Well! well! well! I was a Chet fan from just about the time you were born Robbie although maybe I didn't know it for a couple more years when I was loaned two of Chet's LP's "The Other Chet Atkins" and "Teensville." It put paid to any pretensions I may ever have had about playing the gee-tar. Not that it stopped me - it just put me in my place and gave me a different perspective about my musical ability. Around about that time I left school to pursue a career in electronics and I was taken by the multi-layered recordings that Chet, Les Paul & others had access to. That remained an interest to this very day although my days at doing very much of anything are now drawing to a close. Yesterday was Mother's day and my wife and I went to visit our daughter for the day. She had purchased, in a charity shop, a basket of CDs and had put three aside for me. One had the name "Chet" on it - another "Hank Williams" and a third "The Carter Family." To my amazement I had your CD recording in my hand Robbie and mighty impressive it is too. Not even that old is it? Just from 2018? Am I correct? I have never heard anyone play so much like Chet does - with the precise tone too and the quality of the audio engineering is also astounding. Does it hurt for me to say that I had not heard of you until yesterday! Indeed - I am just catching up a little bit and here I am. My interest and playing has now spanned nearly 70 years. I have hardly ever laid down a recording with which I was pleased. Occasionally with the help of others - it seems to click a bit but I cannot get what pleases me. Nevertheless its been a most useful hobby and I have many musical friends. Thanks for the Chet album. I shall be looking out for you from now on. Sincerely, Berry G. {P.S. If you look at my Avatar you will see tiny scrap of a valve schematic from the early 1960's. That was my two channel mixer and tremelo unit! Just saying like!}.
A top bloke is Robbie- always measured, comes across as kindly, walks softly but carries a massive musical stick. I've met him a handful of times. Get the "Thankyou Chet" album. Do it!
I am honored to be born 3 days after Robbie. And I am a musician too. I don’t know what it was about this group of travelers from this time period, but the results are proof there is music in them.
I really like robbie, I actually knows him only after he played with John Mayer(one of my favorite) and after hearing his band mates and stuff I got nothing but love and respect for him.. He truly is an inspirational... Eric Clapton and robbie McIntyre are some of the top guitarist who shine and gave a ray of hope to musicians who can't get to/can't afford to study music academically or in a college...
Playing with Tom Jones' band he must have heard of Big Jim Sullivan who was the guitarist in TJ's bad in the early 60's. An obscur but important part of music history.

Cleveland Public Music Hall The Pretenders!! You let my sister and myself on the guest list. One of the best memories ! God bless you Robbie !!
He's definitely that kinda guy, while playing quite a mean guitar!!😉

Cool little interview and exemplifies why RM is so highly respected. Top bloke.
Yes Allan, a great guy, has played with so many diverse musicians, in so many venues around the globe, yet he is as humble as he is a great guitarist.
I've met Robbie and he's just as modest in real live.......... and an amazing guitarist.
Had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Robbie a couple of times. Lovely guy.
Hadn't seen him in decades-if he had walked past me outside, I don't think I would be able to recognize him!
He may have changed wven more, that interview was a few years ago now. You'd still recognise his guitaring though;-)!!
@@joediomede1961 Definitely-he's great player. :-)
I'd like to hear that trio with Jody Linscott and Steve Smith.

I would guess he must know of him. I remember growing up with the Tom Jones show on television. Was he playing on the telly with TJ, then?
