Canon R7: Is That Enough in 2022?

- Canon R7 and R10. Is this going to compete with Fuji XS10 and XT4? What about the looming XH2 and XH2s? Or the lighter Sony ZVE10? Does this confirm EOS M is dead? Will there be any good aps-c RF lenses? Why are these kit lenses so tight and slow? 4k 60p with 1.81x crop?! 2.9x crop is smaller than 1 inch sensor lol.

Yep...more of an ass man
Canons biggest problem is their lens selections for RF, too expensive, too big. They need an f2 of 24mm , 10-20mm f4.
I always thought of the cripple hammer in your videos as sort of Thor's hammer. Will it not just fly back to the hands of Canon after it's done it crippling or when it's left in the woods (and think of all the animals it will cripple after it has been left in the woods).
Hey how come these vegan doesn't reply to anyone on his videos. Damn vegans🥑🍆
You look like Booger from the Revenge of the Nerd movies. Same actor in the movie Risky Business.
I'm here just for the board room meeting 🤣
The silent stare at the beginning always kills me 😂😂
2:31 - Omg YES! Finally ... Footage you found of the Cripple Hammer invading the board room to intimidate an ambitious, new Canon engineer. I knew you had this footage somewhere lol :)
imagine the reach with the RF extendible 800mm prime, you'd be able to see the lizard mens bases on the moon which we never went to.
The moon is too close to focus on for that lens
Oh let me do the math for the Toneh... 11* 3 in the enhanced mode. Toneh 33! All the universe will be in focus nice!
800mm is not that long focal lenght guys, not sure why Casey think otherwise 😄
The R7 has great rolling shutter to recreate famous old-timey warpy pics!
The R7 also has a loud mechanical shutter that mimics a woodpecker - great for attracting wildlife photographers in your area!
The R7 also has crippled video specs so that it can't overheat! Ingenious!
For real though, 32.5mp and Canon autofocus are nice. Might be a good wildlife camera if the mechanical shutter doesn't scare everything away.
‘A loud mechanical shutter that mimics a woodpecker’. Perhaps using the silent electronic shutter might be in order? Here’s another thought. Don’t buy it. Problem of your hating it, solved.
@@frankanderson5012 No need to get salty, I was only praising the Cripple Hammer's work. 😜
@@frankanderson5012 shoot a fast action with the shitty rolling shutter and bam you’re done, warpy birds or people everywhere

R7 sucks ass
I still rock a Canon 7D with Magic lantern: shooting RAW video + timelapses. I was looking forward to this R7 coming out, but I agree with you... not as impressive as I think it should be for video. And those RF-S lenses so far are crazy unappealing (at least spec wise).
You DO realize you can use any of the stellar RF lenses on this camera right? You also realize you can use any EF lens too right? lol. Only amateurs shoot crop lenses on crop cameras. Ive been shooting 18 years and Ive never used a crop lens on any crop sensor Canon.
@@michaelbell75 a compact good rf lens with constant aperture will be nice for traveling. I am very happy about the quality and portability of my m43 system. But will probably get a R7 for the autofocus and better stills capabilities. But would something small like my 12-40 mm F2.8 for the M43.
The Canon board meetings are always some of the funniest shit I've ever seen 🤣🤣🤣
Christopher Frost always left the Canon 32.5mp APS-C sensor from the M6 mkii as the last in his lens tests. That sensor is so brutal even Pro grade EF lenses struggled to deliver. That's the biggest cripple blow.
But this isn’t the same sensor as that. Canon has said dozens of times its a new sensor
@@AndrewKuttor it's about pixel size at that crop and resolution, not the sensor technology, it's much more demanding on lenses
@@PrimalShutter I know about pixel pitch. However, it isn't as easy as just saying the bigger the photo site the better the sensor. There is a lot going on between the sensor and the image you see after capture.
For instance, the R5c and the R5 uses the same sensor, however the R5c gets better dynamic range. Now there is a rumor that the Digic X in the R5c is modified. But it could also be the codecs. Whatever the case, they should get the same exact DR, but they don't.
There are cameras with more megapixels with smaller sensors that outshoot cameras with larger sensors and less megapixels.
Now their pixel pitches are pretty close... the c70 is 6.40um while the R3 is 6.00um.
The C70 with a Super35 outshoots my R3 for instance... now the R3 might be sharper, but the highlight rolloff, the dynamic range, the color depth.. ya know the stuff that matters with video, it does way better on.
Despite the fact the C70 is a super35 sensor and the R3 is a Full-frame.
However, lets walk back a moment and really think about this camera... it's a $1499 camera. First and foremost. That's cheaper than a gh5 mark II, that's cheaper than a Sony a7c. Its made for wildlife, a photography first camera. So for wildlife you would want something that can capture relatively fast, 15fps, that is very sharp, has IBIS, with lots of AF -- this $1499 camera has that,.
@@AndrewKuttor his point was that there are no lenses that can perform well enough in the center to justify an increase in megapixels. Its a demanding sensor since the mpx are centered in the center. You will have to pay thousands on glass to take advantage of this sensor or you'll just be magnifying lens and shooting errors. It's essentially a cripple.
@@burritobrosvideos8060 you are correct about the sensor being more demanding. But the corners would be the most demanding of all (If somehow the sensor was aligned to the extreme corner of the full frame).

