This time the early pontoons were in fact placed and things sped on turn 1 already. Good to see the different approach in the rematch, so we can compare alternatives.
At 11:30 the Rebels contemplated a Grand Assault against the yet small if crowded bridgehead. And Patrick later at the end of day 1 explained his decision not to attack. Yes, the firework would have been huge and the Union Artillery commanded by Hunt is daunting. But the chances would anyway not be so bad. You didn’t spell out the potential odds of a Grand with Lee bonus. What would it have been? A +1? Assuming odds covered but Arty not? A potential 5/12th success (assuming the additional condition that Lee achieves his coordination fine) would have shut the central front for good.
…or even better at a +2 at the start of day 2 after Hunt had left the place!
Manoeuvre pettiness: As Patrick already commented in-video at the end of day…
but I as well thought while watching: 21:40 Stoneman could indeed have used the shortcut via the dam instead of round-wooding the major river part. Dam it, don’t overlook that small dam.
Jackson in general marched too leisurely for my taste. Only to fatigue 2 on the first day? I know they start exhausted; but so what? Especially, when you intend to rest by going to 1 only on day two, then you should go to 3 on first day in any case. Or, more aggressively, Stonewall’esk, and I think recommended here: Go to 3 on both days. You would have got 6 instead of 3 activations on those two days, getting the bunch expected 16.5 movement points further. They would be right in place and in action for day 3 already. Sure, they might be disorganized and even assemble some marching losses. But again: So what? The one early stumble at the head of the column seems to have stopped your eagerness here, Patrick. Extending to 3 is far more efficient than force marching at least. And you might in your reluctant approach be “forced” to do this later (hence the name of the action).
Anyway, it is still a long way for Roger to the southern objectives as well. Thus it stays cliffhanging interesting.
    Regards
    Holger

Around 0:45:50, it looked to me as though Whipple went right through Griffin on a woods road without paying a movement penalty.

Well, you left us in typical Batman fashion with a cliffhanger.
