay with letting medicaid pay the bill.
Joel Osteen has multiple mansions, yachts & Lambos for a reason. Gullibility is the weakest part of the American experiment. It would have taken a nuclear war to pry Americans' republic from them. Rupert Murdoch did it by appealing to "redneck insecurity", and took the lowest possible road - he pumped nothing but lies & propaganda from his FOX monster for decades. What we all found comfort in, was that any adult would easily know they're being lied to, and would at the very least be offended with that. But Murdoch's plan worked brilliantly - when Don, a diapered, draft-dodging inheritor, atheist, lifelong Democrat and union-busting man-cow called our greatest heroes "suckers & losers", multiple times & in that context, to the most heavily armed population on the planet, not only did he survive saying that, THEY FELL FOR IT. His "church on Sundays" act he tried while campaigning, his going on record as extremely pro-abortion (having paid for a double digit # of them in the 80s & the 90s, as well for his sons in college), it didn't matter how cringeworthy it was, they actually fell for it. Like toddlers. They're about to find out what happens to "welfare states" that don't make Don any money. And they handed him unchecked power. That's how simple & gullible these folks have become. How does any amoral politician NOT make political hay from that? They don't know HOW to vote but the one way. It's wasted on them.
Not only that, but a lot of skilled migrants to America want to go home. Some have already left. The right laugh also when music and movie stars say they want to leave. But those people are brands who create hundreds if not thousands of jobs
It sounds dramatic but I am not sure if I'll recover from the Harris-Walz defeat. I'm in my 8th decade & cannot bear that my last years are likely going to be under the travesty that is Trump.
Orange County? Cause that's where I'm from and live if so. Florida truly has become the worst state in the country when it comes to being a red state...
@@taylorsinclair1313I had to go to Sanibel in February. The island was still in very bad shape with only a few restaurants and shops open after the hurricane about 2-3 years ago. Was talking to a lady in a store asking her how the politics is down here. She told me she had a gun pulled on her twice because of her bumper sticker. It said Trump 2024 and in tiny words under it saying FOR PRISONS. She said her daughter and SIL moved to France and she can’t wait to get the hell out of Florida.
If you don't mind me asking, where did you leave and where did you go? I'm in Northern Virginia and I'm so glad that I'm not in a red state, but I'm still deeply saddened that a Red State administration is running things. Despite its bad weather, I wonder if Minnesota is a good one.
@zarplex2003 I don't mind at all. I left Florida and moved to New Mexico. Prior to moving here, I had never set foot in this state before. My family thought i was a bit nuts because of how i decided where to move. I created this algorithm that spit out an area that would fare best faced on a bunch of environmental, social, er, political, etc. factors. Plus, the cost of living is dirt cheap, the state is beautiful, residents get free in state college tuition, and if things go pear-shaped in the U.S., the border isn't far. According to my algorithm, which factored in a second Trump presidency and climate change, rural New Mexico is about one of the safest place you can be the way things are going. For many reasons. My family still thinks I'm a bit nuts but less so now.
@@XCaptianXChaosX Huh. That's an interesting perspective. I haven't been to New Mexico. Probably closest was Colorado. I loved the weather at least in that particular region of Colorado. I'll have to check New Mexico some time, heh.
I left Texas 5 years ago and moved to Illinois and it was the best decision I ever made. I no longer work paycheck to paycheck. I actually have a little money in my bank account. Just bought a new car a year ago. My son and his family are moving up here in January.
I spent my career in New Jersey construction and retired in Oklahoma a decade ago. Oklahoma loyalty votes Republican no matter what! Our leaders give us the worst schools in the nation and the lowest minimum wage! When I asked when neighbors why they are loyal Republicans they get insulted! They can't answer why they won't vote for a Democrat, just get disgusted and walk away cursing! What we are experiencing today was our Founders greatest fear, tribalism! Voting against your own good because your tribe does it!
Although I’m not American, from my understanding, most loyal republican voters continue to vote republican because they’re told that the Democrats are evil. As they are “Christian “ and, they truly believe what their church leaders tell them, they will never consider that it is in fact the republicans that are evil. They have voted for a convicted felon, a fraudster, a liar, a cheat, a con man, a traitor and they are happy to overlook all the evidence against trump because they put religion above their own interests.
I live in Florida but I’m a Democrat. I’m so tired of people bashing the state of California. I finally said to some of those people who are Republicans lately, imagine if California were to become its own country. They already have the 5th largest country in the world. We’d have to import most of our fruits and vegetables from them, we wouldn’t have LA or Hollywood rich people paying taxes, we wouldn’t have the technology innovation and taxes of the people in the Bay Area and imagine we don’t have access to the ports on the Pacific Ocean. Nothing from China coming in. And we wouldn’t have the federal income taxes that all the rich people in California pay. We’d suffer tremendously as a country. Most people don’t know what to say.
Thank you for putting in a good word for us 💙 I love it here and also think Florida is very beautiful and nice and warm and it's nice to hear from a Florida Democrat 💙 I hope your State eventually goes blue 💙 😊🙏 it could happen 🙂🙏😀
Cuomo, made this distinction during covid when McConnell proudly announced blue states weren't deserving of any federal dollars because of mishandling their budgets. Governor Cuomo told McConnell "Give us our tax money back that goes to support your state of Kentucky and we wouldn't need federal dollars".
I live in New York State, we subsidize red state. New York sends millions of dollars to our federal government to help support red states. As a New Yorker I pay very high taxes, I would prefer to keep my tax money in New York. Southern states need to raise taxes to support themselves. Why should I as a New Yorker support any other state.
I’m originally from West Virginia when I was 11 years old my father took me away from there so myself and my brothers got better ourselves I wasn’t happy because I was a little and I didn’t wanna leave my home state but nowadays I don’t even want to bother to go back home anymore to be around a bunch of ignorant people who can’t see the forest for the Woods
I stayed in a very red section of Texas for 6 months to help out family. What I noticed was that the poor had been poor for a long time and the older people were not healthy. However, they needed help so I got to know them a little. What became clear is they had never known anything else and had accepted their suffering as inevitable. I talked to them about what it could be like and how we need Universal Healthcare. They loved the idea but still thought no one would live where they live to help them. Sad, sad, sad.
When a company hunts for a state to locate their company, they look for a HIGHLY educated populace. Which is why Massachusetts, with the #1 public school system, and #1 quality of life, has a high concentration of knowledge industries.
It depends. If they produce simple, easily manufactured goods or provide basic, easily mastered services, they look for states (or countries) with the lowest pages and weakest labor laws--and _that_ is why so many corporations which actually make tangible goods have been leaving the U.S. If the Southern states still had slavery, companies like that would flock to them.
@@ericlipps9459 true. Yet Americans demand cheaper priced goods and Republicans would whine about the higher prices domestic products would cost (though most liberals I know actively search out American made over imports because it is logical to support American jobs).