@@ThomasGTV are u from Canon
I started out with a Canon T6s. When I went full frame I switched to Nikon and bought a ditto for its low light performance. I now use a z6 ii. One of the reasons why I switched was because Canon cripples their cameras. I do like how Fuji puts everything into their next model without worrying about hiring the sells of a different model. I think Nikon may go that route this time. Imagine if Nikon makes a d750 I too replace the d500 with the same tech that's in the z9. Stacked bsi sensor, no mechanical shutter, 4k video with every option, at least 20 fps. That camera would be a beast. I'm glad Canon came out with the R7 before noon comes out with their version with similar specs. Nikon probably has the best ergonomics followed by Fuji. I haven't looked at a Panasonic yet but I'm sure theirs is good. I think Canon is getting designed by aliens with weird fingers or something.
IMHO, Panasonic has perhaps the best ergos and features. I'd buy nothing but Panasonic if it weren't for the crappy continuous AF.
I'm a former D750/D500 owner shooting Z's and they have lost the ergonomics award. Mostly due to firmware limitations and not saving every function to a user mode. I had the D750 first, and I felt like the D500 was an upgrade to the D750.
My Z7II still doesn't have the responsiveness of my D500. I'm constantly switching an Fn button for metering or subject tracking or whatever. A menu, MyMenu, touchscreen, and buttons that just don't work as well as the physical "pro" layout (D2xx/D3xx/D5xx/D6xx/D7xx/D8xx. 85% of the photos from my Z50/Z7II combo are better than f-mount bodies. AF-C and the firmware just isn't there yet. Neither even have a 1/3 crop grid!
I want a Z6II sensor with IBIS in a D750 body with D500 performance, a fully articulating screen (no FX Nikon has one,) and a pop-up warm LED flash. Had they made this f-mount 3-4 years ago they'd have owned the market IMO.
@@skyrunr you have to remember that Nikon is on their 2nd gen cameras with the z6 II and z7 II. The z9 is probably considered 3rd gen. They recently stated that the next models coming out will have some of the same technology that's in the z9. Will that be stacked sensors? Electronic shutter only? Better tracking? We don't know yet. I think all of the bodies will be back to normal size so they can dissipate heat from using them in video mode. I also believe there will be a mirrorless d500 come out with similar specs as the z9. It'll be cheaper and probably won't do 8k.
@@carlmcneill1139 Yes, I'd be happy with a few decent firmware updates. The glaZZ is unmatched, but super sharp is no good if AF-C isn't there. I want to buy them all, but the beauty of them as I only need 3-4. I don't even shoot video, but I still want an articulating screen. Mostly to flip it over and protect it, or shoot in a crowd over people's heads without disrupting someone's video behind me. A full 90 degrees down would be enough.
@@skyrunr I want a fully articulating screen for when I take landscape pictures down low in portrait orientation. I have a Canon T6s with the flip out screen like that and it works great in those situations. I really think Nikon will be putting them in soon.
He started this video off hilariously pissed with canon😂😆😂😆😂😆
I completely agree with the power switch on the R7 being a mistake having taken the place of the rear top command dial. They should have taken the command dial/power lever from the R10 and put it on the R7. The ergonomics of the R5 and R6 were heading in the right direction from the stupid R’s touchbar and lack of rear aperture wheel, and now this. Hopefully Canon opens up the RF mount or puts out affordable, brighter RF-s glass
On the R7 I can control all of my settings with just the front dial and the rear wheel while looking through the viewfindder in FV mode. Just my finger and thumb. Very simple!
Yeah im also super happy with the controls. Especially as someone who never had a control wheel at the back at all (only entry level APS-C DSLR and the EOS RP yet)
Sometimes i really miss a control wheel but its still doable since the R7 allow pretty much any mapping on the buttons.
I really tried to not like the R7, especially the R10. But the more i realized how bad the EOS RP is for wildlife and video (wasnt considered at all at purchase!) the more i began to think about getting the R7 and soon i liked it. Still the price is too high considering the flaws and missing features like 240fps video.
About time you gave a shoutout to my Blackmagic bois. $1499 for a 90D with two lenses. Literally buy anything else. EOS R is $1499 refurbished right now.
What other APS-C camera has 4K 60p, IBIS, dual card slots, the best AF system on the market and can shoot 15fps mechanical/30 electronic? and all of it for $1,500. I'll wait....
R7 and R10 is fine for most 7D and 90D users. But I have EF-M lenses. 8 tiny lenses. I want at least R10 but smaller and with M mount.
That isn't coming, I'm afraid. Canon have already said their R&D is focused on the RF system. They'll keep making EF-M mount gear because it sells; but they won't develop anything new for that system.
As a 7D user, I can tell you that this is not fine. I was expecting a pro-body, not an updated 90D.
@@ericb8985 what is not pro about the R7? I used the 7Dmk2, some 5D bodies, 6D, R5, 70D, 80D, and I can not spot a huge difference beside the 7D being chunky as 5Dmk3 with the awful dynamic range of the 70D
@@dtibor5903 "Pro" usually includes top-end features. The 7D bodies were all at the top of the game when they were released and therefore offered unique advantages. The R7 has a worse viewfinder and IBIS than the other RF bodies and its sensor doesn't add any low-light performance for wildlife photography. Canon didn't try to create an ASP-C camera with their best technology and that's what doesn't make this a pro camera. Existing bodies can fully replace the R7 which wasn't quite the case for the 7D and 7D II.
I think for video the appeal of the canon r7 is the ability to use cheap ef lenses. sigma 18-35mm f1.8 on the canon r7 with the ef to rf nd adapter means you get.....10bit, IBIS, vari-ND, auto-focus and f1.8 contant aperture for a very low price. I've also seen used ef mount sigma 50-150mm f2.8 lenses for $300
For a very low price? You could buy an a7iii and get all of the features WITH a Full frame sensor for less. What a joke
@@Yupthereitism a7iii is 8bit colour, and fly by wire focus lenses (screw on nd filters). A7iii screen blacks out when using a monitor in 4k (and loses reliable autofocus).
A7iii has a lot of issues for video (and expensive fly by wire lenses). Either spend more and get a sony a7siii, or go cheaper and get a used fuji xt3 (and upgrade to the fuji xh2s down the line).
Edit: or use a canon r7 with the option of moving to blackmagic or canon cinema cameras (canon c200, c300 mkiii). Ef lenses are cheap and great for using manual focus when needed (while also having “ok” autofocus)
I've tried to justify the R7, and cannot. I'm kinda old school and still very content with DSLR.

