I think this was my first Pac-Man game. I may have played the original on 2600 when I was really young but can't remember, but I had this on NES and I remember playing it a lot. Super nostalgic.
I didn't even know Pac Mania was on Nes or like 10 other systems. All these years I've been playing the arcade version on the Namco Museum for Gamecube and never knew this. 23:56 those final few levels really keep you on your toes with the difficulty

Very underrated game: top 25 NES game of all time(it's so SNES like and a very fresh take on the legendary franchise). Even with your jumping, it gets harder(much harder), as well. I can't remember if the original Pac-man games combine powerballs, but this game does. Which means, this game allows your points to keep going up if you hit the next powerball while they are still blue and eat them! Plus, you have both a speedball* and a redball power up(maximum points per chump until you get out). *As you get faster(higher level), the speed up ball can make Pac-man very hard to control since there's no joystick...Eat your heart out Sonic, because it has the speed that Nintendo isn't supposed to have(eventually, they get blazing fast).
I was a kid when the original Pac-Man hit arcades, I had it for my Atari 2600, felt cheated that it wasn't the quality of the arcade game. As for Pac-Mania, it came out when I was a teenager, it struck me as weird, but cool at the time of it's release, and I saw it one of our malls arcades (we had 2 malls, each one had an Aladdin's Castle in them, a Namco owned arcade). I played it, found it even better playing it, than watching someone else playing it.

Just so you know, I would fight anyone who dares compare a Pac-Man game negatively, especially if it’s Pac-Mania (especially the versions with 3D graphics making them ahead of their time like I, Robot), Pac-Man World 1 & 2 for home consoles, Ms. Pac-Man: Maze Madness, Pac-Man Party, Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-in Time (non-GB versions), Pac-Man Arrangement, Pac-Pix, Pac ‘n Roll, etc!

Finally got this on SMS.
SMS was not nearly a good port of this. You'd expect to see the NES port to be on the SNES instead. It's that good, but it was on the NES instead.