Lifelong Ohioan here. You're 100% correct in this video. It amazes me that the people in my state routinely vote against their own interests. I would've moved to a blue state years ago if my family wasn't in Ohio.
Watching the blue cities in Ohio stay relatively fine and stable as the surrounding red hat areas continue to close businesses and get increasingly run down.
@@CommanderHaircut I've been through Toledo, and it sucks. The only city in Ohio worth living in, in my opinion, is Columbus. That city is actually livable and the most populus for a reason.
It's so sad that productive blue states like my home state of Maryland is going to be negatively affected by the purging of civil servants - this is going to rock our economy
Maryland, productive? Wtf does Maryland produce? You aren't even in the top 10 production states. Get a clue dude. Blue states are bums that leech of the actual states that produce things.
Blue states should stop sending funds...let red states fend for themselves. Maybe they would appreciate what blue states do for them. Respect always wins over bullies.
Except you're then punishing every child born in a red state and every individual in that red state who didn't vote red. And a lot of voters who voted red because they were misled, too, and aren't well-educated enough to understand how they've been misled. I dislike this sort of rhetoric. It doesn't do anything but push an "us vs. them" mentality. How about instead of saying "Well let's just throw the people to the wolves," we work on making sure the people know which legislation will actually help and harm them, and why? One thing that was abundantly clear in this past election was that thanks to the prevalence of Fox News and other conservative media (and mainstream media in general), people were sorely misinformed or just plain old uninformed about things like Harris's policies or Trump's plan to dismantle the ACA (because they didn't comprehend that ACA = ObamaCare). Not to mention that many people flat out don't understand what a tariff is and what it will do to prices! Granted, trying to spread this info through social media is kind of a lost cause because of social media echo chambers, but we have to figure it out somehow and educate people. And that is, of course, assuming it will even still matter whether or not people are educated in another four years.
I’ll never move from Massachusetts. Too many reasons to list but I feel protected here. Our MassHealth and benefits show empathy towards the poor and disabled and it’s not perfect but I feel like it’s moving in the right direction rather than away.