Crummy evf, crummy screen, crummy weather sealing, removed rear wheel, no native apsc lenses, and old sensor with poor high iso performance.
It will. This is all a bitter rant about what I don't know. All those options are stellar. You're not gonna get the same quality in a R7 that you would an R3 or R5. That's like getting an A7RIII and being upset it doesn't stack up to an A9
I spent the whole video waiting for his girlfriend to come home and see him bolt out the door
One of the strengths of Canon cameras has been ergonomics. All of the prosumer and professional cameras have a predictable layout of controls, menu, and user interface that allow the photographer who uses more than one camera in the field to quickly and easily switch between cameras without missing a beat. The Canon R7 completely changed the predictable layout found on the Canon 7D Mark II, all the 5 series bodies, the 1DX series, and the new layout on the R5 and R6. While the specifications and feature set are really exciting Canon stopped short of true excellence. For example, 30 fps is great but the buffer and comparatively slow memory cards results in a frustratingly short 2-2.5 sec of continuous shooting before the camera starts buffering. For a camera that is aimed at sports and wildlife enthusiast photographers a larger buffer and/or faster storage would better meet the needs of that target market. Oversampled 4K at 24 p but not at 60 p is another example of stopping short of excellence. I wonder whether Canon has plans to produce a more professional level APS camera? That would be greatly welcomed.
The sensor is still pretty slow so you don’t want to shoot with the electronic shutter for moving stuff
Someone quickly handed me a 60D many years ago and I couldn't find the power button. I tried an EOS-R and couldn't stand a dial only being used for power. LOL I found all the little buttons difficult to reach by feel compared to Nikon as well.

