Metal uses a lot of themes from classical music, more than any other modern genre. It’s no wonder much of the best and most popular metal comes from Europe, where they have a strong connection to their musical heritage.
That's because this is where metal came from brother. Especially the great rock ballads. I'm an old rocker myself but I feel the same way you do. Much love an peace from the bayou my brother.

Greetings from Denmark This is so beautiful it cannot be discribed. Go to an opera, or the theater in real life, and you will be a changed person... I actually guarantee that. .... I'm just a regular person.... and I'm for Trump ! While not an opera or even an operette, I went to see "Les Miserablés" in Odense, Denmark, back in like 1991 at the "Old Theater"... Odense's "Gamle teater".... and ... it was an almost life chaging event for me. I _love_ opera.... it seems to touch something deep inside of me. Classical music does, in general... from Vivaldi, Edward Grieg, Tschaikovsky, Brahms, Strauss.. ("Also Sprach Zararatustra", OMG), and Carl Orff. Not much of a Bethoven or Mozart fan, so that makes me a peasant ;-) Oh, in that sense... I forgot Maurice Ravel, with Bolero ;-)

I don't know much about opera but I came here to listen to the Flower Duet which I heard in the excellent Van Gogh exhibit that came to my city. The Flower Duet brings tears to my eyes it is SO beautiful. Thank you. :)
i don't mean to downplay, but this was not a good flower duet. Try Sabine Devieilhe & Marianne Crebassa or old school perfection with Joan Sutherland & Huguette Tourangeau. You will notice a difference
@@jefferymcgregor6371 So I tried Sabine Devieilhe & Marianne Crebassa and I saw two indeed great singers, each singing their part of a duet that never became a duet. Joan Sutherland & Huguette Tourangeau do sing a duet and they have great voices..for me to powerful for a Delibes song. I prever Sutherland singing with Pavarotti the Verdi - Messa da Requiem. For Delibes flowerduet are Simone Kermes and Vivica Genaux a very good choice, they way they perform -important for a life registration- goes very well with the music and most important: they are singing together while Sabine Devieilhe & Marianne Crebassa are only accidently at the same place. So I did notice the difference and I don't mean to downplay your remarks but try to understand what it means to sing a duet and moreover to sing Delibes who was composing light comic operettes. Sabine Devieilhe & Marianne Crebassa are singing something very serious while Simone Kermes and Vivica Genaux are singing Delibes.
I learned a lot about operas from my grandmother in Germany, we went to the state opera, I love Ballet and my most favorite opera and Maestro G Verdi ❤️
Tina Williams, Hi from California, Tina! Your words resonated with me, as I used to be taken to the Vienna "Volksoper" many times by my mum. I'll be forever grateful to her. She also introduced me to ballet, and I became one totally dedicated "balletomane". By then we lived in New York City, and I'd be zipping from one theatre to another, living along every step. I even got to attend ABT (American Ballet Theatre) ballet school. (For the fun, I was an adult by then). As a child, I used to sing along with operettas and also love waltzes, and music has accompanied by like a beloved friend all these years. I am transported into highest spiritual spheres by it and was fortunate to introduce friends (and my pets), to all these great gifts we've been given. When I sang to my kitty, "Maghira", he would purr loudly and drool! Greetings to you and many good wishes, dear fellow music lover!
When I was I little kid, I always thought "Lascia Ch'io Pianga" is a song about pasta because it always starts from "lots of lasagna"......what a misunderstood.
Flower-DUET, and Traviata Brindisi is NOT aria. Aria sing only one solo voice (in the refrain could be choir). When two singers sings together, that is DUET. :) The MOST popular opera ARIAS: Largo al factotum - Il barbiere di Siviglia Di provenza il mar - La Traviata Votre toast - Torreador song - Carmen La fleur que tu m'avais jetée - Carmen Celeste Aida from Aida Un bel di vedremo - Madama Butterfly Che gelida manina - La bohéme Una furtiva lagrima - L"elisir d'amore La donna é mobile and Nessun dorma is OK. :) Could be also Habanera from Carmen, Caro nome from Rigoletto, Le veau d'or or the Jewel song from Faust, Summertime from Porgy and Bess... The most popular DUETS are actually the Flower duet and Libiamo ne lieti calici! :)