This same thing is part of the reason The Confederacy lost the Civil War. The South simple did not have the economic infrastructure to support a war stance.
And that statement is completely wrong I grew up where the civil war started in Charleston South Carolina I know the history of the civil war and what you're claiming is completely false because Charleston at one time was the richest city in the nation even though most of the nation did not exist yet and remember if it wasn't for some of those same Confederate states you'd be under British control because it was us that held back the revolutionaries
Which was why the CSA hoped to win a quick victory over the initially unprepared Union, and, when that failed, tried hard to talk Britain and France into aiding it.

We understood the assignment shame that some folks didn't vote and others defected on Nov 5 after trump said he could fix groceries and gas. smh They gone have buyers remorse though. It was a matter of education and lack of researching the candidates.
That's because educated people know how to pass an open book test in which all the answers are given. Those that voted MAGA, couldn't pass a test if the answers were directly given.
I thought lower taxes, no snow, and less government would be great when I moved to South Carolina from NY. I can assure you if you are educated, progressive, and intelligent - South Carolina is not going to make you happy. I would rather have my taxes doubled and have to shovel snow again than stay here much longer. Thinking about moving back to NY instead to retire there..
That point about you'd rather have your taxes doubled is so fucking strong. I've talked with people about universal healthcare and how, yes their taxes would go up but their spending on healthcare would go down, all they hear is "more taxes" and they start screeching and screaming about "gubberment bad!" It infuriates me how brainwashed people are that they'll literally fight against their own best interest.
I have relatives who moved from a Blue State to Mississippi and they constantly talk about how poor healthcare is as well as how Mississippi has declined funding/money from the Obama Presidency because they didn't want money basically from Democrat/Black President. My family was horrified by the ignorance and ridiculousness of their representatives who instead of helping their constituents they would rather for them to suffer and stay in poverty to prove a point. Which leads to ask, what is the point??? I guess cutting your nose off to spite your face .These same people (constituents) keep voting the same people in office that have consistently proved that they don't have anyone's best interest at heart. Yet they keep blaming Democrats for their plight. It's a vicious cycle, needless to say my family will be making the move back to their former Blue State. Retirement there wasn't what they were hoping it would be 😊
Honestly that's every university and high school ever. And while I understand that people love sports, I've never understood how heavily sports are prioritized within institutions that are intended for scholarly education. That's not to say I'd ever say to remove them, but the argument that sports bring in revenue to universities is kind of moot when that revenue is only put back into sports rather than into things like school supplies, dorm improvements, and teacher/professor salaries. It's hardly one politician who's corrupt, it's the entire American obsession with sports and entertainment. In the grand scheme of things, athletes are impressive, but teachers and doctors are way more important to society.

For some people living in poverty, watching other people be in worse situations than them is honestly the only thing that makes them feel better. That’s why they continue to prioritize “owning the libs”. These people have no interest in putting in the work needed to improve themselves and their communities.
You are correct. I think instead of encouraging blue states to cut red states off--even knowing many people in red states did not vote for what's coming or even what they've suffered thus far--we should push people to stand together. Especially after the United Healthcare stuff, it should be apparent that the real enemy isn't each other, and we do still have things in common. Besides that, the way red states are, cutting them off is going to hurt a lot of people--including kids--regardless of how guilty or innocent you might view them. We need a massive propaganda push to show people what blue legislation and blue legislators will do to benefit them, and precisely how more right-wing laws and legislators harm ordinary people in favor of the wealthy. And maybe we need to somehow get it through to people that, no, no matter how much they like to imagine they will someday be among the wealthy elite, the chances are good that they will never, ever reach that dream--especially as long as right-leaning individuals are in power, although to be fair, life might be better with Democrats running things, but Democrats are unlikely to do much to enable people to rise from the dust either.
True Story. Sarasota Florida here. DeSantis locked my community out of a press conference following a natural disaster after a historical flood in 8/24. Then we got hit by 2 hurricanes in 2 weeks One was a direct impact. We don't like him very much here xx I'm speaking on behalf of the peasants 💯.