I wish a camera company would team up with a smartphone maker. Imagine a camera that you could download apps on. Post photos directly to social media and add new functions and programs to the camera. Basically, an open-source camera combined with a smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy NX was pretty cool
Why? Sounds like great features for an amateur camera. Someone posting pics of their kids playing softball directly to social media. Basically, smartphone stuff. But no pro or serious photographer is going to want to pay for those features. Most photographers I shoot with don't even know how to shoot video on their cameras. Nor do they care. They are photographers, not videographers, and if they were they would buy a serious video camera.

The board meeting was absolutely fantastic. Canon mindset explained. Thanks for setting things straight for me. Lesson: Don't watch those early reviews.

Finally, an honest review ... Of reviews.
Wow that took a turn at the end, what a plot twist. Great video buddy.
You make my day, as usual. I hope to god i never weaken and buy another Canon. Not just because of this video but because i think Canon take amateur photographers for fools. It started with the EOS 650. And has gone on ever since. Now they offer not much for the enthusiast, if you want better then go for the high end stuff with stupidly priced lenses.
Not a BSI sensor - that's a deal beaker... for what I was hoping to be a pro APSc setup, the smaller sensor should have been BSI to extract the best possible image quality. That and 240 FPS in 1080p - then I'd jump on it... but as it is, I'll pass... Long live the cripple hammer...
Please. This thing is going to easily be the best crop sensor camera on the market for the price. No one wants to pay an extra $500+ for a BSI sensor lol. Wait for the top of the line APS-C R camera which Im sure will have it. Go ahead and stupidly pay $3K for it too.
The Fuji X-S10, but you don’t always need BSI to produce great images. The Canon 7D don’t have BSI, neither does the Z5 or D500, and all 3 produce excellent image quality. With Canon’s trademarked dual pixel technology, you don’t need BSI. The R7 also gets AF II technology directly from the R3, which should get you some great shots.
Love your work, CC!
I’m excited to see your review on the secret lightweight Sony camera you already have. 😂😂😂
I am an owner of a R7 who is about to sell it with all the RF, RF-S, EF and EF-S I got to switch to Sony just because of the lack of decent RF-S lenses and superpricey RF L lenses that btw this R7 wouldn't take all the advantage from. It's a pitty, I like the R7 so much, but is all about the lenses and canon has also banned third party manufacturers. Damn, I am so mad at Canon...but you made me laugh so hard with this. why cant you use an rf mount to ef adapter and use ef lenses? i mean i heard ibis performs badly when you do that but. (im thinking of getting a r7)
@@TheGentooGamer ibis performs perfectly fine with the EF adaptar in my experience, not worry for that. The problem is the size, the weight, and of course that you won't take all the advantage of the RF bayonet of the R7 sensor. For me Sony + sigma lenses is the perfect choice right now.
@@ipbsoft ok, good to know. i been getting very mixed reports of ibis not working with ef lenses which is a bit worrying, not sure. id like to get a good hybrid camera (although mainly for youtube video), and yah at the price-point ($1,364.95 on walmart) the r7 has seemed pretty compelling, aside from maybe lens selection. as for weight, lighter would be nice but i already been using full frame EF lenses on my old rebel t3 so cant be that bad. every video i have seen who has given an r7 alternative has been something more expensive or something that isnt water resistant or has a 30 min record limit or smth of that nature (id like to hike with whatever i get)

These cameras almost had me as hyped as I was when I got my first t3i
You can peer into someone's soul with that crop. I like it.
I am bitterly disappointed with this release . I am looking to upgrade my 7D mkii. When it was released it was a pro grade camera and pretty much the pinnacle of aps-c format. It shared the same form factor as the 5D Canon full frame pro body of the day , but had superior burst rate and flagship level auto focus . I was expecting something along the same lines for the R7 , an aps-c R5 if you like .
I lost the bulk of my kit recently in a natural disaster. I am down to a 100-400 zoom and an18-55 kit lens that I never got around to selling . I no longer have the massive investment in canon glass and bodies that once kept me glued to the brand .
I guess I just need to manage my expectations , but canon may have lost me .
If you are stills only... Isn't R7 perfect? No need to get new lens anyway... Grab the adapter/speedbooster and it's all good to go
I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. The Canon 7D Mark II was a far more professional level camera in its day and in the overall Canon product line up than is the current Canon R7. While the new sensor is offers higher resolution, much better auto focus, and all of the benefits of a modern mirrorless camera, I feel that Canon stopped short of developing a true successor to the Canon 7D Mark II. I can only hope that there are plans to release a more professionally oriented APS camera. I, too, have a massive investment in Canon lenses and multiple bodies. So, it would be prohibitively expensive to switch to Sony or to Nikon.
@@VABrowneMDPhD I suggest you guys watch previews of guys who have actually used the camera. It's 33 meglixels, has IBIS, solid body with the R3's autofocus on tracking! For $1500, what's not to like? 4K60 is plenty. Definitely need more affordable RF lenses but it sounds good to me.

