I don't comment on any guides videos, but I felt the need to commend a gamer on his way of teaching. As someone who is just starting out the game, this video helps me feel like I have a lot of options, rather than being restricted to the meta like everyone else says. It covers all the different aspects of builds, explains why you can or would want to do one, but doesn't shove it down your throat saying one is better than the others. This video is an excellent guide to beginning players, no matter what type of player they are. I really like the way you present the info, thanks for being awesome!
Just jumped into the game over the weekend and it’s been a blast so far. Got to level 5 last night and that was exciting. my first perk card pack popped up and i was immediately locked in confusion lol. This video was really helpful. I’ll continue to explore and play around the world and gradually learn and experiment with the perk cards.
In the beginning get perks that benefit all builds pharma farmer is good becasue you will find more stimpaks. Have fun and do what fits your playstyle you can always change it up late game. High Intelligence also nets you more exp if your are in a rush to get to 50.
I'm level 150 and have been avoiding builds so far, but it's time. And this was a very useful starting point, thank you! It gives me a much better idea of where to dig in for builds I'm interested in. Thanks!

Bro, I like your videos. Your well spoken and not overly excited. I just leveled to 30 and am kind, figuring out my character build and its rifleman, so thank you for a solid foundation and general direction to get me started.
I think a Build really helps out. My perks were every where. Not doing hardly any damage. 30-50 points maybe. I redid the perks, concentrating on Rifle. Start hitting for 200+. Before it just seem like the monsters were bullet sponges. Just think if you want to deal damage enough to level up, you will need at least the important perks for what ever weapon you want to use all the time. like don't select Rifle perks, if you just using pistols. Don't pick Commando perks, if you using shotguns. Think the main ones you really need, anything extra will depend on how you play or what you like to carry. If that makes sense.
This video helps a lot. I’ve spent a ton of time researching weapons with base damage and using them based on that. Not even realizing that you can basically use any weapon you want as long as you have the right perks.

I’m pretty new to the game, level 60 on my very first character, chose my special intuitively as I got to know what kind of fighting I like to do. Realized I hate fighting too many movs at once so I do stealth with a bow and a suppressed shotgun for small interiors and close up combat. I’m definitely still learning the pros and cons of the way I constructed my character and might have to make some adjustments over time. Thanks for the info on character builds, I certainly needed it :)

This is honestly so well made dude. I came here with my build already figured out cuz I was just curious to see what others were doing, but I'll tell ya this is the first video where I really understood what cards you can/should use without falling behind on your build and all that. It makes so much more sense now!
This definitely helped. I'm always worried about what special perk is guna give me access to what I want. I'm trying to have the most effective all-around builds so I can create anything, hack/lockpick anything etc

I also made a non-combat "camp" build for crafting and building with the associated perk cards for creating extra ammo, chance to get extra items from crafting, etc. I also maxed out Charisma on it and added the Hard Bargain perk card so I can switch to it at a vendor when I'm selling items for caps.
It's true, my favorite thing about this thing is seeing how I or someone else builds their character around literally whatever they want. I myself have a small part of my character build tailored to my camp location. Set up in white springs with the nuka cola perk and the cheaper prices perk so I can grab nuka cola for my health before I head out. 😎
I'm going to try this out tomorrow while it's free to try. Thanks for the tips! I've never been a huge fan of melee, but honestly, for the vibes, I'm thinking let's give that a shot. New game, new play style, new adventure.
At start use whatever you find, then when you get the chinese stealth suit go commando or get a power armor and go heavy. After lvl 300-400 you can be whatever you want, you will have gear, perks etc... for every build.
Great video, great conclusion. I skipped 76 (because of all the bugs and reviews) but just got it. I played ALL fallouts, at present day it seems to be a good point to start 76. I have been really enjoying it so far!

I’m lvl 325 got my heavy build finished at lvl 80 I was kinda dumb with the perks have so much perk points want a melee and shotgun build 3 builds on one characters can’t wait for load outs

Good point about not needing a build or god roll legendary to have fun. There is a lot of content that pushes players to min/max everything, but unless you are trying to set queen kill records it’s really not necessary.
As someone who's always avoided making builds and is intimidated by how to make them I've been told I NEED to make a build by my friends but this makes me feel much more comfortable with making them or doing whatever. Thank you so much brother.
I don’t really try to go for hyper efficient builds but rather broad themes. For my raider character I want high strength, power armour, heavy weapon primary, shotgun secondary and slow high damage melee. For my settler character I want a sniper/assassin design. Sniper primary, pistol secondary and quick knife melee. It’s better than being the disaster Jack of all trades I was back at launch lol.