Here's my question why did DeSantis win re-election? I know because a lot of you weren't thrilled with Charlie Crist, which is ridiculous. But that's what I heard. And why did Rick Scott win re-election? I know Cubans tend to vote Republican but not everyone in Florida is a redneck or Cuban so, I still don't get why it's so Republican there now?

Even more than red states and blues states, it's red rural areas and blue cities. Look at a red state like Texas. All the cities are blue and all the economic activity is in the cities. New York is a blue state, but the rural parts are red.
If you are in childbearing years, do not move to Texas. The state government does not have term limits. Their droughts are awful, and their power grid cannot handle the load. Lived there 30 yrs. SO glad to be gone.
Red states collect the most welfare, have the highest rates of poverty, infant mortality, and teen pregnancy. They rank the lowest in education, quality of life, and access to healthcare. They also have shorter lifespans than blue states on average, and higher rates of gun death. And the top 5 meth states are all red.

There were so many differences I’d noticed when I’d started traveling from Southeastern TN to MN this year. And as someone who’s lived in a Southern red state my entire life and becoming permanently disabled at 14 years old, it’s not worth it. Just look at the history of how we got to this point because so much of it systematic and coordinated. When immigrants first started moving in they were paid in currency by whoever owned the town when they worked the mines etc because whoever owned the town owned all the stores and all the land around it. You could only spend it within that town to buy what you needed when they had it so it’s not like anyone had the “legal” money to move which has kept families in many areas for generations then throw in a lack of general resources for mostly rural areas, most places being family owned offering no opportunities for expansion and things like the Opioid epidemic which has allowed addiction to become more accessible and rampant knowing that people couldn’t afford to fight them in court etc it’s a very vulnerable population that’s been conditioned to not see ANY option beyond what we’ve been given for decades upon decades. I swear so many people would have their eyes opened to world beyond them if travel was more encouraged and families weren’t so scared of diversifying and giving their kids a future outside of their homes. It’s a combination of ignorance, scarcity mindset and basically being led to believe this is “all we need”.
I have a friend who lives in New Mexico, the most crime riddled blue state. He has had his car broken two more times just driving through Oklahoma than it has ever been broken into in New Mexico.

I'm in a traditionally blue 'spot' in NW IN. I despise the RED MAGA majority. Todd Rokita is imo - the worst AG in any state. Eric Holcomb a failed puppet governor.
My state is red too.We could benefit greatly from a blue shift, but consistently year after year, election after election, it remains deep red. And if you criticize Trump around here, woe betide you. But I do not think that cutting red states off from blue state funding is the answer. Red state governments will not bother to put funds toward education and infrastructure the way they should. They already struggle economically and often lack the population, infrastructure, and general economic opportunities that are present in states that trend more blue or purple. If this were to happen, the idea would be to punish the government, but it'd be the ordinary people who'd suffer and have even worse education and economic conditions. And no, they wouldn't magically see the light and start voting blue; they'd see it as an attack or a slight and would vote even more red. I think the way to combat this is information. We need more blue-team legislation (unlikely given the state of things for at least the next two years, I know), and we need it geared toward helping average people. Then we need to use as much propaganda as we can to ensure that everybody knows that's Democrat legislation and how it's helping everyone out. And we need propaganda to tell people exactly what Republican legislation is doing to hurt the average person, and why it's a bad idea. There will still be people who will vote red solely because of team loyalty, the way they'd continue to cheer for a favorite sports team. And some will insist on it based on moral grounds, mostly due to being anti-abortion regardless of any nuance or situational details. But if we can put more effort into showing the Democrats are actively trying to help the average Joe, and we can get that out there on more news sources so people are likely to actually see it outside of, say, Fox News and other mainstream media that are likely to gloss over it or outright trash helpful legislation, then tides may start to shift.