Love your video as always. Still, interesting how opinions can differ. For me, the R7 is the camera that finally pulls me into mirrorless. Precisely what I’ve been waiting for. Sure, it might suck in practice, but it’s the first camera in ages I’m actually excited about.
Pre-order is a mistake regardless, R7 we know nothing of its rolling shutter, no one has properly tested the RAW photo output, the video mode is a miss and hit, good 4k 25fps, but really mediocre everything else.
No one has properly tested the IBIS on this camera, nor battery life or ISO performance, Canon claims the 32,5MP sensor is "new" but is it really? Again, no one has tested that, so you are buying by feelings, not by logic.
I suggest reconsider, if you are mianly into photography, you should stop looking for new cameras because cameras from 2014 already shoot just as good pictures as cameras of 2022. Its mainly IBIS and video thats been the biggest upgrades past 8 years.
@@SMGJohn Yeah you're not wrong. I never really preorder anything. I'd have to see raw performance, particularly high iso. I'm not expecting it to be on par with current FF cameras (nor do I need it to be) but Canon is weird and I need it to be at least as good as the 90D. And yes, video...I'm honestly not bothered at all by the apsc-crop but I need the oversampled 4K @30fps to look great. We'll see. But I'm kind of hopeful for some reason I don't understand :)

Yes but Canon could have underclocked the processor to save battery, sensor is also not backlit illuminated so that already means its not as fast readout as R5 is but of a slower type, 90D had pretty bad rolling shutter compared to Sony or Fuji APS-C
I hear rumours of new Sony apsc lenses meaning Sony have yet to abandon the APSC line. Hopefully they bring out a camera with a stacked sensor to reduce the horrible rolling shutter.
Y would sony abandon its apsc? Its one of their best seller line up. Its just sony doesnt focus on apsc. Most of their resource is spent on ff
Bang on. It will be a 24MP stacked sensor video focused camera with no rolling shutter for the 'tube. It's not looking good for the Sony APS-C flagship at 32 or 40MP that I am waiting for, as Sony is probably selling those sensors to Fuj for the XH2.
My good sir first let me say you are entertaining. Now let's continue...this video proves that old age is hitting. I think R7 is a good camera though it won't shoot all-I in 4k 60p, it also has no recording limit. Its autofocus is better than any Fuji camera right now. Fuji XH-2 has a really tough competition.
Fuji is better now
@@Yupthereitism I don't know man. XH 2S looks like a very good lighter BMPCC6K camera without B Raw but with still unreliable autofocus. I mean I wanted to like that camera so much but that just one thing destroys my prospects.

