  • This song "The Sun Is Burning" was written by Ian Campbell who was a Scottish folk singer. It was first released by Lorna Campbell - banjo accomp. John Dunkerley in 1963.
There has been many wonderful covers of this song my favourite is by Luke Kelly.
Thanks to Arto Marttinen for the image.
    Lyrics :
The sun is burning in the sky
Strands of cloud go slowly drifting by
In the park the dreamy bees
Are droning in the flowers among the trees
And the sun burns in the sky
    [Verse 2]
Now the sun is in the west
Little kids lay down to take their rest
And the couples in the park
Are holding hands and waiting for the dark
And the sun is in the west
    [Verse 3]
Now the sun is sinking low
Children playing know it's time to go
    High above a spot appears
A little blossom blooms and then draws near
And the sun is sinking low
    [Verse 4]
Now the Sun has come to Earth
Shrouded in a mushroom cloud of death
Death comes in a blinding flash
Of hellish hеat and leaves a smear of ash
And thе Sun has come to Earth
    Now the sun has disappeared
All that's left is darkness, pain and fear
    Twisted sightless wrecks of men
Go crawling on their knees and cry in pain
    And the sun has disappeared.

    Hello Hanorah,
I discovered this song, it started well... and then the ending is not the most pleasant... Let's hope that never happens. Nice cover, well done and have a good weekend in a pleasant and mild sun. 🌞🌹

Thank you so much for listening. Yes the lyrics of this song really have a twist at the end. My weekend also started well with the sun finally coming out of hiding....then today the rain fell.I actually love rainy days and especially summer rain. Take care.