Blue dot in blood red Indiana. Been here 72 years. The population here now is morbidly obese, uneducated and under served in all public services. The very small safety net that exists here is about to be shredded. I cannot imagine what the increase in suffering to an already stressed population is going to look like.
I'm a blue state person who move to a red state... the bad news red state infrastructure sucks... the good news i have a blue state retirement plan.... i see a lot of older red state people at Walmart looking at prices of food over and over again. and the tell you the truth it pains me.
Flat out, David, I was born and raised in southern California, but, I cannot afford to live there anymore. Rents, real estate, too high! Even in the desert communities! Stuck now in AZ but at least on my one income I can be somewhat comfortable!
I completely understand. I was born and raised in Southern California. I lived in LA county but just moved with my job to South Carolina. I only have my income and couldn't afford to buy anything. I moved in October just before the election. I am not thrilled that I am in a red state, but I will be able to buy a home. I hope to one day return to Southern California as I don't feel I truly fit in here. But for now, it serves a larger goal.
I have no idea what happened to my state... We were a blue state for quite sometime untiiiiiiiiilllllllllll, Trump came to power, the 1st time. And these fool brought him back... yep... as the kids say, "We're cooked."
I was born in Ct 65 years ago with a congenital heart defect. I had 3 surgeries there. When I was in my 40's I moved to another New England state. It never dawned on me that I wouldn't have the same great health care, and I'm not disappointed. I found cardiologists who specialize in adults with CHD. Great hospitals and Boston Children's hospital is close. My cardiologist works with the pediactric cardiologists there. I'm in a FB group for adults with CHD and the horror stories I read are heartbreaking. They can't find cardiologists who specialize. Good hospitals are hours away. They have spotty insurance at best. They have been misdiagnosed. It seems most of these people are from the south or middle of the country. It's sad and shameful. Truthfully my health is the main reason I'd never leave New England. I wouldn't even spend vacation time in a red state. (I give them enough of my money) but I would be too afraid of what could happen in a medical emergency.
Well said, I live in California, and I get most, if not all, my medical care from the VA. I am very lucky, I have great doctors, and despite the fact that I may never be able to buy a house because it's so expensive, I don't care! I have great healthcare, and great hospitals are just minutes away! And, my health is more important to me.
Sorry for your condition but so glad you're getting good care! Yes, I live in AL & if it hadn't been for my Mom, my smart (at the time) career choice, then once sick, my marriage, I'd be homeless &/or not alive. Not living like royalty - far from it - but I lucked out. Idk how others are making ends meet. My poor bff is very sick & has to work a _horrid_ job just to keep her health insurance. 😞I mean, she works 45+ hrs/wk & they make her work on call every other weekend. Modern day slavery - hope maga & the oligarchs are ___. Idk, gone soon.

Sure. If you come to Michigan, and don’t have a degree, after a year of residency you can get two years free community college. Something or Liberal governor did that brought in huge amounts of investment.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've been saying exactly this for years and years and years. If conservative policies are so great, why are the bottom 20 or so poorest states all deeply red, conservative states? Why are they the poorest state governments that require federal government assistance to even function? Suckling off the teats of blue states that in business terms run a profit? Why are these red states also the ones that have the highest percentage of their citizens on federal government assistance? Why do they have the worst education systems and standards? Why do they have the highest teen pregnancy and STI rates? I thought conservative policies were great for their overall economy and for the kids? Oh yeah...and I thought they were great for freedom of speech. I guess that's why Texas, along with other conservative states, has banned about 1,000 books in public school libraries...including the Diary of Ann Frank and Maus. Conservative policies are ignorant, selfish, and objectively awful for the overwhelming majority of the population. Meh...but low information MAGA and so-called centrists can't be bothered with cold, hard facts...nor with logic and decency. It's sad and pathetic.
