Sure you have already figured out Z30. Just in case.... Rear dial plus ISO button is normal ISO adjustment where as front dial ( each click ) toggles in and out of auto ISO. Have a good one Casey. Have a Z18-140DX lens for my Z50 and the inbuilt VR makes up for no ibis very well.
the Nikon ISO buttons are pretty slick in that the FRONT DIAL puts you in AUTO ISO/MANUAL ISO. rear dial is for manual ISO only... no need to go into menu unless you want to set MAX/MIN setup...
You know Casey likes the camera when the video is him talking about OTHER cameras because the Nikon is just complete in the right ways. Next APS-C from Nikon needs internal N-Log and IBIS and they have the best on the market. The Z fc is the same camera as the Z30 (a little more $$$$$) but has more dials for manual control which COULD be the way to go if you want quick access to ISO and Exposure comp.
when i was in the army i could send a signal into space, bounce it off a couple of satellites and send it anywhere i wanted on the globe. the sony menu system is more complicated than beaming radio signals into space.
I made a pretty awesome little cinema rig out of a Canon R50. It cant do 4k60 but considering I exclusively record at 24p it's a non issue. The 10bit 4:2:2 HDR PQ mode is great and paired with some 7Artisans cinema lenses its quite capable. Fun little camera without breaking the bank. Im thinking I might build a full frame Canon cinema rig out of the R8.
Thanks, Kasey, for the comparison/specs. The Nikon, in my opinion, looked best prior to the HDR modes - very pleasing. The HDR modes took some getting used to - kind of looked a little too much 'action-cam' like at first, but, yeah, you start getting used to it after a while I suppose...
I've chosen a6700, because it cheapest way to have 200-600 focal range with 4k/120, whole setup cost me less than 3000$ on release date. For example fujifilm h2s + 150-600 would cost me minimum 4800$, canon R7 + 100-500 minimum 4200$ and no 4k/120fps.
Hey Casey! You have the most sane view on cameras on all of internet and I'm going crazy here, so if you please: Looking to replace my Sony A7II and Fujifilm X-T1 + lenses with one camera and like two lenses. I think I need / my priorities are: 1, Full frame 2, Nice colors (at least for jpegs, video is always edited anyways) 3, Image stabilization in body Battery life is somewhat important but I'm easily impressed coming from the A7II. I often use vintage glass, shoot mainly videos of my family and nature, scenery, travel, no vlogging. Budget is not great so I'm looking into used gear like Canon EOS R6 or older, perfer nice 1080p rather than 4k. I'm having trouble seeing options due to Sony-colors. I'd like your input please! Take care!
Your color coordination is on point. The sweater kind of matches your backpack I have been wanting an APS-C camera and I have been doing the research lately. Funny enough. I think I still want the Sony FX30 over anything.
If you *ever* take photos, I'd go with the a6700. The only thing it's missing from the FX30 is DCI 4K, Cine EI, a fan, and anamorphic de squeeze. DCI 4K is pretty limited, only works with the highest bitrate which needs V90 or CFExpress A cards, and you need to reboot the camera to get in or out of it-no other frame rates/resolutions work other than DCI 4K when you're in that mode.
Nice overview! Interesting to see the Nikon didn't do too bad with AF having that filter on. Yeah, the classic Nikon button hold plus dial rotate interface design can be confusing at first. I picked up a used Z30 recently after selling all of my Canon EF-M equipment. I'm hoping Nikon eventually offers something similar to the Sony FX30, but at a cheaper price. Same style of body but dual card slots, IBIS, larger EN-EL15 battery, full size HDMI, H.265 encoding, etc. I have a Nikon Z5 and the different batteries was the main reason I didn't want to do a sideways switch from the Canon M6 Mark II because it's pretty functionally similar to the Z30. At the very least Nikon seems to be at a technological level that solo video creation with their gear is now serviceable.
I love my z30, but one major annoyance very occasionally if you videoing something in the distance i.e a hill or a building it just won't focus switch over to photo and no problems. No issues with eye tracking.
If not exclusively for vlogging, I'd probably go with Fuji for APS-C. There are just so many amazing lenses, with Nikon and Canon you got very few, and attaching expensive, heavy FF lenses to it kind of defeats the purpose of buying APS-C in the first place.
Someone has stolen my used OM-5 (stolen = bought it before I do) I think it might be the best vlogging combo with Leica 9mm F1.7 ... weights 544g and gives you 18mm FOV.