Gee, what a magnificent montage of the well-known opera arias! An ideal project to use for the basic opera introduction to youngsters. The English subtitles convey a stronger meaning of the beauty of what opera is to the listener. KUDOS to the editors, video cameraman, the selected opera singers and the orchestra!
Whenever I see a “Ten Best” list of anything I know the author will be in for a rough ride by many. There is really no “Ten Best” of anything, far too subjective to capture so many varied tastes. To those critiquing these choices I think you are missing the big picture. Just close your eyes and enjoy the beauty of these performances. Like anything else individual performances are open to interpretation and the nuances of the performer. That is the beauty of music, so much variety to enjoy.
I agree. That's what I'm going to do, rather than carp about "why isn't the trio from Cosi Fan Tutti included?" or "how about the chorus of the Hebrew slaves from Nabucco?" and a host of others I could name. Maybe they'll be on another list later.
It applies to other art forms as well. I know far more about ballet than opera and I keep on reading comments that Russian dancers are by far superior to those from other countries. Such an all encompassing blasé statement is as ridiculous as saying the Germans write the best music, the Italians are the best singers, the French are the best painters and the English the best writers.
I agree, although there's no harm in trying to create such lists ("with a grain of salt") if the exercise is understood as simply a starting off point for thinking about, discussing, enjoying, and honouring great art and great achievements - Now, the envelope please, as we announce the "Ten Best-ever Trees" ... btw, my opera moments list would include "Song to the Moon" from Dvorak's Rusalka , and I seem to recall Bizet wrote a fairly popular opera, what was its name ...
This isn't a 10 Best list. That would be impossible. Everybody knows what the ten most "Popular" arias are and arias don't include duets, trios or ensembles.
Tante vero... E bene detto in questa bellissima lingua ch'è l'italiano. Sono francese e mi chiedo come sarrebbe il mondo senza l'Italia e tutto quello che ha dato all'umanità.
Lately come to opera. I cannot fathom the genius of the composers or the voices of the singers, which are on a level indescribable. Pure clear, powerful notes, how can a human make that sound?
Yes. Since I first heard it, although more and more. Beauty is real. It is not just a construct of the individual perception. There is a true beauty and opera is a clear attempt to manifest it in the world, as those undying artworks of old. Everyone acts as if they know what beauty is, but few seek it and fewer still know it.
OMG that "Lascia ch'io pianga" was more than sublime, and then everything else. Truly it is a blessing to be born in 1984... That means being able to easily enjoy all these performances, whit unprecedented audio quality all the way from the recording up to the release. Thanks for this awesome share!!!! Also, thanks for those 4:3 performances shown - no matter how long the performances were recorded, the quality and "soul" of the performances can withstand differences in cultural "present-day" sensibilities. Yet they are a testament to the original compositions and writing :how many decades and centuries after they were composed we can still connect and relate? Countless is my impression!
Absolutely hands down the best rendition of Lascia ch'io pianga that I have ever heard, and I have heard so many, both live and not. This one though....it absolutely blew me away!

Its so rare to find a version of Il Dolce Suomo played using the either the Glass Armonica or the Glass Harp as intended. Its normally played by the flute.
It is, but I don't think this is a very good version of it - the voices don't match, the soprano treats the mezzo as though she is just support rather than as an equal.Try looking for Sabine Deveilhe and Marianne Crevassa's version on TH-cam - that is the finest rendition I've ever heard.

"O mio babbino caro" without the extra-long upper notes... ¡At last! Thanks, Valentina Nafornita. In the arias of Queen of Night (Mozart-s Magic Flute) nobody beats the late Lucia Popp
For me Valentina's performance was the most moving of all the selections. She prowls gracefully, her voice and music exude the ache. I felt like I was intruding into an intimate meeting when the two women were singing the flower duet. Unsettlingly beautiful.
YAY! So pleased to see a translate button and be able to read the Russian replies. It is a great selection and my favourite was the second one, the dark hair girl who was pretty and owned the words as she sang them.

