I saw the same show, same year, when they came to Normandy in France....Absolutely delighthed !!! Robbie was a hero of mine since the Pretenders "Learning to Crawl".....It was good to see that he really is up to the bar !!! Thanks, Robbie.
@@RideAcrossTheRiver Whats that got to do with anything? Are you saying without John Mark would never have made it? Mark would've found some other bass player, they're a dime a dozen. What percent of songs did John write? How many bass solos do you remember from Dire Straits?
@@hankreardon6998 "without John Mark would never have made it? " Not as a solo guy, no. Knopfler's solo 'career' has not been much of remark. He'd probably have been a session player or a Roy Buchanan. "some other bass player, they're a dime a dozen." Like drummers, the good ones are 1 in 50. Very rare. "What percent of songs did John write" The music? He contributed on 100 percent. "How many bass solos do you remember from Dire Straits?" Not like that. The fact that Illsley showed up on time,. sober, and played superbly with great intelligence. Extremely rare.

Thanks Robbie for your knopflerian style. I love Jonh Illsley and Robbie
I've met and chatted with Robbie. He's down to earth and unassuming, just as you would expect.

Is any body knows what sort of open tuning Robbie using usualy while playing with slide?
So John illsley does dire straits cover shows?
He is Dire Straits
I thought Mark was Dire Straits. No disrespect, but if not for Mark Knopfler we wouldn't know who John is....
@@hankreardon6998 It was John who put the band together.
