UNBELIEVABLE FIND, I just picked up this 1996 Honda Civic Ek Hatchback! It has a TON of great parts and we are getting ready to take this car to the final form with a paint job. Lets take this thing for a rip before we pull it apart!

I vote for painting it and calling it done. Not that a turbo is bad, but there is something about keeping it super simple and clean.
I'm not much of a Honda person, but I would daily that car exactly as it is! Props to the guy who built it and his standards for building his cars!
Daily? Idk about making it a daily Hondas are becoming very very hard to find this clean.
Please keep this car, don’t give it away please, it could be an awesome summer daily with a turbo and just an all around awesome car to own

I love this EK. I am currently building one that someone completely stripped down. Your Ek definitely has given me motivation to finish mine even more
This is a BEAUTIFUL example of a properly clean mod Civic. Do NOT give this one away. Its way to good and clean to be just given away to someone. You talk about having nice daily or a track car and this car fills BOTH of those roles. You don't even need to turbo it... When you start going with Turbo's and stuff that starts killing reliability and setting up for things to start failing. I think its good N/A as is. This can be a clean car you can just simply enjoy and make simple content with. Adam has the CRX for the Compound, and this... this could be YOUR "Compound" Civic for track days or fun street rips. This is the standard of build that should be striven for~

This is the same exact engine swap I've got in my 99 Si. It came with Lsd transmission. Love the hatch man!

I would personally keep this car as is just paint the front end oem type r front and rear lip lower it a lil to the perfect fitment and bam the perfect weekend toy.
I've got the stock D16 in my 2000 and it's perfectly fine to have fun it. I was shocked how good the handling is with just new coilovers. Having a boosted K24 package being put together right now.

Go full N\A with this one. I had a 2000 gs-r with a built b20 bottom end (11.5:1 comp. - ITR Trans). I wasn't a missile, but oh so fun.
Beautiful hatch with a lot of personality. Color match her and leave her that way she is.
don't make this car undrivable with a giant turbo, make it quick spool and enough to have fun
Turbo would definitely be cool but there’s just something raw and visceral about an all motor Honda that makes the driving experience. That’s even when they’re considered “slow” compared to crazier setups.
The axle nut stake on the rf axle nut has either moved or after re using the nut it wasn't re-staked after torquing or ugga dugga'ing
I love this idea. I've been dying to see a g series on a b series. Will be such a fast well balanced car. It's got the chassis setup already and that car with a nice wide powerband will make for the best street canyon car ever. Keeping ac and ps is just the cherry on top
I wouldn’t turbo it. Keep it N.A. and have a fun track car. Do some time attack/auto cross events. I loved when Chris (RicerMiata) did time attack in the white roadster.
On the GSR swap VTEC engages at 4400 and the secondary butterflies engage at 5500. The butterflies are mostly what you are hearing. THE MORE YOU KNOW.. 😂
This is one of those cars you put in a shipping container for the next 15 years. It's gonna be a true gem in the future.
Ive got a 97 civic type r replica, right hand drive with a k24 swap. So fun!!!!!
If you're going turbo, I would awd swap it too. Imagine 400hp out of that b18t going through all 4 wheels through those canyons.
I would just paint match the front to the rear and leave it NA but improve it. So new intake, cold air, cams, springs, retainers… etc. Everyone does turbo already.
Or maybe supercharge it to do something different? The whine is so good!
Worth more if the paint is original. The scuffs n dings give it personality

I had a ek coupe with b18c1 (gsr) b16a2 trans (si) and a lsd. It was sick car it ripped way harder with the b18b1 (crv motor)

Best swap IMO i had a jdm gsr 90 EF hatch stock with header and exhaust and i would be door to door with a k20a2 swapped EM2

This is honestly the perfect build I would love to have this it has my favorite motor its a hatch back with perfect original interior iv been looking for a hatch like this its hard out here in Delaware
Been there done that. With the stock piston rod with that compression you will be limited to 10psi or you will start snapping ring lands.
Leave it oem plus and track it mayb. Clean car and great purchase
This car is too clean.Since you have 2 turbo civics id say keep this as it is.Maybe do some engine mods and run an ecu.
Do a all motor 300 wheel horsepower build
The “progressive” vtec you feel is the butterflies opening on the intake manifold of the gsr intake
Just bought a 94 hatch doing a b20 bottom with b18 built head eventually I'm gonna turbo it when I get time to

I love the car as well but a b18c1 isn’t a type r unfortunately. But still a great motor.

I am OK with a turbo set up, but I wouldn't put a big turbo and crazy power, just a small turbo and like 5lbs max just to get the turbo noises and a little extra power, with a flex fuel set up

Take off the butterfly setup on manifold .. that will give it one stage of vtec and it will pull harder

B18C1 is the GSR engine, not Type-R (B18C5).
Would love to see you hit the track with it. Do a couple of n/a laps, then do a few turbo laps.

Do a actual Type-R swap EK9 build. The black top b18c is way different to the type r b18c or b16b. The progressive vtec you mentioned is the secondary intake runner opening up. I'm from New Zealand and we didn't have a GSR we have Vtir Sir and Type R
It must be on Hondata he has the Vtec crossover smoothed out like a K series...

B18C GSR motor from Japan should rev all the way to 8200 and VTEC crossover should kick in at 5500.

Like the car, but a B18C1 (GSR) is not a Type R swap. There are many differences, the head is a P72 vs a PR3, different cams, pistons rods crank are all different. Looking forward to the build though.
Thought the same thing, gsr isnt type R and I know jack squat about civics

@@MotionAutoTv Sounds like a JDM GSR, both the JDM GSR and Type R have the engine code B18C, but the easiest way to tell the difference is the head. That is a GSR intake so I'm guessing its a GSR.
which if you are planning on putting a turbo on it and leaving the engine stock it is the better option IMO since it has a little lower compression.

If it was a 96 dx it have a no RPM gauge cluster or am I thinking about CX I bought a 300 civic 4 for 96 I did full acura el swap and a 99/00 em1 oem front end except for the grill and fog lights but I did run off fog lights with a OEM to the Aftermarket Wiring cars automatic but no rust and a great work car