Wonderful Queen of the Night. Menacing, deranged, yet a beautiful interpretation.
And Pavarotti with his glorious voice, singing to that psychopath princess.

I'm a 22 year old, I sing opera. The first thing I learned to do when I began was to learn how to control my voice. All of the performers had magnificent control!!!!!:) I loved this video so much:)
I hope you feel well, when you are rejected(I Hope you are not). To be honest I never applied. I played Chopin better than anyone. I was a mediocre bass. This is a bass song. Mozart swapped it for some soprano he "Liked"...

Greetings from Denmark
This is so beautiful it cannot be discribed.
Not much of a Bethoven or Mozart fan, so that makes me a peasant ;-)
Oh, in that sense... I forgot Maurice Ravel, with Bolero ;-)
I work at the copehagen opera.
Ahhh, Flicka! The loveliest Cherubino the world has ever known. An utterly distinctive rendition.
Queen of the Night Aria from Diana Damrau will forever be ICONIC for me. Kudos to all performance here

A wonderful selection! These songs cling to the living. Thank you for the vivid emotions that I experienced listening to these pearls of music!
I don't know much about opera but I came here to listen to the Flower Duet which I heard in the excellent Van Gogh exhibit that came to my city. The Flower Duet brings tears to my eyes it is SO beautiful. Thank you. :)
Nicely said. The Flower Duet takes you to a beautiful place you have never been and never want to leave.
i don't mean to downplay, but this was not a good flower duet.

Your words resonated with me, as I used to be
taken to the Vienna "Volksoper" many times by my mum. I'll be forever grateful to her.
She also introduced me to ballet, and I became one totally dedicated "balletomane". By
then we lived in New York City, and I'd be zipping from one theatre to another, living along every step.
😂
Flower-DUET, and Traviata Brindisi is NOT aria. Aria sing only one solo voice (in the refrain could be choir). When two singers sings together, that is DUET. :)
The MOST popular opera ARIAS:
Largo al factotum - Il barbiere di Siviglia
Di provenza il mar - La Traviata
Votre toast - Torreador song - Carmen
La fleur que tu m'avais jetée - Carmen
Celeste Aida from Aida
Un bel di vedremo - Madama Butterfly
Che gelida manina - La bohéme
Una furtiva lagrima - L"elisir d'amore
La donna é mobile and
Nessun dorma is OK. :)
Could be also Habanera from Carmen, Caro nome from Rigoletto, Le veau d'or or the Jewel song from Faust, Summertime from Porgy and Bess...
The most popular DUETS are actually the Flower duet and Libiamo ne lieti calici! :)
OMG - This beautiful being is melting my heart into opera!!!
esta colección es una joya por la belleza de voces en las distintas obras operísticas, fascinante experiencia musical para el oído. Bravo 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I missed when movies had opera songs playing as cool stuff was happening like a car chase or cool gun fights
Introduction to 58 year olds also.

Good night 🥱💤
Absolutely, more to look forward to!
Beautiful. My soul rises with each note. The artists are the world's best.
Potessi andare a teatro. Che NOSTALGIA! Grazie per lo streaming. La musica classica mi risolleva lo SPIRITO e mi fa sentire VERAMENTE BENE.

I have Anna Netrebko's La Traviata and her voice gives me goosebumps.
She is too fat 😅😅
Lately come to opera. I cannot fathom the genius of the composers or the voices of the singers, which are on a level indescribable. Pure clear, powerful notes, how can a human make that sound?
Fabulosa elección para escuchar a quienes amamos la ópera. Gracias.
Anyone else in their 20s listening to opera music?
Ópera, rock, and Heavy Metal 🤘
Not in my 20`s, but I did back then, so I`ll say yes, lol
Why not?

The Flower Duet is one of the most beautiful arias of all time!
It is, but I don't think this is a very good version of it - the voices don't match, the soprano treats the mezzo as though she is just support rather than as an equal.Try looking for Sabine Deveilhe and Marianne Crevassa's version on TH-cam - that is the finest rendition I've ever heard.
