      Checks Notes:
Nylander signed his first contract for less money despite having 1.5 times the points as Suzuki and Caufield and 2 times the points as Slafkovsky.
Marner had more points in one season than any of the Montreal players had career points.
Matthews had more career goals than any of the Montreal players had career points.
      Takes notes:
Have young players under perform so you can sign then to long term deals.
Hope long term deals don't turn out like Jonathan Drouin and Josh Anderson.

From 2027-2028 to 2029-2030, Montreal has three players signed: Suzuki at $7,875,000, Caufield at $7,850,000, and Slafkovsky at $7,600,000 for a total of $23,325,000. Everything else is cap space. If Kent Hughes manages things right, this team could be incredible.

Pretty much how his season went was, first 25-30 ish games he was with Newhook and Anderson who had a line shooting percentage of like 3% or something ridiculous like that. Like I think Anderson had 5 breakaways from Slaf in a 3 game span and missed all of them. It was BAD. There were constantly options for open space created that weren’t capitalized on because Newhook and Anderson couldn’t recognize the patterns (Newhook is not a centre definitively)
Then he gets put with Caufield and Suzuki, putting him with players who are able to be read by Slaf made such a difference because they were able to take advantage of the space he created, were able to pass to inside space and not cramp up the side of the ice on the breakout, and board battles he won way more effectively.
Elite Prospects did and amazing video on it

When he was a UFA he wanted to get paid because he had a really good season. The Leafs didn't pay him and he signed a big contract elsewhere. Good player but was not a first line player that could not live up to the contract. Now personally i dont care if the habs overpay for a player or have players not sign more than Suzuki. Depends the player … it’s a first rounder and he has good progression (it’s also not crazy of a contract)

Armia/Dvorak contracts ending this season will free up cap space, enough cap space for an other contract of that size without doing anything.
Sadly Montreal is still stuck with Anderson and Gallagher, they’ll become a real problem soon enough, possibly slowing the window to truly open.
Once the new Coyotes equivalent is determined (where contracts goes to die), the Canadiens are reserving a table for two.

Slavkosky is a 3rd liner playing on the first line choking the offense of Caulfield.
This was a very ugly signing from a group of executives who don't have a clue wtf they are doing.
    F the Habs.
    I'm out.
    Go Flyers.

This take is actually embarrassing if you watched any Hab games from last season. Leaving the Habs to vote for the flyers who are a certified dumpster fire. Enjoy hitching your wagon to that 😂
