  • WE'VE BEEN LIED TO ABOUT HOMESCHOOL
I've gotten a lot of messages and comments regarding homeschooling. Some positive and some negative, but some that have made us realize something. That we've been lied to about homeschool.

Homeschooling has made my daughter so organized and responsible because she’s completely in charge and it leaves so much more time in her day so she can get up and go jogging and she gotten into cooking and baking and cleaning. It’s so incredible to see the growth a 15 year old has made when not being forced to go sit in classrooms all day and be influenced by other teens that aren’t at her maturity level. She went to private school until 5th grade.

I’m a teacher and I totally agree that homeschooling is amazing for so many families. I agree that homeschooling only needs to be a few hours a day if you have one to time with a child. So many families are making this choice now and I congratulate you on your convictions.

You are wise beyond the years. I'm in my late 50s and I regret not being with my children more and I would definitely home school if I could take back time. Keep them home and just simply love them 😊.

Such a great video! We are in our 9th year of homeschooling our kids. During our 3rd year of homeschooling our kids we started to focus on interest based learning and it has been such a beautiful journey to watch our kids take ownership of their education and love learning. I have met so many homeschool families that have some of the most intelligent, kind and down to earth kids. I love watching your families homeschool journey.

As a mom to 14 I thought I had to do school at home.. wrong we are so hands on homeschooling now. The relationship aspect doing school this way is so much more meaningful! You hit the nail on the head here!

Great video! You worded this perfectly, and thank you for sharing this. I know i and many other families need to hear that homeschooling doesn't need to look like a public school day. I love how you hit on the socializing aspect of homeschooling.

Thank you for posting this. I am a mom of 7 (5 bio and 2 step) and all of our older children went through public. With our youngest 2 children God placed it on our hearts to homeschool. By far I'm loving this journey better! I now look back and wish I could have done this for at least some of my older kids for at least the elementary years. You'll never regret spending more time with them but often I wish I had more time with my older kids. At one point I had sent my oldest to elementary for 8 hours and in addition to that had to pay and send him to Sylvan Learning to receive help with reading.

I send 3 of my kids to public because they all have an IEP and I cannot provide certain things they need from a speech therapist or ot therapy. I do however homeschool my one teenager. It has been so hard trying to keep regular school out of homeschool. Im going to start homeschooling her all year instead of trying to cram it in in the normal school months. She is different and I'm learning to really go by what she needs. Sometimes we take long long breaks because I'm in no mood to argue with her and result in not learning because she needed a mental break. Homeschooling is amazing because of all the reasons you said. I just wished I could with my other 3 but as for now it's just me and my teenage daughter.

YESSSSS MAMA!!! Homeschool is a dream, people are just so uneducated about it!!
And the socialization aspect… I want to protect my child from all that, because all I remember from school is all the hard friend relationships and clicks and bullying and being insecure or being peer pressured to fit in.

Sending kids to school to socialize is comical. In my 13 years of school I can’t even tell you how many times I was told by my teachers that “we’re not here to socialize we’re here to learn.” They get at most an hour with their friends between lunch & recess.

You are an amazing woman to do all you do for your kids. When I took my kids out of public school it was the best thing that I ever did. It is so nice to be able to teach your kids in the way they learn. All my kids had different learning styles, and working with them that way was so beneficial to them. My kids loved all the fun things that they got to learn on Co-op field trips.

Danielle as a mom of 2 you are a huge inspiration to me. I'm truly grateful for this video you posted this has been on my mind alot recently. As of right now we are keeping our son in a Montessori private school but this will be my back up plan if my son expresses he doesn't want to go to school. I would love to chat back and forth about what type of curriculum or schedule you use. Unfortunately we don't have any parent friends, let alone ones that homeschool. I think we share alot of similar beliefs and family values. I would really enjoy it if there was a way we could connect, so I could ask you some questions one on one.

