    Well Brad, to get back to you I wasn't actually able to get UAD plugins to work on my old laptop. Ever since Windows upgraded to a new version, I've had issues. But my Plugin Alliance subscription works so I have access to their plugins. A bunch of other third party plugins still work, too. Alas, sometimes constraints are helpful. They led me to bounce to real tape rather than mess with tape emulation plugins and committing to results rather than endlessly tweeking. Moreover I tried a real Manley Vari-Mu and love it. (mix:analog for the former; Access Analog for the latter) This approach also lets me clip AD converters if desired. In hybrid fashion I use digital M/S EQ and limiting (Voxengo Elephant).

      I love the Vari-Mu! Definitely a piece of outboard I miss having regular access too.
      Sorry the UAD stuff didn’t work, but you made a great choice with Plugin Alliance. They’ve really saved me the last few months. I’m just glad you’re up and running making music!
      Appreciate the update and hearing from you! Thanks a ton.

      The Vari-Mu is great but it's one of those deals where later you prefer a different version. I've been trying to master a song myself and have experimented quite a bit in the process. So far the winner seems to be bouncing to tape with a Telefunken; transparent EQing thereafter-- in this case filtering a resonance; bouncing once more to tape but with a Studer; and finally finishing with a digital limiter. I've been trying out different ones. If I can get Sonible's to install tonight, it's up next. I've heard good things. @@BradDollar

    My mic keep sounding airy...i have uad...should i turn my beat down to hear the vocals better during recording...?what free plugins in uad are good for that?

    • @BradDollar
      @BradDollar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great to hear from you! I would take the Precision Channel Strip, and turn the shelf gain down until you hear some of that air go away. Then put the LA2A after it to make up some of that energy. All the air is coming from the top end, so you just need to pull some of that back. 10k-12k and above. Let me know how that works!

    • @robsauls5302
      @robsauls5302 ปีที่แล้ว

      @BradDollar is that channel strip free?or is it 300$lol

    • @BradDollar
      @BradDollar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That channel strip comes free with their plug-in bundles that come with any of their hardware. If you don't have an Apollo or didn't buy something else from them, then yea you probably don't have it haha. But honestly - any EQ will work. If it's too airy, we just need to take some high end off of it. You can always play with you beat level, but that won't change the sound of your vocal. If you want to send the track to me, I'm happy to take a listen! mgmt@braddollar.com

    the LA2A isn't working on the drums and mixbus at all, because the release is way to slow. The release isn't all the way down before the following hit happens, which makes the following hit weird/quiet sounding. I wouldn't recommend using it that way.

      Power section/amplifier is tube good sir. The optical cell just does the gain reduction. Thanks for watching!

    • @Merlinlenchanteur6
      @Merlinlenchanteur6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is true but that doesn’t mean it’s a tube compressor ;)
