    I like your version better than the Dakota Digital one. However, if installing one of these your wiring harness is completely hacked! As these cars are getting older and harnesses are getting harder to find, why not make an adapter from factory cluster connector to bare wire if the factory cluster connectors aren't being used?

  • @inerceptor

    How about getting a vendor to create a plug and play harness.

      Exactly my thoughts! Plus the check engine light on after all said and done. Looks nice, but a lot of tedious work to see a check engine light on.

      Yea they definitely need to up there game. People do not have the time or the ability to do this job. Make it easy for guys trying to work on these cars them selves. The harness is a hack job now. If you wanted to go make to factory you can't. I mean you can but it would be tedious as hell. There's plenty of companies out there that make a plug and play setup.

    A small light bulb with jumper will need to be used on the airbag monitor (behind the AC controls) or the 90-93 airbag monitor system will sound a constant beep tone since there is no longer an airbag warning light in the cluster. Ask me how I know! ;-)

    If I currently have a Fox Body 90 to 93 VHX Dakota Digital gauge cluster can I swap this one in place of it without redoing the wiring? If I can just pull the connector out of the back of my current dakota digital gauges and easily swap in this version I'd be very tempted.

    How does the factory A9l ECU know what the coolant temperature is if you remove the factory wire and sending unit? Your fueling will be all wrong because the ECU has no input for those PID's?

    • @latemodelrestoration
      @latemodelrestoration  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Kevin, the factory computer gets the ECT (engine coolant temperature) from the sensor on the heater tube assembly. The ECT in the intake manifold is for the factory cluster. Since we're removing the factory cluster, that sensor can be removed and replaced with the sender provided in the 5.0 Resto cluster kit. Hi Anthony, this is the only design available at this time. Since we are upgrading a 80's-90's vehicle with modern technology, creating a plug-and-play system is quite difficult. This is the easiest solution to make sure all parts and components work with the gauge cluster.

There's plenty of companies out there making plug and dashes. Aim dash is one. Look at honda community for Instance. Everything they do is pretty mush plug and play. Yall should be able to make a jumper harness that's compatible with the factory dash harness. Not everyone wants to hack up their harness. Just food for thought guys.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean this looks like the old one but way more modernized this is far better than the original old cluster its also far more accurate and your speedo won't be bouncing out of the cluster at 15-25 mph like 99% of the fox clusters do. Fox guys are so cheap omg 899 that is sooo expensive let me just hack and rig up some old shit that is nowhere near as good so I don't have to spend money lol. Yall are so spoiled back when I had foxes 20+ years ago they didn't have all these cool options and here 20 years later they do yet everyone wants to whine about the price or act like the originals are "better" idk what fantasy world you live in but these blow the stock gauges away in every aspect and are far more accurate while still looking like stock at a glance to the untrained eye.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 ปีที่แล้ว

      How exactly does the old cluster look better? It's the same design but it's old and shitty. I swear people just love to talk shit. Never happy with anything. Even on a cluster that is literally disgned just like the original gauges for an original look but superior in every other way got guys like you hating on them saying original "looks better" they should have done a side by side to show just how wrong you are (especially at night when the stock gauges look awful and need all kinds of lighting mods to be half presentable).
