Not just the phenomenally expressive playing by Elinor, but a very fine recorded sound as well :)

The pacing and expression is bar none! Better than anyone else’s interpretation I’ve heard. This is exactly how I play it, I give the trills their due pace.. Many people rush the trills and the easy parts and add too much ornamentation.. Yes baroque music requires ornamentation that’s not always written, but not careless extra trills and grace notes that change the elegance and feel of this piece.
Just my opinion, but this was super well done and sounded perfect and pure! Loved it.

What got me to listen to this magnificent piece was mention of it by Greg Iles in his new novel: Mississippi Blood.

The idea to consider the cello a violin (2014 interview) is very good. In the mid 20s the jazz trombone was a rather slow instrument. Jimmy Harrison (Fletcher Henderson Orch.) then began to capture the style of cornet and trumpet players and that way started what we consider a modern jazz trombone today.
In the Pallade Musica repertoire the cello is actually equal. The theorba has bass enough and that's better than just sticking the cello on the left hand of the harpsichord player.
But picking up violin repertoire for cello is a good idea anyway. They can't understand it at the big music store Dussmann here in Berlin. The lady's like, "But this MusicPartner CD is for oboe--you don't play oboe." It doesn't matter, it's even better than playing what everybody plays. LOL

I have bought VERSO VENETIA and want more CDs. But it got to be Pallade Musica, so guys you have to make another CD. Why not Roman composers this time?
