Inside the FWPD: PAT Video

Fort Worth Police Department Fitness Assessment - Applicants are required to complete a Physical Assessment Test (PAT) which basically is a obstacle course. The test consists of a sprint and barrier surmount, stair climb, physical restraint task (power training machine), pursuit run, victim rescue, and concludes with a trigger pull evaluation. The applicant will be wearing approximately 14 to 17 pounds of gear during the test to represent standard-issued gear a police officer would be wearing. The assessment is a timed event, with the maximum allowable time for the PAT being 2 minutes and 34 seconds. The PAT is conducted on a pass/fail basis.

The fence isn’t that bad, but I kept losing my grip on the weight machine. Still passed, but this whole thing will kick your ass

In any field situation, where officer has to move someone, they will not have a cable attached to their body.
In the local police academy's dummy drag is performed by putting hands under the dummy's "arms" lifting then dragging dummy 30 ft.

Don't bother with FWPD if you've ever tried drugs. I was honest about my usage from 19 years ago and they nixed me even though I had great time on my physical fitness test and came in second out of several hundred on written test. System also appears bias against anyone over a certain age.
