Hi David how do you reset the service light ? Can you reset it on the dashboard or do you need a diagnostic tool some great info on battery care and well explained 👍
Hi Brendan thanks. As far as I'm aware there are some videos where people claim a convoluted procedure can reset the Service light, others say only on post 2014 models. 1) Turn on ignition (foot off brake) 2) Open Hood 3) Open Driver door 4) hold brake & gas for 20-30 seconds 5) Let off brake gas 6) Turn off ignition. Here's a link to a video. th-cam.com/video/on9B8AxGwfk/w-d-xo.html I'd be interested if you try it that it works. I have reset mine with a diagnostic tool. If you plan on any DIY I would recommend one I have an icarsoft LR4. If I sell my car I can re sell it. Cheers David
Hi David, I'm curious where the warning came from not to charge the battery whilst connected. Many of us have charged many a battery without disconnecting it, including my L320. I also leave it on trickle charge when I'm away for months at a time. Never had any problems and I can't see what potential damage it could do.
Hi, I was interested to see what the Owners Handbook said about charging the battery and quote "The battery must be disconnected and removed from the vehicle before charging. Failure to do so could result in damage to the vehicle’s electrical system." The reason I checked was I'm remember reading or hearing about it somewhere. As it happens I have to remove the battery to charge it in my garage anyway. It took about 24hrs to charge. I have charged batteries attached to the car but have always removed the +/- wires. To be honest I can't see what damage it can do but I'll do a bit more digging see if I can find out. Cheers David
have the same vehicle and year