I disagree. Dropping the EF-M system was a smart move for them. Now they only need to support one lens mount. And as far as specs go, idk what you're talking about. The only M series camera I'm aware of that can shoot 4K without caveats is the M6II, and it's very soft 4K. The R50 blows it out of the water and is still very small and lightweight.
The problem with the R50, R7, and every other RF-S camera is the huge lens mount diameter. They’ll never match how great the M series form factor was. And 4-5 years later they’re only as good as the M6ii was.. although still larger. If getting an RF-S body, just upgrade to a full frame RF or Sony if you want good performance and small form factor.
I already have a Sony 11mm f/1.8 with my old a6000, debating whether i shoud got a pocket 3 or ZV-E10 for vloging. Almost the same price for me, one of them is the perfect vloging camera but ZV-E10 can do so much more then just vloging...
If the show involves you sitting in front of a desk with a camera on a tripod, christmas lights in the background, get a softbox a hairlight, go for the Sony A6400 or Sony ZV-E10. If you move around and vlog, stay away from APSC. Just get the Pocket 3.
a6700 with 11mm on a Sirui mini tripod works for me. Walking or studio. Hand held I kind of chopped off the top of my head, with the tripod like a selfie stick it's perfect.
When you do eventually get your hands on a DJI pocket 3 to review, please do a brief side-by-side video comparison with all these cameras, without telling us which one is which.
Everyone should just buy a canon C70 and live the rest of their lives in cinematic happiness...get you a 1.33 anamorphic lens for the perfect "classic cinema look" and some zeiss Contax cine-mod lenses, a few canon FD lenses, and the tamaron 15-30mm with stabilization...oh and the DJI pocket 3 for vlogging...anything else is a waste of time for that...love the channel man!
Hey Kasey I just came acros some videos on youtube about Alice Camera 12mpx m43 sensor, to me at first I didn't like the sensor size. But it seems fun. Feel free to have a look. I would love to hear your opinion about it. Maybe you would have sent one unit to review. Cheers!
I have the ZV-E10 and just bought the Pocket 3 so I'll be doing some comparisons on my channel soon. The ZV-E10 has a great image but as you've pointed out many times, the stab is not good, and the rolling shutter makes for wobby edges with wide-angle lenses like my 11mm F/1.8. Catalyst is great but since you have to crank the shutter speed up, you lose a lot of the advantages of an APS-C camera. I can't wait to see what you think about the Pocket 3. You should ask Markus for his since he wasn't impressed with it.
On canon it seems that you can’t turn off auto iso in aperture or shutter priority in video mode. Only in manual you can. It maybe the same for Nikon? Also I noticed that those canon cameras you reference they have only 8 bit. The r50 and r10 do definitely have 10 bit in HDRPQ mode. It’s really easy in davinci to convert to 709 and has a lot more dynamic range that the 8bit standard profiles.
Not sure how much durability changed from the pocket 2 to the pocket 3 but the old one is pretty sturdy. Dropped it several times while mountainbiking, even one time on asphalt. Got some scratches but it works the same as day 1. Even battery is still great.
I love your channel. Here's an idea for a video- explain the significance/artistic choices of the opening titles- the fuzzy horse, monkey with a Nikon, Canon Cripple Hammer mailbox- ninja with a Fuji sweatshirt and the old-style camera with a flashbuld that looks like an alien from the Alpha universe. Most importantly, has the flash bulb fired yet and if not, what happens to the alien head when it does? Does the Alpha universe explode or are we enlightened somehow? And where are Pentax, Olympus and Leica in this psychedelic world? Please help us to understand.
For a short while I had the Nikon Zfc which is basically the same camera with an EVF. It's a very nice camera, but the AF really struggles even indoors in photo mode. And in video mode, it generally only works well for eyes and faces. If you point the camera at something random, it often just doesn't know what to focus on. Wonder how good the AF is on their new Nikon Zf.
I agree that the sony zv-e10 is old, I am debating it still tho. There are rumors about a mark II of the e10 (or e20). Can you speculate a little bit what they might put in it, to make it crush? But they probably double the price tho.
They'd put the new 26mp sensor from the FX30 / 6700 and some of the AI focus and framing stuff from the 6700 and ZV-E1. Probably match the 6700 frame rates and undercut it as no EVF etc. it'll be a cut price alternative to the ZV-E1.
