  • The ‪@BlackhawkTacticalUSA‬ T Series holster line is a good option if you are looking for a holster with active retention. No doubt this is a better design than the older Serpa line of holsters because it uses your thumb to disengage the locking mechanism vs your trigger finger. I specifically purchased the T2C model for my ‪@GlockIncSmyrna‬ G19 to use in Run and Gun style competitions. I wanted to cut weight from my kit wherever I can and the T2C is half the weight (and less bulky) than my ‪@TheSafarilandGroup‬ 6390RDS. The Safariland is a great duty holster, but again, I was all about cutting weight and bulk. Overall the T Series holsters seem to be well made and secure. Plenty of options out there if you're in the market for a new holster with active retention.

I ran 16+ miles in a run and gun last weekend with mine. It worked great. A lot smaller and lighter than the Safariland I used to use for these competitions.

@@sheepdogmarksmanship I run a G45 with a Trijicon RMR. It’s a fast holster. I can never go back to Safariland.

I’m running a G19 with RMR as well. I may pick up another one for my PDP.

I want to like this holster, it flexes the nose of my gun away from my body when drawing. Is there anyway to combat this without a leg strap? I cant figure it out

Too many variables for me to provide a fully informed recommendation without actually looking at your set up. That said, my initial thought is, it may be primarily a problem related to whatever belt you are using. My holster doesn’t flex at all, but I can see how, the muzzle of the gun could tilt away from your body if you’re using a belt that isn’t very rigid. I have mine set up on an outer belt that Velcro to a fairly stiff inner belt. My carry set up uses a different holster, but I also use a very rigid belt for EDC.
      I like the Nexbelt line.

@@sheepdogmarksmanship i think its my inner belt thats the issue. Its pretty worn in leather under a rigid rig

Will do, ive seen others mention this issue but its so fast that i want to make it work. Anything to mitigate the muzzle from moving would make it perfect for me

Having not held one in my hands yet, I'm not entirely convinced that this is the best method for utilizing the thumb release system. I'm sure it's fine for competition shooting, but to use it for what it is intended for... having an extra layer of retention to prevent someone else from taking your gun... the way this system works seems to me that it would be far too easy for someone to disengage that thumb lock without even intending to do so. Their thumb falls right where it needs to be, and their natural instinct would be to squeeze their fingers around the grip, meaning it's very likely their thumb will activate that release without even knowing it's there. I'd like to see some testing done with it, to see how effective it really is in that regard. At least with the push-down versions, you have to make a dilberate action to release the mechanism. That feels more secure to me than this method.
5.11 used to offer a thumb release holster made by Blade Tech that had the push down system. I have a pair of those and they work great, similar construction to this one. Unfortunately they don't appear to make those anymore. Fobus has a similar push down thumb release holster that they still make, but it's only available for Glocks.
I'm a fan of the level II thumb release holsters in general, I like seeing more offerings available. I'm just not sold on this design yet.