I do public school because as a newly single stay at home mom 😅, i need all the help i can get.
Love their school though. I need time to get stuff done because my husband up andnleft and im outnumbered 😮.
But when they get home i have all the time to help with homework and dinner. Gotta start a side hustle for income though. Child support and spouse support falls short. ❤
I always wonder how large families have time to pour into each child well. I guess homeschool might be how it could be done. ✔

I think that the main determiner of homeschool or public/private school should be if the parent's opinions and strategies about ideal teaching and leadership match with the local faculty. If they disagree then homeschooling would make sense. Personally, I like to have clear guidance about the actions I take, so if I could learn how to parent from my child's teachers that would be fantastic, but I don't have kids by they way, so maybe I would start to develop my opinions and strategies by that time. I'm glad to hear (and see) that your kids aren't cooped up inside all the time, and that homeschooling can be done anywhere, not just at home.

Danielle, I have been watching your vlogs since Jude was a toddler and you just had the 3 girls. I admire how you and John spend time and homeschooling with your children. I have seen most of your videos to know that you take them on field trips and do a lot not just at home for school. I am 56 and have 3 kids who are adults now and I regret not doing what you are doing. Like you said, I don't know what I'm doing etc and so, my oldest was ditching school a lot and so in the 10th grade I took her out. My middle daughter was the go and get so she went to college and my son barely graduated. How would it of been if I did what you are doing? I will never know now. You are such a an inspiration and I pray other parents will be inspired to try if they are able to. I love you Murray's and I always plead the Blood of the Lamb over your family and your home and animals❤️‍🔥

I have taught in a public school for 37 years. I think homeschool has many benefits and would have loved to have homeschooled my own children had that been an option. Public school is not what it used to be. So many kids with behavior problems and large class sizes result in not an ideal learning environment. You seem to have a great homeschool community!

It's always so funny to me when I tell people I homeschool their first sentence is always about socialization 😐🤭 every report card I ever received always had comments on talks too much during class etc. Not only that, but there are SO MANY ADULTS who have horrid social skills and they were public schooled.
My kiddos are very active in our church, we have a monthly homeschool gathering that includes trips, projects, community help etc.
There are many benefits to homeschooling your children that a public or private school setting will never be able to give kids.
If the one thing my kiddos will get considered that they are lacking is social skills, I really am fine with that 😅 because like stated before there are many adults who clearly missed that mark.

I'm sensing alot of judgement from some folks in the comment secion -- that may NOT understand the whole-concept of Home-Education. It's not a "one-size-fits-all" box. 99% of Homeschooling parents home educate their children for MANY, reasons; none of which are to limit a child's education or limit a child's way of learning. In fact, it's very much the opposite. Home Education has endless possibilities. ENDLESS. Thank you for sharing your journey, Murray family; you're sticking your neck out there-- keep holding your head up high! I stuck mine out a few times---when it was unheard of. It was not easy to face all the critics; and there were plenty of them; most of which did NOT understand Home Education, whatsoever. They thought it was a reflection of what public school "should be" ---which isn't all that it is cracked up to be, for certain. 6 succesful, Spirit-filled, energetic, always-eager to learn--- adult children later, is REALLY the only proof we need as home-school parents.

Our 2 older kiddos experienced public school and suffered big time with anxiety attacks and to be quite blunt, public school also ruined my kid's. They started to change in personality and becoming disobedient. Covid hit, and at the time we had an 11th grader and a 6th grader. We decided after that fiasco to continue homeschooling and both kid's agreed that they liked it better. Anxiety attacks went away. (Technically, demonic attacks creating anxiety) Our oldest graduated last year, 2nd child is in 10th grade now, 3rd started kindergarten this year and when our 4th is 5, she will also be homeschooled. Best decision we ever made was to pull our kid's out of the public school system. ❤❤❤
People need to see video's like this and they also need to dive deep into what these schools are actually teaching these kid's. It quite sickening and I'm so glad my kid's are at home with me. We use Alpha Omega curriculum for the most part and they keep their schooling GOD centered AND it's all bookwork. No computers and that's why we chose it.
