    Pare should have been ejected from the game for kneeing and been fined.
    Too bad the refs mismanaged the game and Pare stayed in the game so that Xhekaj had to take it into his own hands.

    Say what you want, but I'm still a big believer in "the Code"...Cedric Pare is a career minor leaguer who will never play in the NHL and Patrik Laine is (or at least was) a superstar. And Pare knew Laine would beat him, so he stuck his knee out to get whatever piece of him he could. That's reckless and dangerous regardless of who it's against. But again, that was Patrik Laine's knee he just blew up. This is a guy who's struggles with his game and his mental and physical health have been well documented. No one should be touching him in the PRESEASON! He and Pare are no where near the same caliber of player. A guy like that should not be allowed to get away with a stupid play like that. Total props to Xhekaj for sticking up for his teammate. This wasn't Bertuzzi-Moore, Pare was uninjured afterwards...Pare deserves a suspension, not Xhekaj

    The second Pare decided to take a cheep shot on Liane and knock him out for the season was the second he volunteer to destroyed by Montreal's tough guy. Pare made the decision and paid the price. Even though he turtled like a wimp, he earned his consequences. In fact he got off lightly. The rest of the punks in the NHL took notice. In addition, the refs who were too busy sitting on their thumbs, soon realized that not enforcing the rules has a price. Sadly the only one who was injured was Patrik Liane, who will likely miss the season.

    One of the morale is that NHL needs to rethink pre season games. All those ECHL/AHL caliber players who want to make a name for themselves are taking reckless decisions on the ice. I'm tired of seeing elite / all-stars player getting injured in pre season games by players whose chances to regularly play in the NHL are as slim as a flat earther finding a cure for cancer.

      I'm not sure I have a solution for that btw, but sending AHL clubs vs NHL clubs is not a good look. And MTL did the same thing to the Leafs a game prior. Either have it so there is at least a balance on both teams, and/or have a special penalty length, more punitive suspension' system, and/or have special team fines during preseason.

    As a habs fan, i thank you three for your reasoning. If the argument is that pare shouldve been fined and xhekaj suspended, i can agree to that argument. Either you punish both, or, as adam says, you recognize that's just part of "the game" that the league management wants. The only thing i'm angry about is the lack of action by the league against knee on knee contacts. Both the lucas raymond and patrik laine ones. Detroit got lucky and raymond is fine, but to me its like, you put it in the rulebook. Technically almost all penalties are unintentional. Most players don't mean to swing their stick in someone else's face. It still gets penalized. Most players don't mean to trip the opponent they're chasing. It still gets penalized. Why is it different when it comes to knee hits? Especially since those are 10x more dangerous than a stick between the skates

  • @docadious6948
    @docadious6948 11 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    A fist to the face will do a lot more damage to the face of the recipient, and it will also raise the likelihood of the punching hurting his hand or wrist in the process as many things can go wrong and especially if that person is not traunin how to punch while protecting your wrist from flailing or fracturing your knuckles.
    He kept his gloves on in this instance to protect his hand from the back of Paré's helmet, and he was in a psychopathic self-state due to the knee on knee that Paré did on Laine. Xhekaj doesn't care and went to avenged Laine in his own psychodynamic landscape.
    Steve just revealed he's never been in a hockey fight, or he has soft wrists and knuckles.

  • @pathindsley
    @pathindsley 16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    This was a case of the league saying, “the refs messed up.” If Pare got a major penalty or harsher, I don’t think Xhekaj goes after him. If you know not calling a penalty on an injury is going to invite a fight and you’re not going to hold Pare responsible when he commits the infraction, you have given tacit approval to Montreal to return the favor. Unwritten rules compensate for missing rules. It’s not perfect, but MLB took it very seriously and throws pitchers out for hit batsmen, if necessary. This felt necessary for an ejection and they didn’t do it

    What would the NHL’s stance be if it was “inadvertent” contact to the head and Laine was knocked out? Players are supposed to be held responsible for what they do on the ice, intentional or not. Most penalties called in games are unintentional. Pare made contact with Laine’s knee, it’s a penalty. No i don’t think he did it on purpose, but he still needs to be held accountable for his actions on the ice. Everyone, including Parre knew what was coming and he should have grabbed hold and take his lumps.

Can you please be honest for a second? Watch the replay. If Tavares wouldn't be such a 😺, and he would actually take a hit instead of do everything you can not to be touched, he wouldn't have got clipped in the legs. Look at it!!! Take the hit!!! But he doesn't. And that's why Pez hit his legs. There was nothing dirty about the hit. And by the way. I think the rational ones in Habs land know Paré didn't mean to injure Laine. He did how ever got caught flat footed and he did take the knee out. It was a donkey move! I didnt like it! He should've known better. Its devastating to lose Laine before the season even starts.
