Jefferson Park Terminal - NORTRAN and CTA Buses - Summer 1988

I don't remember why I was at Jefferson Park in the summer of 1988, but Ed King was also there and is walking between buses. He also does not remember why we were there. Christina is the young passenger being interviewed, but she was NORTRAN's transit planner.
NORTRAN buses look pretty shabby as RTA was having one of its periodic financial crises. Two interviews with passengers were also included. There were some others on the tape, but the tape deteriorated and could not use them.

Chicago's D901's have a much deeper sounding transmission than the ones we used to have here in San Francisco.

The Chicago ones had the standard Allison V731 transmission and the SF Muni Flyer’s had a unique Allison HT740. I think Muni back in those days would custom spec their powertrains for the hills of San Francisco.

i moved to chicago in 1988 and my grandma used to catch the bus here at this terminal. i remember the memory real well. i still live here. love these videos.

Gosh, I recall seeing that "Bay's English Muffin" back-end advertisement, as seen at 2:23, on just about every NORTRAN bus and on its predecessor buses, United Motor Coach. Thanks for sharing!

I noticed a Youth Festival sign on one of the buses. It said June 1986. This tape may have been shot two years earlier.

I see the Flyer 902 (Same as San Francisco). Loved those. But what got me was the GM new look with the vent style drivers window. I guess that was because Chicago was acting a fool back then.
