I remember that feeling. We had twenty years TB free, then lost seven cows in one hit, they all had calves under six weeks old. It was a real kick in the guts and a massive blow to the farm and our finances, suddenly taking on the unexpected care of those calves, so I'm sorry its hit you folks too. 120 days of no trading, extra feed and bedding costs and not knowing if and when its going to end. Fingers crossed for a short, dry winter. Hopefully your compensation check will be sensible🤞🏽🤞🏽 Keep yer pecker up. Regards to your dad too.
Great video as always karen i feel your pain Back at the start of my farm in 1997 I bought 25 herford suck calves reared them bulled them and three weeks off the first one calving they were tested and 18 of them went down along with 12 of my second batch of calves that were year old at the time I was ready to pull the pin on farming but didn't stayed at it only had 1 more case since then 🤞 its tough to loose them but keep keep your head up keep at it

Hi Karen, very sad news reported , it's absolutely gut wrenching. We have tb here in NZ . Possiums are out vector. We are winning on eradication with large areas clean. We also have a false positives as well due to the large duck population in NZ Avian tb also reacts to the testing in cattle ,it's 3 weeks of angst until results come through. Kerian, it’s very disappointing and difficult to have to face being locked up with all the hard work that goes into rearing your animals. Take a day or two to organise your feeding and housing groups going forward and keep your chin up girl, these things are going to happen to the best of us, stay strong, safe and positive, this too shall pass. You & your dad have a great working relationship and enjoy your time with each other despite this setback. It’s a bummer at any time of year but especially prior to offloading cattle for the winter months. Having gone through this in 2009, it brought me back to the heartache I faced with the result & the fear that I had done something wrong, all totally understandable but also totally unjustified. Ye are doing a terrific job, the cattle are a credit to ye & the work being done plus a full time job is just outstanding so you should be very proud of yourself girl. Áine
Hi Karen I really love your channel your a credit to the farming world of ireland just thinking about that calf with the sore leg I say the calf got joint ill and that comes from infected navil you still can get the calf well you could need an antinflanry injection and a big happy birthday 🎉🎂🍻
Karen, sorry to hear about the reactor. We've had TB here on and off over the years. Badgers of course, but easier to brush it under the carpet. Just a point to consider, you can move your annual herd test to another month. Worth considering if you sell at the same time every year. Avoids getting caught when you have them ready to sell.
Can you ask the department if you can retest her in 45 days and keep her separated until then. Usually more flexibility when only one case in a herd as more than likely she will kill out clear even after they culture her organs. Sorry to hear you have this situation. Nearly everyone with cattle get a similar episode and a lot never had TB at all. Best wishes
its sole destroying to get any negative results with anything. but it happens . hopefully there was a happy ending for kerry karen. you have to take the rough with the smooth. i used to milk the cows, loved them. actually miss em. when i see them at shows, im still nuts about them. i do get emotional . because you never loose the love of the animals. actually milked a blind cow. she was gorgeous. you said youre animals were as good as gold. that should be green and gold. lol. good on you karen.

Gutted. Hate to see you down Karen. You’re always so positive.
Here’s hoping for 2 clear tests.
With the loader, I’m sure you’ll be much smoother come spring. It’s a big change from the 135, it’ll just take time.
Very sorry to hear your bad news. Hopefully all will work out okay for you .
Hi karen.sorry to hear u had a reactor.its a massive blow this time of year.ur face said it all that u were so mad and sad at the same time.please god u will be free at the end of the 2 tests.take care ur doin ur best.
Hi. Karen Sorry to hear of your reactor. Hopefully it will only be one. Great video as usual. All the best
Good video your getting the hang off the loader .sorry to hear you have a reactor hope you will get back to normal quickly
Always difficult when results are hard to cope with, keep strong Karen you got this sending love hugs to you all ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey Karen, I am so sorry to hear about your Cow/calf. It truely sucks. I have no encourgement for you, I know how it feels losing one of your joys. I hope things get better in the next few days.
Hard look uon t b test. What the b on bales you are feeling. A tip on putting on and tools on loader is keep a slit tilt out on head when you are hiching up
Kerian, it’s very disappointing and difficult to have to face being locked up with all the hard work that goes into rearing your animals.
Áine
Thank you!
U could drive bale spike into bale and leave stuck in it till next used works well
Hi Karen I really love your channel your a credit to the farming world of ireland just thinking about that calf with the sore leg I say the calf got joint ill and that comes from infected navil you still can get the calf well you could need an antinflanry injection and a big happy birthday 🎉🎂🍻
I've had one with joint ill before but this doesn't seem to be that. I think she got hit by one of the others
You are a great farmer Karen it's not your fault for TB .Things will work out for you soon.
Hey Karen stay positive it’s a big blow to take but things will get better 👍

Farmers worst nightmare, keep going great video. All the best.
Your not the only one that's sick of farming.. The sooner 2023 ends the better. Hopefully ere not locked up too long. Testing myself in 2 weeks.. 😕
Best of luck with it
@@karenmoynihanfarm thanks..
Working to hard Karen should get the other half to help
@@MatthewConlon-b6o he does help
Karen, sorry to hear about the reactor. We've had TB here on and off over the years. Badgers of course, but easier to brush it under the carpet.
Just a point to consider, you can move your annual herd test to another month. Worth considering if you sell at the same time every year. Avoids getting caught when you have them ready to sell.
Thank you
if there is tb outbreak in your area its 6 or 4 month test depending on the department
@@karenmoynihanfarm Don't listen to this fool , why would you want to be responsible for spreading TB its bad enough .
Sorry here of your TB test . Hope you don't get anymore . I think there is a help farmers can get for to help with cost of is kind of thing. Keep the fath
So sorry best of all good wishes xoxos ❤
We lost them all in 1996 with Brucellosis 177 calves, and all then took 10 years to build back up again seven tb out breaks then 04 I was told I had MS. Now in wheelchair most down grading thing ever.
I'm so sorry to hear that
Sorry to hear your news,
Hopefully it will be the only one.
