- In today's video we are vaccinating our cows for leptospirosis, trying out a new set or cordless clippers and getting very frustrated with our cattle crush.
Also we made our decision on either Hydraulic Drive or Wide angle shaft pto for our Abbey 2000R tanker.

Cows are intelligent when they want to be, I dunno if you saw my reply about the bronze clutch but when we priced it, it was around 200 euro more expensive than the normal type

A simple crush Is always the best. Don't over complicate it. Simple post a rails works well. Round posts are much safer for your arms and the cows. I don't like rsjs as they have a flat sharp edge. You don't want panels with uprights in the middle, although they are stronger, the more uprights in a crush the harder it is to inject cattle. Alse don't make it wider than 31 inches. The cattle will all Bury their head on the inside of the one in front of a crush if it is too wide.
And also put in a step it makes a big difference
I've seen several square box crushes, pretty impressive and much easier to put a.i gates and the likes onto after. Gerry 6420 has a lovely one.
@@PC-oi5yf Yeah we always had a step. It's a great advantage if you're trying to restrain a wild one, though also a bloody nuisance if you ever drop something on the ground in the crush.

Great stuff. Bought a battery clipper two years ago and I do half a round of cows while the other side is walking out. One of the best time savers I ever bought. Can't wait to see the new crush in action. Lad next door to me has the cows out full time and they've completely ruined 2 fields and we've dry land in Limerick.
I trained as a fitter myself , only thing you've to look out for with a mig welder are the tips of the torch, keep em clean. You can get a tub of antispatter that you dip the hit torch in and don't do vertical down welds . No penetration so no strength in the weld.

Hi great video when you grease a double yoke shaft you need to take the big cone off and if you look in the middle of the uj you will see a little pinch that with some long nose pliers and that will grease the back ujs if not it just put its in the centre cup. Hope this helps.

Great video. Ur over greasing shaft. Little n often and Ul get way longer out of the cross in ur pto.
Probably a bit but it’s the first greasing, apart from the mess you can never really over grease, but yes a single pump regularly is the way to go for sure 👍
Yes you are right try not too over grease . It damages seals and let's in dirt . I've done it many times.
We have the same clippers since last year. Good strong cut but the battery does be falling out. Tape is keeping it together but during the spring its used everyday so it can take a proper beating
I am a small farmers in Cornwall England, and have a Bateman ambassador squeeze crush very nice bit of equipment.
No grants either
Adrian if you get an oul sweet tin and fill it with half diesel and half engine oil and dip the clippers into it between each cow they go a lot better and keeps them right because that oiler yoke that comes with them is a joke just a suggestion of what we do ourselves

If your putting up a crush chute ,consider putting up two sets of posts and rails and not just against a wall as that gives you access on both sides and a Morris or Ritchie head gate

May I suggest you pierce the top of bottle with the needle before putting it on the gun I find the plastic spike can snap off or worse it is blunt and pushes the rubber into the bottle doesn't happen often but has happened

I made a crush with rails and bars I found when I built the new crush coming out of the house better as they were going from the dark to the light where as the old old they were slow going into it
Check shafted with full lock on 2 c if need 2 cut any of as it cud cause problems

When you buy gas for welder there is a company that refill medium sized cylinder. Just buy cylinder and pay for refill every time. No need to pay for expensive rental of cylinder Annually plus paying for refill

Could you explain why you started vaccinating for Lepto? Had you fertility problems? Did you blood test first to see if it was in the herd?
Yes I did explain in a video, we had fertility issues, we run a series of milk test which confirmed the high presents of lepto

Better off buy foot bath off Murphy concrete ud never be able to seal it enough for it to be water tight have a Murphy one she fit 200L change it every 2 milkings allso zinc cow lick in collecting yard they seem to go mad for it just hang off gate
No never have lamb cows, only thing we get from time to time is stone bruising from the lane ways.
@@IFarmWeFarm have a look up on the zinc cow lick off grassland agco for certain times of the year to harden the hoofs you keep the place fare well there lad wish our place was as tidy

Cows respond to people's behaviour and temperament. If your calm and relaxed around cows and aren't shouting and trying to force cows where they don't want to go then cows will tend to be calm and relaxed as well.
@@jameshussey4900 that’s is 100% correct, they don’t forget if there mistreated or badly handled. Calm and patients isn’t always easy but it will make the jobs so much easier

No dribble bar is hydraulic but it just means the pump with be run separately so your oil flow won’t be under the same usage