One thing would have been nice to know even without going into too much depth is what do those subcategories mean like what is bloodied/instigating/etc (speaking as a newbie)
@@Anomalyy666 Highest DPS is tricky. The weapon matters almost as much as the build at that point as that is a very specific build. But I think it is a bloodied stealth commando with faster fire rate weapons OR a heavy build with a god tier legacy weapon!

I think one of the hardest thing for new players will be to wrap their heads around the fact that (depending on the build they choose and which backpack you get ahold of), you actually get LESS carry weight in Power Armor! I mean, how is that even a thing?? That you can carry MORE with your body and a backpack, than with a MACHINE?! So depending on if you’re a hoarder, carry a lot of chems or food, and the weapons, it would be a good idea to decide if you want to be a Power Armor user early, so you’re not fighting your carry and stash limit later on.
It is very hard for new players to get good carry space, Generally I've found newer players wont be able to get the good backpacks quickly due to how tedious the Pioneer Scout quests are. Also getting good armor that can help takes awhile For new players looking for carry space I always recommend getting the excavator power armor early on and spending some caps for a few mods. It has good armor protection and great early game carry space!! PS: It also blows my mind how a bloodied build can carry 2x as much as a power armor user haha
@@T0nik that’s my point about PA carry weight! I’m a bloodied build (surprise, I know. lol) and it gets on my nerves that if I need to jump in my PA, I become over-encumbered! If they want to make the carry weight relatively “equal”, I’d be ok with that, but when I’m over weight when I jump into my Excavator PA with the Calibrated Shocks, I call B.S.!! lol

I've been working on my build since about level 25 and I'm nearing level 50 soon and I really appreciate your break down of builds without getting overly detailed with info and giving someone like me a nice starting point. Now if only people talked about mixed weapon builds because I enjoy the rifles and shotguns too much to only focus on one lol
Currently level 45 but this helps out a oot as i had to learn from trial and error especially when im trying to do a single shot pistol build. I was excited when my .44 revolver went from 67 damage to 86 when i was level 20
I had a solid melee build that would one shot zombies when I used to play and just started the game up and I do next to no damage now. My melee weapon also breaks after like 5 minutes of fighting. Not sure what they nerfed.
Right on! I always respect people who don't force them selves into one certain build. Its not always about damage, its all about having fun using what weapons you like!

I really appreciate you laying out which perks up damage. I am currently in the marksman build mostly because I can't mod my weapons to be automatic. I have to see if enemies drop automatic weapons. All other guide videos I've watched say get an automatic weapon that is explosive which would help me with my super mutant problem.
I ran a marksman build for awhile when I was under lvl 100 for the same reason! I didn’t have the mod plans plus the ammo cost was way too high for being a lower level. Just takes some time to get the automatic weapons but you will get them :)
Surly one of the big misconceptions is people think you need a traditional build to play the game and not doing so makes you a bad player. I play 76 like all Fallout games, with a free flow "build" that makes if fun for me.
I honestly didn’t start creating my rifleman build until I was in my 90’s I completed the main story and had issues beating some levels but wasn’t all that bad. As soon as I got my build everything got so much easier lmao
Very helpful video, thanks! I started like 2 weeks ago. For me ammo was really the biggest problem. I stuck with melee and shotguns until I reached about level 30 (no ammo problems at all and works just fine), and at level 30 or so I switched to a heavy gatling gun. Super ammo efficient also, and by that time you can get your hands on enough ammo for it. Ultimately I'm going heavy gunner :)
I’m too indecisive and can’t commit to just one weapon so I always sacrifice max potential for versatility. I’m running a heavy weapon / melee build with PA. I use a .50 cal and a chainsaw. This has always worked for me well enough. I plan on making an NCR Ranger inspired build with handguns and rifles, though I’d also like to work some kind of full auto in as well, but I know I’ll be stressing it to fit it in.
I just hit level 30 and I’ve been speccing into strength for shotgun and melee (bullets for people, melee for creatures). It’s really powerful, especially since I’m mainly fighting raiders and ghouls. I ran low on ammo and I ran into this level 200 female with a mic and I was checking out her house, she asked if I needed anything and I said shotgun ammo, 10mm. She dropped me 300 of each and then gave me Stimpacks and purified water, she also gave me this level 50 legendary shotgun that I can’t use yet but it’s cool to have. Super cool player!
Stealth heavy gunner is so much fun when you get the perks set up right. I mostly run commando or riflemen myself but i do switch to melee or some form of heavy gunner.

