On June 9th, 2023, I took my test for the first time. I watched your video 3 times to really grasp the strategies in analyzing and responding to questions. I used another resource that had three assessments I used to strengthen my use of your strategies presented in this video. My friend and I watched this before taking our PET and we passed on the first try! These strategies helped so much and there were even questions on the exam that were the same as these practice questions (I'm sure I just got lucky). Thank you for the uploads. They are very helpful, especially the Stow method you use. However I am still struggling with certain questions.
I purchased the FTCE pro ed text book recently and I am currently taking the practice tests. I have run into numerous incoherent questions. For example:
A student expresses concern to the teacher about his grade on his last test. The student is accustomed to making As and is displeased that he earned a C on his last test. One way for the teacher to help the student understand his grade is to?
A. Show the student the grade book so the student can see that few students made As or Bs on the test
B. Go over the answer key with the student, explaining why he missed questions
C. Tell the students that the grades in class ranged from C to F, that the median grade was an F and the top grade was a C.
D.Assure the student that the test was very hard and encourage him to study harder for the next exam.
** The correct answer is C. In no way does the question indicate the highest grade was a C, or provide any info on other students grades. Are we suppose make assumptions? To me the correct answer should be B. Can you help clarify?

@@TheLearningLiaisons According to my break down , i need a 240 to pass (they wont tell my how many I can get correct or wrong). I received a score of 222. I scored low in the professional conduct and work in a learning community area
for the 155.
@@arkeshiawashington6361 passing percentages are around 70% for most exams. Just multiply the number of test questions by 70% to get an approximation.
Do the strategies work for tests in tx?

You chose D for the answers to one of the questions, but you said the answer is FERPA. FERPA is C, not D. Dis the Equal Access Act of 1984! So, which one is the correct answer?

It’s not FERPA...it’s definitely Equal Access Act - definition: The Equal Access Act is a United States federal law passed in 1984 to compel federally funded secondary schools to provide equal access to extracurricular student clubs.

Is there anyway you can help if possible for the ftce music? Its easy for all other subjects but finding a music tutor for the ftce is scarce.
That is one of the more difficult subjects to find an instructor. Unfortunately, we do not currently have one on staff.

I purchased this course to pass the FTCE Professional Education Test. But here’s what happened. I studied the test taking strategies up and down, sideways, and diagonally. After some time I felt good about going into the exam with great anticipation of moving forward afterward. In fact, I finished the test with 28 mins to spare. So when I got up from my chair and left the room, the proctor handed me the unofficial report. It read: NOT PASS. Wait, what? Not pass? This has to be a mistake, right? Nope. And let me tell you, those two words stood out like a turd in a punch bowl. Everyone knows a Not Pass on a state exam isn’t a D, let alone a C, but an F. Yet I’ve never received an F on any college test as an undergrad or graduate student. In fact, I graduated with honors. So what happened? I don’t know. But here’s what I do know. The state of Florida knows that teaching students “test taking strategies” is NOT effective instruction. So why are teachers being taught this sort of thing to pass a state exam? Again, I don’t know. What was I thinking?!? Anyway, of the 6 exams needed to obtain certification, I’ve taken two and passed both on the first try. How did I do it? I did it based on content. I read the question, answered the question in my head, and then looked for that answer among the four choices. And that’s how it’s done folks. Real-world learning. No shortcuts. No trickery involved or barely passing with a percentage to beat the system. Oh well, back to the old drawing board. Now running to buy study guides to do it right the second time around. Hope my loss of time, money, and effort is now someone else’s gain. Good luck!

I took this test and didn't pass it in the first round.. I'm taking it again this Friday but may I say that study guides were huge portions of the test so that with you i agree.. I'm sorry you didn't pass as well.. I'm so scared and I'm trying everything i can to hopefully pass.. i still have to pass the GK and two parts of the subject area
Why didn't you study the content information? He did not tell you not to study.
I like the fact that you are being helpful in making these videos, but it is hard to concentrate on reading & answering the questions when you are talking throughout. That is definitely a stress factor. Just talk when we have 10 seconds left. That is just a tip…

what does STOW STAND FOR? i cant find it on the video.
He writes it down when he introduces it:
Similar/Same 3 words or more
Theme - 2 or 3 similar themes
Outlier - one that doesn’t belong or is definitely incorrect
Words or Phrases - understanding vocabulary and breaking it down to match the questions.
I just took the FTCE test today and this is all wrong. There is no outliers, there's no patterns, no themes, no negative questions.. nothing from this video.
