I have been using Goldman's Wood Balm for finishing cutting boards. It works well.

I'm using beeswax and mineral oil. Made by myself awesome staff. Protects wood really good

U can use any other wood. Don't have to be exotic woods. Could be oak, maple, walnut or any other. Also no need thicknesser but it makes much easier