Once you become a certain level youll be able to make multiple builds so make sure to enjoy when experimenting

It definitely helped me. I tined to go for sniper build even when not playing a true build. So think you, I now know some perk cards to focus on.
This really helped me to cool myself and calmly appreciate the limitations, as redistributing the points is a headache.
Even after a year this is still very helpful, it helps clear up the different usefulness for certain cards and legendaries, so thanks!

Yes I jest started a about 6 mouths ago a heavy vampire gunner build on my third player. Its bloody great mate, stay safe mate.😊😊👍👍👍

I've been working on my build since about level 25 and I'm nearing level 50 soon and I really appreciate your break down of builds without getting overly detailed with info and giving someone like me a nice starting point. Now if only people talked about mixed weapon builds because I enjoy the rifles and shotguns too much to only focus on one lol

Currently level 45 but this helps out a oot as i had to learn from trial and error especially when im trying to do a single shot pistol build. I was excited when my .44 revolver went from 67 damage to 86 when i was level 20

Just unlocked the Mire, level 47 due to the recent double xp. This is definitely useful since I feel like I'm hitting as hard as I could be.

I had a solid melee build that would one shot zombies when I used to play and just started the game up and I do next to no damage now. My melee weapon also breaks after like 5 minutes of fighting. Not sure what they nerfed.
I have a hybrid build....a little of commamdo, shotgun and heavy weapon... Just to experience and have fun with different weapon.
Right on! I always respect people who don't force them selves into one certain build. Its not always about damage, its all about having fun using what weapons you like!

I really appreciate you laying out which perks up damage. I am currently in the marksman build mostly because I can't mod my weapons to be automatic. I have to see if enemies drop automatic weapons. All other guide videos I've watched say get an automatic weapon that is explosive which would help me with my super mutant problem.
I ran a marksman build for awhile when I was under lvl 100 for the same reason! I didn’t have the mod plans plus the ammo cost was way too high for being a lower level. Just takes some time to get the automatic weapons but you will get them :)
Surly one of the big misconceptions is people think you need a traditional build to play the game and not doing so makes you a bad player. I play 76 like all Fallout games, with a free flow "build" that makes if fun for me.
I might decide to use a melee build. I just need to level up some more!!

I honestly didn’t start creating my rifleman build until I was in my 90’s I completed the main story and had issues beating some levels but wasn’t all that bad. As soon as I got my build everything got so much easier lmao

@@Anomalyy666 that would honesty fall on the individual I personally like rifleman better, I use two shot lever action and a explosive handmade.
@@Anomalyy666 since dps is what you want for endgame, commando is better, but anything is viable, so use what you want.

Started playing super late, and I suck at building characters (even tho I've been playing since 3/NV) but this points me in the right direction.
Very helpful video, thanks! I started like 2 weeks ago. For me ammo was really the biggest problem. I stuck with melee and shotguns until I reached about level 30 (no ammo problems at all and works just fine), and at level 30 or so I switched to a heavy gatling gun. Super ammo efficient also, and by that time you can get your hands on enough ammo for it. Ultimately I'm going heavy gunner :)
I’m too indecisive and can’t commit to just one weapon so I always sacrifice max potential for versatility. I’m running a heavy weapon / melee build with PA. I use a .50 cal and a chainsaw. This has always worked for me well enough. I plan on making an NCR Ranger inspired build with handguns and rifles, though I’d also like to work some kind of full auto in as well, but I know I’ll be stressing it to fit it in.

I just hit level 30 and I’ve been speccing into strength for shotgun and melee (bullets for people, melee for creatures). It’s really powerful, especially since I’m mainly fighting raiders and ghouls. I ran low on ammo and I ran into this level 200 female with a mic and I was checking out her house, she asked if I needed anything and I said shotgun ammo, 10mm. She dropped me 300 of each and then gave me Stimpacks and purified water, she also gave me this level 50 legendary shotgun that I can’t use yet but it’s cool to have. Super cool player!

Stealth heavy gunner is so much fun when you get the perks set up right. I mostly run commando or riflemen myself but i do switch to melee or some form of heavy gunner.
