I've had the privilege of talking to officer Floyd! A kind and patient police officer. Loves his horse, loves his job and loves Fort Worth. I am proud to call him a fellow Texan. Keep up the great work Officer Floyd
You know, it was less than one hundred years ago when postcards were produced to commemorate the lynching of black people. There was a time in American society when communities, like Fort Worth, would gather for the communal murdering of black people. But now people get upset if you suggest that anything about our country is or ever was racist.
@@randbarrett8706 Undoubtedly, this example could be seen as the "token"... Even if this is true, yet time is proving other wise, without those tokens what would have as minorities have to follow as this gives hope. Believe, I empathize with your sentiments, as often feel token growing up in Texas suburbs and retiring from the Air force. It's a spiritual and intellectual pursuit to let strangers from all races see you as an individual beyond your race/skin color. This takes patience, time, and humility; all things allot of minorities don't have the time for! However, for real healing to occur, history must tell the truth and continue to repent of its institutionalized sins...
Great story. There is a need for police and public to interact. It's great for public relations for the city. Plus we have the herd. All this makes Fort Worth stand out as a city.
I was walking in Fort Worth years ago and got to see a mounted officer pull a car over after about a 1 block chase. That was impressive. I have great respect for those officers.
I remember delivering Wonder Bread on Houston street during the dull Saturdays when business had dried up you could see tumbleweeds blow by Eckards & Goldstiens.
I thought about volunteering for our county sheriff mounted unit but they didn't want officers using western saddles or looking like cowboys. I wasn't going to use an English saddle which would be easier to be pulled out of so I said no.

God bless Texas.
I smile every time I see a mounted officer downtown. :)
Texas simply....ROCKS!
I love Ft. Worth & mounted patrol
Nothing more more American than a black police officer on horse patrol in Texas! God bless Texas.

Big dude on a big horse, I thought it was Ronnie Coleman there for a second, LOL !!!
No that would have been down the road in Arlington, Texas. Ronnie Coleman was a police officer there.
Thanks for what you do Officer Floyd.
He's a private investigator now. He served his city well. I hope PI work is less stress for him.
Appreciate the video, God Bless Texas
Quite a few departments around the country have a mounted patrol.......Of course not as many as a hundred plus years ago.
True
Can't wait to visit Dallas. It would be a dream to train the four-legged officers.
Well take a drive west to Fort Worth! Lots to see here too!
St Louis and Chicago also have horse police.
Historic southside resident here, love my cowtown
Great video thanks!

Props. You have a dream job.

Love!
The 90s/early 2000s sure was a different time.

@@nmelkhunter1 I wouldn't be too hard on the little guy. Some people can't handle the stress of day to day life.

Horse COP. Ohhhhh, okay. Did a double take there for a sec. Whew.
What a cool job!!
This footage has got to be at least 15 to 20 years old
yea you can tell by the vehicles in the background. Definitely looks late 90s early 2000s
He’s been doing this for a hundred years. He’s allowed a few do overs.
2005, it's in the description.
And that old sony video player
By the way that was not a complaint I watched every bit of it I watch all of his stuff
❤️🐎
Wow... this is cool but it is a really old video. Sundance Square no longer resembles the version on this video
This aged poorly. Let's stereotype and box people in. Smh. 'Driving his sportscar, listening to hip hop, looking like mtv....' ugh
