Making Believe ( Cover written by Jimmy work )
This song was a number 2 hit on Billboards country chart for Kitty Wells in 1955 .It has been covered by many artists including Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash , Dolly parton, Emmylou Harris, Connie Francis to name a few !
I feel it's so simple but very deep.
Painting by John Everette Millias
Lyrics:
Making believe that you still love me
It's leaving me alone and so blue
But I'll always dream still I'll never own you
Making believe it's all I can do
Can't hold you close when you're not with me
You're somebody's love you'll never be mine
Making believe I'll spend my lifetime
Loving you making believe
Making believe that I never lost you
But my happy hours I find are so few
My plans for the future will never come true
Making believe what else can I do
Can't hold you close when you're not with me
You're somebody's love you'll never be mine
Making believe I'll spend my lifetime
Loving you making believe.
I feel it's so simple but very deep.

A very haunting and mystical song written for Karen Casey. I love the simplicity of this song yet the melody has a yearning, a longing and the meaning is deep. Thank you to Spike who is playing the mandolin. The folk song that begins with the lyrics "There is a ship that sails the sea" is also known as "The Water is Wide." " and as "O Waly, Waly," it is a traditional Scottish folk song that has been covered by many artists over the years. The song's ly...

Excellent as usual. I believe Kate Wolf wrote this song about Wavy Gravy (Hugh Romney) who is 88 and still alive. He was an entertainer and peace activist best known for his role at Woodstock.
A lovely version of this song .sung with great feeling. I love it
Magnificent. Beautiful, plaintive melody. And it is congruent with your stated philosophy and life goals.
Thank you much appreciated.
Your voice is so chrystal clear. Love your singing dear friend!
Thanks for listening.
This is sooooo heart wrenchingly beautiful ❤️
Thank you x
Very nice! I checked out the Kitty Wells version and several of the multitude of covers by others. Your simple and clean version stands alongside very favorably. I also like the thought provoking painting. (What is she thinking while looking out?) Thanks for the introduction to Millias.
Thank you for listening, researching and commenting.I love the pre raphaelites and yes I wonder what she's thinking .
Excellent version. I recall the earlier version we did with dobro. This is more engaging.
Thank you .xxx
Wonderful performance, thank you for sharing your nice video!! Have a great weekend, dear my friend!

Fantasque chanson et bravo pour l'interprétation
"Time has passed and I am 12 years old. Now, the secret must unfold." , 2:26 could be the most daunting lines ever sung.
Thank you for listening, I hope my songs encourage people to reflect and maybe even take action to protect innocent children.
Hanorah, love the song and how you sang it. Really, really great, thank you Ian 🤓xx
Glad you uploaded it. Thought-provoking and subtle.
Thank you I was wondering how it might be received but I think it had to be said.
Human depravity is confronting, and so much more horrific when children are the target. Thankyou for writing about it Hanorah.
Thank you for listening. It's a topic that really breaks my heart, stealing the innocence of childhood with everlasting consequences.
A powerful tribute to the all the sexually abused children in the world. There is a woman in Australia called Sue Parrish who wrote a song called "MARLY - A TRUE STORY." Marly was also a sexually abused child who was able to get her life together. Sue and her husband Colin used to sing at the former Darnum Musical Village in Australia but Colin died several years ago and I don't know if Sue still sings. Their recording of "Marly - A True Story" is on their TH-cam channel ColinSue5850 . I would love to hear you sing it. th-cam.com/video/EeHMBO5jC7I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fTYxJ_enoZCQBrhw
Thank you I really appreciate you listened and commented. A topic we avoid singing out loud about but I would shout from the hill tops if more people would hear and react to save and protect innocent children..I will gladly listen to the song you recommend.
@@Fairy-door-78-86 There is a group in Australia called "FOR THE INNOCENTS" which was founded by a number of former Catholic priests who were disgusted by the criminal behaviour of some of their predatory colleagues & the cover ups by the church higherarchy. Perhaps there are similar groups around the world. The following is from the website: FOR THE INNOCENTS We who are ordinary people want to apologize to you, your families and friends for the gross sense of scandal, hurt, pain, suffering, confusion, loneliness, and unwarranted guilt you may have been forced to carry as a result of sexual or other abuse by clergy, religious teachers or workers. We are deeply scandalized and offended by what has been done to you and your families, be it by individuals or organizational structures. We recognize that in the process your beliefs and faith may have been shattered. Too often, legal and procedural actions take over and the pain, confusion and needs of the individual drift into the background and can be lost sight of. It is true that any apology we offer is in another category to that which might be offered by those who have committed the offences. But it is offered in the hope that it will be but one part of the healing you need and are entitled to. We desire that our apology be experienced as serious and heart felt.
Kate Wolf loaded this song with images, which we decorate with our personal experiences. Your poignant version keeps Kate's song alive and unfinished.
To all who have died in wars rest in your sleep sweet dreams to you all. Rest in perfect peace. Boys and girls fly high ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Betrayal, but voiced honestly without bitterness.
Thank you for listening and I think you said it perfectly.
Nice!👌🏾...Best wishes!❄️
I just listened to this again. It’s very beautiful. Makes me wistful, as it should. 🌷
Very beautiful! A difficult journey to follow along. From the water beneath his heart to being left alone high and dry…with nothing but a mouthful of air. I love the poetic imagery throughout. The cover photo, by the way, is an exquisite choice. There are two other versions of this song on TH-cam. I think yours is the best. Thanks, as always. 🌹
Thank you Ifor your lovely comment. I absolutely loved the lyrics too.
By chance I was reading the novel "Animal Dreams" while listening to this song. Both are about life in a small southern AZ mining town, and they complement each other.
Thank you for listening x
This song as far as is known was performed once at a theatre in San Francisco where it was recorded on cassette tape from the soundboard The song “Log Cabin Home In The Sky” performed on Garrison Keillor’s show is not the same song
“Father Sky” was written after a night we were together before Kate was leaving on a tour on the East Coast
Very nice cover and what a great voice you have ❤😊
A beautiful song with this text that tells the cycle of life well ! The music is well found to highlight the text. It's a beautiful collaboration. Bravo Hanorah and bravo Douglas. 👍👍

So very beautiful song!👍👍👍
Heartfelt by both the author and Hanorah, and indeed reminiscent of Kate Wolf. I'm a Rocky Mountain guy myself, and it feels sincere and right. But where has this fine song been hiding all these years?
Beautiful! I love it. ❤️ It’s emblematic of the kind of songs Kate Wolf wrote. From the first few lines in I pictured her singing it. Thanks to your friend in Montana for the request and thanks for posting.
