Much love, Nightwish Army!!! Do you believe this is one of Floors best performances? Tuomas sure has high praise for her in his countdown video for this amazing song!

Yes, i agree with Tuomas 🤘 I mean , you hear her Emotions. One tip from me. Look to the docu The Floor Jansen Story(with english subtitles). It is from the german show Sing meinen Song(like Beste Zangers)

Floor has certainly mastered far more complicated songs ... but how she conveys these lyrics goes straight to the soul.

Hey guys, 73 years old hippie from The Netherlands (Floor, Simone, Anneke & Ayreon Country) reporting in: Very good reaction on this amazing piece of music. I noticed that the book at the right site of the screen is the Dutch version of the Origin of Species. Maybe they did this for Floor because she's very much interested in Biology. I recall she once said that she wanted to be a biologist when she was young ...??? Shine on 🤘

The whole H.:N is awesome. Procession is hard stuff. But, what a Massage. Yep Tuomas is genius, and Floor is his Voice. One Question to you friends. Do you react CD2 with us. Greetings from nothern Germany 😂

Great reaction. For me this song is being told by whatever intelligent life that comes after us. In the same way that we study the past they are studying our history. How we evolved from simple aggressive creatures to thoughtful intelligent beings. Eventually we will either evolve into a new species or go extinct. This song is a reminder to be mindful of our legacy.

This song...makes me humble, for life, for earth, for everything. I try to be better person every second I live. It is all I got. Life is beautiful and we all should respect that. Peace and love to you all 💝

I have to admit that this song is one of my favorite songs of the album, even though I find it unspeakably sad. For me this song is the "missing" part of "The greatest Show on Earth" or the logical second part of it.
I understand the song as a reminder that the life or the existence span of a species is limited. Also that of the human being. There have been many mass extinctions in the course of life on our little blue dot in the universe as a result of major upheavals in living conditions or global catastrophes. According to many scientists, we are just at the beginning of another mass extinction. This time, however, the reason is the way a life form of this planet deals with nature and the planet's resources ... premiere, whoopee! (I am less worried about life, life as a whole is quite tough, but man is not necessary for the existence of "life" and from the point of view of life itself possibly a fatal aberration).
So for me Floor sings from the point of view of "our" successors, but they don't necessarily have to have evolved from us and she does it in a voice that is so bitter sweet, so wistfully so sadly beautiful that it almost physically hurts me .... But could listen to it all day ....
By the way: awesome t-shirt .... I think there is a twin of this in my closet ^^

Imagine two aliens meeting somewhere in the Andromeda galaxy the future. And they starts talking about their ancestors - and one of them tells this story about the blue Planet, where his ancestors lived. What better way to tell the story, than by Floor, giving the story her personal touch - they will both instantly know what they have missed!!

This song about the evolution of life & progression of mankind on our planet is my favorite on the newest Nightwish album because of the storytelling & Floor's amazingly emotional & touching vocals. Being somewhat of a science geek, I'd like to interpret "we" in the lyrics as those evolved beings that have created this simulation that we humans now live in, i.e. it's science fiction for me, although many renowned scientists also believe that we live in such a simulation or even in a series of nested simulations.
Another possibility to interpret "we" in the lyrics is to say that it refers to all the fossils & man made objects that have been used as proof of life's evolution and mankind's progression to what it is now, just like the broken tablet at the end of the lyrics video will be one of such objects to some post-human race after mankind is gone.

Tuomas has so many links to other songs not only in this
Human. :II: Nature. album but to previous songs and albums.(eg. Greatest Show on Earth, Endless forms most beautiful etc.)
The 1st side of this album listening to the songs again in album order will provide you an even greater admiration for how everything intertwines - beginning with the album title, then the first song Music through to Endlessness.
    1. "Music"
    2. "Noise"
    3. "Shoemaker"
    4. "Harvest"
    5. "Pan"
    6. "How's the Heart?"
    7. "Procession"
    8. "Tribal”
    9. "Endlessness"
Then listen to side 2 of the album which is Majestic!! 😊

