Interesting fights everywhere. You made us wait three weeks for the show, but now you provide a lot of action indeed. Almost all objectives across the broad board were contested on the final day!
I hope the relics in tabernacle church stayed undamaged in all that back and forth!
The Union defenders chased away from that spot first should have ended their retreat, well rout in fact, in Fredericksburg outright instead of to the north of it. They could have done so on their sixth retreat step for the final move south would not have taken it closer to Jackson. One never knows what will come up, and thus rather park even demoralized guys in the more useful insuring spots.
Of course, Rogers rush to Fredericksburg was surprising and indeed “Jackson’esk” as you coined it. I also liked Rogers use of the cavalry for delaying Hookers relieve force. Very smart conduct!
And finally, on the doomed attempt to take Fredericksburg “from the dry side”: Why didn’t Burnside try at 39:50 at least to increase its chances by making it a grand?
It is “BTC” after all. 😁
Well, you got another attempt by reserving the eastern threat by Hooker, but that proved to be a bad one.
Stopping play then is okay. Thus, no need to apologize at 42:25 for surrendering.
This time you played all four days to a reasonable end. The remaining shots were indeed desperate ones.
On your “Flanks Refused” survey, mark my on the side of fellows that think you put them up a little too often or too early. Some times in some games I thought you offer that +1 and in fact invite an attack that otherwise would not be attractive when the danger of a bigger flank was if at all long along the road.
    Regards
    Holger

Shocked. At the start of day's play Burnside was starting to look like Grant.

Maybe Sykes should have made a forced march?
