@@AndrewRosales-y1h do drivers typically only do one or two routes or all of the routes that have the same garage or something? Or only certain models? Do any routes have multiple garages?
@@QuarioQuario54321 The 367 is South Garage we do all routes mostly 352 Halstead but we have schedules that can go from 366 to 367 then to finish it off do a 358 I’m on the extra board so I do whatever route they tell me to and I usually work 11 hour days
I'm also a Pace bus operator in northern Lake County and i basically learn something new from this channel. I would drive route 570 then i would changed into route 574, 572 or 565 when i get to CLC. Thank you BurjTransit.
I feel dishonored that you didnt mention 385. That route is like a zig zag running via Cicero, 87th St, Roberts Rd (80th Ave), 95th St, 88th Ave, 111th St, Pulaski, 127th St, Western, and so on until ending at Crestwood Mall, which lays near 135th St and Cicero.
The 385 is somewhat weird, but routes that loop back on themselves like that actually isn't that uncommon with pace, so I didn't think it was weird enough to be in the top 10.
One very weird discontinued route that wasn’t mentioned was the 327. It would run from the Forest Park Blue line to 7400 Industrial Blvd. It went on one trip weekdays only. It was very short and probably discontinued for low ridership.
Looks like the 809 was basically intended to be an extension of the MD North Line as an apparent interim solution hoping Metra would extend the line up there
You should do a top closed pace routes video. I found an old RTA map (before Metra's fare restructure and before Jan 1 2023) by accident and I saws some of the squiggly-est routes. E.g. Routes 462 - Downer's Grove; 685, 673 - Naperville; 825 - Bolingbrook
10:54 when I was there for MFF (Midwest fur fest) I was just trying to get to the main convention center, and it went to all the hotels first before finally going to the convention center.
I knew the shuttle bugs would make it in there somehow! Too bad I only started riding after the pandemic. It's insane how many routes pace cut during lockdown. I think that 472 is a pretty weird route, of you haven't looked into it. I really enjoyed this video!
At 12:24 please don’t ask to get let off somewhere cause if you get hurt that’s on us we probably would say as a courtesy I’ll let you off here so it won’t fall on the operator
Yeah I remember those shuttle bug routes back in the 90s. I definitely remember the 223 from when I used to work out in 2 weeks avenue and Wolf road that's t o u h y and wolf at the United airlines reservations center. I don't even go out in that neighborhood anymore haven't for decades. I do remember the 570 the Fox lake bus route. And I do remember some of those other ones. The Elgin ones I don't remember at all cuz I really don't go to elgin. But that 223 I have a lot of memories about that 2:23. Let me tell you I hated working Saturdays because if you missed that 8:00 in the morning bus you had to call for a cab or or call your supervisor and lie to your supervisor about some excuse why you can't go to work. But I definitely remember that 2:23. Oh yeah!
Another odd one is route 422. It's not too crazy most of the time, going west from the Linden CTA station in Wilmette to Old Orchard in Skokie before turning north to service Glenview and Northbrook and terminating at Northbrook Court. Some terminate at Old Orchard and become route 208 instead of doing the Northern branch, and instead of going to Old Orchard/Northbrook some go north onto the Edens before swinging back south/west to service some high schools. Buses on the way to Old Orchard/Northbrook can also make that loop on Request. None of that's all too crazy, and it's all there for sensible reasons. The really weird part is the inexplicable shuttle from Howard Station to a UPS facility the route can run at 2:08 AM. That, in combo with the aforementioned different routings and a few other specifics I didn't mention mean there are 8 different lettered trips.
I’m a bus operator for Pace and even I learned from this video that there’s 7 variations to a certain route great info

This video is so well done! I love footage you provide of the buses-great attention to detail.