The Z30's digital stabilization isn't good. The light was so bad, I can't really comment about the IQ. You should actually borrow the R50 or R10 and do an actual comparison. P. S. - the monochrome at the end actually looked pretty good! You should do that more often.
I know you like to curse all over aps-c but it would be awesome to see you review one of the new SIRUI Sniper F1.2 lenses. $300 each and coming out in like 2 weeks!
I want to test LUMIX G9II 120 fps 4K with Sony A6700. Sony crops in so it might be similar but less stable. I briefly had the A6700 but found A7IV 120 fps 1080 looked ok in APSC mode.
Gotta give that Nikon look 2nd place only to Canon then Olympus in 3rd. Almost can’t go wrong with any of the modern options. I’m still a hobo using Oly Em1 mk II turning into a skeleton before anything new from them. I’m going to jump ship it’s just a matter of time. Keeping the Em10 O.G. with Panny 20mm F1.7 for pictures and maybe downgrade to a smartphone for video. Would like more reviews on audio gear not sure what to do there. Do you still do beats?
Man, your content is just right on point. Just wishing you to have all this cameras to compare 1 to 1 too, but yeah, thanks for breaking down all the things
i have heard that The pocket 3 does have some overheating issues and I cancelled my order.. I just want a camera that I can carry and shoot indoor and outdoor events 2-3 hours straight and handsfree (maybe with external power) with some stabe and no overheating issues. I dont care about 8k videos or anything like that I just want okay quality (1080p 60fps is fine for most cases).

The Z30's digital stabilization isn't good. The light was so bad, I can't really comment about the IQ. You should actually borrow the R50 or R10 and do an actual comparison.
P. S. - the monochrome at the end actually looked pretty good! You should do that more often.
Was this auto WB? Looks like the Z30 is struggling to figure out the right setting, then finally settling on volcano warmth
Well I was meaning to send an email to see if you wanted to borrow my z30 but I guess I'm a bit late lol
This video auto played right after a markuspix video ranting about how you don’t need all this gear and specs. 😂
The hi hdr mode introduced a little ghosting 🤔
For me the Nikon D7500 is the ultimate APS-C budget camera.
It's a good, rugged camera, just lost in popularity.
Verdict? Save up for the ZV-E1
Previously you mentioned only using FF and 3/4. Who understands you? 😮
At least Canadian dogs look happy. They are fortunate not to know who their Prime Minister is. I have no use for this video but it was a lot of fun.
These "Nikon colors" look nice.
Agreed.
Buy the pocket 3!
you forget the canon M6 mark 2 with EF - EF-M speed booster
my favorite channel
I do love the R7, though. :)
Then your needs have been met decades ago with any camcorder lol.
@@cameraconspiracies they have batterylife for 2 to 3 hour continous filming? Indoor videography might need at least 1 inch sensor?
🗣Sheesh man.... there's an unusual amount of "Foot Traffic" in the neighborhood today ha🤔?? I always appreciate the neighborhood vlogs though 💯🫡 Also, hope you're not in trouble for not noticing your girl in public 🌿👀🌿🤣✌🏾
It looked nice I hate to admit. I take back everything I said about Nikon.
I have the Z30 and 12-28, its good but the pocket 3 just slaps the crap out of it for travel video.
At 2:09 there's a Ghost ASMR appearance. Wow, Nikon, is that you?
Who Has The Best APS-C Camera is the Samsung NX1
What's a "browny" points.
Some of the skin looked over saturated and 🍊especially on a tv vs iPhone for some reason. Nice colors when not glowing orange. It could also be you are jucing to many carrots 🥕
A6700 is a beast.
lately I've been hallucinating that Kasey is a simulated character in Cities Skylines 2, walking through a very badly designed city
Whatever happened to FX30?
R10 does have 10bit but in HDR
iso on / off is so easy - proves you don't nikon much 😊
fx30 is best because i bought it
What was going on with the randomers flicking the V’s? 😂
Fuji has become the Burger King of cameras.
Rule of thirds be damned! Make a video where everything you shoot is based on the Fibonacci sequence.
I want to see Ratboy again!!!!
It's a difficult market. I stay with my S23 Ultra. 😉
You mean PENTAX KF :)
Keep up those man walks!
The r7 has been great, it was between that or the 6700. I have a ton of Canon glass and with the drop in ND adaptor it’s great!
I like it!