Coincidence - I was wearing that same Floor t-shirt as I watched this 😁
Nightwish of course are official ambassadors for the World Land Trust and have a wildlife reservation in Mexico named after them.
Floor and Tuomas' both have insects named after them - as a beetle-lover I think it's a particularly beautiful specimen.
Edit: been waiting for disc 2 so glad you'll do it.
There are a couple of good analyses out there: MTR did one and JW Soundworks didva very good one

Beautiful song. I read that Tuomas wrote this from the perspective of humans that have left the earth and are looking back on their humble beginnings with love and appreciation. The second half of the album are nature based instrumentals, not just instrumental versions of the songs on the first half. It’s beautiful! I love to have it playing while I garden! This video does the music justice. It’s about 30 minutes long.

This song has a huge message. At the end you realize it's sung by whatever we evolve into in the far far future. That part really grabs me.
The blue - throated macaw in this video. Not long ago its cousin the blue or hyacinth macaw (the birds that were the inspiration for animated movie Rio) went extinct. Rhinos nearly extinct. There are only two white rhinos left in the world and both are female. Extinction is part of nature, but not like this. Humans are way too greedy and cause extinction. That's not nature, that's... genocide...
In Human :II: Nature record hearing session for Journalists in Spring 2020
Tuomas told that Nightwish has donated a significant amount of money for the work against climate change
    - In practice, our donation is used to buy a forest area that is under threat of felling. Floor has sold his performance clothes and the money is directed to the same destination. Also, each member of the band donates a certain amount into the World Land Trust once a month.
    - We cooperate with the World Land Trust.
Fun fact we humans changed the world in 200 years like the World change by herself in 1 Million years ...
Here's a bit from an interview with Floor and Marko talking about Procession...
    -----------
Funny thing that neither of you mentioned PROCESSION which was the song that turned me into a basket case.
Floor: - I can imagine! And do you know what’s it about? The ones talking are POST-HUMAN. We talk - we - talk to humans as we would go back in time. We talk about the beginning of time before humans and humans come in and humans don’t really understand. Yet. Until we do. And then, when everything’s destroyed we go up and we look back on it all from there and that’s what goes on towards the end of the song.
    Trans-human, is it?
Floor: - Yeah, maybe. But the song also got me really bad, because I was pelted as soon as I realized what I was singing about. [chokes a bit]
Marko: - But is it something post-human that found us? Or is it something that came from us?
Floor: - I think it came from us. And the message was sent from the post-human lifeform in a different planet but to Earth. Because “We write this in a tongue you will understand”. It’s a communication tool.
Marko: - Yeah, that’s the one thing that made think that is this thing totally alien? There are still some things unsolved.
Floor: - Yeah. “We Were There And We Will Remember Mankind.” [choking back tears] “Our kin. Ages ago.” So, it’s a long time into the future. It’s very horrible.
    NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.

It has its moments, but HtN is my least favourite Nightwish album. I've tried, but I just can't get into it. The songs seem confused and lacking in direction. The nature bit just seems like pleasant elevator music. To put that in perspective, I'm a lifelong lover of classical orchestral music and 'Nature' just doesn't hold a candle to my favourite orchestral/symphonic classics. Also, up until this album, Nightwish was/is my favourite band.

Unsurprisingly, your comment is at the very bottom of the -food chain- comment field. The almighty YT algorithm has gotten really good at sensing even the slightest criticism or negativity and making sure it gets the least amount of attention possible...
But yes, I agree. When symphonic metal loses the metal part, it becomes this: ambient music. A Hans Zimmer inspired soundtrack for a movie that doesn't exist.

    • @TheRealRedAce
      @TheRealRedAce ปีที่แล้ว

@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 I usually like Hans Zimmer and also Tuomas' orchestral arrangements, but just not on this occasion. I had expected to really like the 'nature' part, but....no, it just doesn't work for me like other orchestral nature pictures such as Beethoven's or Vaughan-Williams pastoral symphonies do for example. And there are many more such great works by Hovanhess, Smetana, Neilsen etc.
