How are you doing a hobby farm, homeschooling, raising ten kids, maintaining a marriage, cooking every meal, making these TH-cam videos, collaborating with other TH-camrs, creating classes and products to sell, getting ready and maintaining your appearance... Are you actually the robot mom from the Umbrella Academy and you never ever sleep? I want videos on executive function. I don't have a farm or channel and I only have two kids and I find life challenging especially running my house. The pressure of homeschooling is real. Im working through it.

My favorite parts of homeschooling are the Ah Ha! moments and the learning along with my kids. Like today, I learned that there are 4 stages of matter, when I only learned 3 in school!

Im glad I found your channel Angie and it led me here!
    Video suggestions:
    1) Homeschooling after years of public school. (We started at 6th and 10th grade)
    2) Homeschooling with adult ADHD/anxiety/depression/ chronic illness
    3) How to teach by style.... Eclectic "outside the box" style, Type A style, distracted, hands on, audio/visiual, etc.
    4) Keeping teenagers engaged through high school years with distractions of relationships/sports/work, etc.
Just a few things our home is working through ❤

I checked off every single item on your list 😅, makes sense why it didn’t work for us. Our son was miserable, he hated it and wanted to be around other kids (we only have 2 kids) and even though we met up with other families often, it wasn’t enough. I’m also a type A person and when things are out of my routine, it stresses me out so much and I’m not being productive. And I work from home, that’s another stressor. Any homeschool mom I know, is so stressed out with it. It’s defiantly not for everyone.

I would love to see a video on keeping records, transcripts, or portfolios. Another one I would like is high school level courses, programs or ideas since not many people talk about that stage of homeschooling and it can be the most scariest time.😬

Honestly, I just don’t feel safe with sending my kids to public schools anymore with some of the crazy things that happen. Like threats of bombing or kid on campus with a gun. Although we live in a very safe area, we do get those threats every now and then in our schools and even though nothing has happened, I hope nothing ever happens but that fear is always there.

I have stumbled across your videos at a much needed time. Thank you for saying all the things I needed to hear right now to keep chugging along. I’m looking at my rising kindergartener wondering how I’m going to start him and keep my current 2nd grader on track too. We CAN do it. I might need to reset my own mindset!

This was so timely! We are currently in the process of considering homeschooling our 3 kids. More specifically doing a hybrid format where they go to a school campus 2 days a week. Many of your reasons not too are a part of our "why"! I need to go back and watch your videos where you talk about how you do things schedule wise. I operate a cut flower farm and worry about how to format my days to still get the farm stuff done and homeschool. (ages 13, 10(who also has Down syndrome, and 6)

Love this video, Angela. I have been following you since Rosie’s adoption and I loved the homeschooling part of your channel. Thanks to your videos, experience, and knowledge, I am now homeschooling my 5 year old and I am planning to continue this for as long as I can. Now I am passionate about this and everything you said is 100 percent true. It is so challenging in the beginning but if it’s in your heart, you can navigate through this journey. ❤

Kids 5 years and younger do not need to be homeschooled or go to school. They need an environment to explore, be outside and play. They need to be read to and nurtured. Course books or class rooms are not needed.

I have a video on homeschooling with a baby or toddler around coming out Friday.
I'm definitely no expert, but just sharing some tips that I've found helpful.
I'm also curious what your goals or expectations are with kids so young. Homeschooling during those early years usually doesn't mean a lot of time sitting still 😉

I would love content to help a new homeschooling mom. My son is 4 and I’ve had him home with me for 2 years now and I’ve learned a bunch about homeschooling but it’s still a daunting thing to think about when it comes to all the registration and stuff. I’m in Florida so I have to send updates and such in and keep records and I’m nervous but really excited. I would love some content on how best to start and which subjects to focus on for a 5 year old and the beginners stuff!

Angie! First off...super excited about the new channel. I'm here for all of the homeschool content. What are your thoughts on homeschooling an only child? I feel sometimes like I'm depriving my kid of interaction with other kids, though I do have my child involved in other activities...almost to our detriment (financially and time wise).

I love this channel so far. This got me thinking and I was wondering if you could talk about how to involve your partner in homeschooling. My husband and I are both educators, but I have been thinking that I would be the one homeschooling when my sons get older. Is there a way to share that without having "too many cooks in the kitchen" or put too much burden on either of us?

I find one way to make learning fun is showing family members what your child has learned by having grandparents or aunts over and you take out a whiteboard and your child answers math equations that they learned in front of their family, they get excited showing all that they have accomplished.

We always did an "end of school year celebration" where we showcased our favorite work to our grandparents/family members who came. We read our favorite papers we wrote, played our best musical pieces, had our art displayed in a "gallery," and described our favorite things we learned in literature, science, and history. Always such a fun way to end the year (plus a great review too!)

I am struggling to feel like I’m spending enough time involved with my 3rd grader. I have to work FT, 7-3. Three days I can work from home and two days in office. If he didn’t have siblings on a regular school schedule, I think he would be open to schooling outside regular “school hours.”

There are many ways to homeschool multiple grades. You could do 30 min increments for the first 2 or 3 hours for language arts and math. Then you could do knowledge based subjects together.

I was teaching my almost 9 year old how centuries workand how you figure out what century we are in. I knew what century we were in but never understood “why?” How do you figure that out?🤦🏻‍♀️
It all made perfect sense finally at 34 years old.
We all have to remember that there are gaps in all of our educations. And our children will also have gaps too and it will be perfectly fine. I have functioned perfectly fine in life even though I didn’t know centuries.

I firmly believe why most do not homeschool is because it would require self-sacrifice in various areas (as you mentioned) And we have become enslaved by popular culture or out of touch with instincts.
I do not promote that everyone should homeschool, but I do promote taking the time and asking: why am I doing this? And really owning up to one's weaknesses and being willing to change and connect deeply with family and friends.
Because it can sometimes feel easier to deal with grumpy colleagues or clients, than negotiating life with family (not referring to abusive relationships)

I was wondering if you have had difficulty homeschooling a highly extroverted child? Obviously your home has a lot of people in it all the time so maybe not. But if you could give suggestions to someone who is wanting to homeschool an elementary school child (2nd grade) who is very extroverted and loves being around (and use to now) a lot of people all the time. He has 2 younger siblings who he can play well with for a short amount of time then seems to get a little stuck/bored and frustrated at home with the lack of stimulation. 🤔🥴 thanks!

We couldn’t do it with our oldest. Every day he said he felt like he’s in prison, because he wanted to be around other kids, I think if you have a large family, it’s different and helps. Even though we did meet up with friends often, he was miserable and I was stressed out dealing with school while taking care of a newborn. It’s not for everyone.

You SHOULD homeschool them unless u want them to learn about sex at the age of 2 and learn to hate their race and heritage. Just some of the big reasons why pulling your kids out now would be something to think about.