Very refreshing insights 😀. Hilarious. Thanks
"Unless its a bigfoot" Words to live by.
It's not gonna blow you away because consumer cameras are more than enough now. Just focus on improving your abilities and skills. If you're gonna vlog only on your neighborhood, then your ceiling of improvement will be very low.
Aerial photographer here. I currently run a 90D. I think I’m gonna try the R7. I like the sensor stab and 15/30 fps rates. The joystick/wheel thing is really strange but I’m willing to forego judgement until I use it. I’d prefer if it were physically larger. I like having some hunk to hold on to when shooting through the removed door of a fast moving copter or plane
When I buy in a few weeks I’ll be sure to use your link!
If this is a true 7D replacement, they may yet offer a proper battery grip for it.
I don’t think that joystick wheel is a dumb idea , my 5ds have a wheel lower down and I love it , with this I don’t have to move my thumb from the joystick to the wheel so it’s one less step . Although have to try it first to see if I like it . Sure it’s really ugly but it’s not like it’s a sexy camera to begin with
I will get the R7 for my beautiful 100-400 II, I also hope Viltrox will release their 13mm 1.4 to R mount.
Damn my man Derek might not be okay after that hammer hit
Canon's is trying to make up for the lackluster ef-m line. Stick with full frame Canon. If you want APS-C go Fuji or Sony. Excellent lenses from Fufjifilm and great video options from Sony.
Sony APS-C is pretty ass. Some decent lenses but the actual cameras are not very good. Terrible IBIS and bad noise handling above 1600 ISO.
Don't buy half-arsed cameras. They are just there to rake in money for the R&D. Go for the next iteration. The R10 is over £1000 with a lens for a pretty basic camera. That's a £500 camera.
12:12 - Yes and no. Yes, the super crops magnify everything including heat distortion. But ... if your critter is like 15 feet away and you want a close up, the extra crop can produce magical footage, like what I did here at 1 minute into this video: th-cam.com/video/iIJb78SleKo/w-d-xo.html - Video Enhance AI Proteus v3 model will then remove all signs of a tiny sensor look (it didn't look bad to be fair) and upscale the 1080p slow motion to 4K with temporally coherent detail recovery. 180 degree shutter angle too, of course. No one cares, they don't see the value in such a technique even though the results are impressive.
Biggest cripple hammer 🔨 is they weather sealed the R7 , because they know it’s going outdoors! And then the sensor specific RF-s lenses aren’t weather sealed? WTF 🤬
I would have liked a APS-C camera to add to my R6 however I would have liked to see the R7 with the same layout as the R6. Someone needs to destroy that cripple hammer.
Why? Does the Sony APS-C cameras have the same layout as the full frame? Does the Nikon Z50 have the same layout as the Z7/9? Every manufacturer does this...
You get what you pay for. If you can get the same camera for 1500.00 as you can for 2500.00 or 3800.00, why by those? No one says a base model car is "crippled" because it doesn't have the features of a top of the line car. That's silly. This looks like a great wildlife camera.
@@alansach8437 what $2500 or $3800 camera does this compete with? It’s not on the same level as the R6 or anywhere close to the R5
@@alansach8437 what a load of shite.
Canon in their professional line up have always kept a very similar layout from the 1D to the 7D.
Canon know they have multi-disciplin shooters and being able to switch between bodies with ease is essential.
As for your analogy of car models you do not expect different trim of the same model to have controls in different places. You sound like a Canon fan boy trying to defend them rather than looking at it objectively.
I would like to be shooting portraits or landscapes with my R6 and then be able to pick up a R7 for wildlife and without thinking know where all the controls are. Is that really that difficult to grasp. Surely it would keep production costs down too if they shared the body.
If they were looking to dumb down the camera why give it 30fps?
@@michaelbell75 Canon have historically kept the controls very similar across their XD range why should the R range be any different?
Smoked up again today aeeee love it..
So... are you ever gonna challenge Jared P's realm of awkward tight t-shirts and semi bulging guns?
Hilarious 😂 “I’m more of an Ass man” 🤣
I discovered your channel today, kind of liked your intelligent humour on other videos and was about to subscribe then I saw this. It could even be true that the R7 will be shitty, we have to really wait for the good reviews to know for sure, but the way you presented it was completely biased against Canon (I just hope it's not for being a sony fanboy), you could have made the criticism all you wanted but at least referring that it actually has very good qualities would be more indicating that you know what you were talking about / doing an impartial review.
Canon finally removed the 30 min video limit (that is present on the R5), the XT4 has a 20 min limit on 4k24p, the canon autofocus absolutely devastates the fuji one (which in the era of gymbals is more important than most other features), better color science, way better lens access (therefore price), okay it doesn't do HD240p, but who cares about HD in 2022?!
Now competing with the sony e-10 (i won't even bother to go against cameras without the popping out screen), IBIS, better screen, 10 bit c-log3 (vs 8 bit), 4k60p no crop (ofc we still have to check the quality, but having that base slomo is a must) - even the fucking holy grail A7iv only does 4k60p on aps-c crop, the sony only wins on the lens range (specially because of sigma and tamron). Extras: you can use a speedbooster, thus getting closer to the full frame or an EF adapter with nd filter built-in for the cinema camera experience.
Nice intro. I started laughing before you said a word.
Did you have planned your next One Man Show Tour already ? Because I'm gonna book them all ! 😁
32.5 MP on apsc seems pretty demanding for the lenses, I think you'll need some high-quality lenses to maximise the resolution.
How about a.. f/4.5-6.3 18-45mm? Yeah we knew you'd like that!
I think a lot of R7s will be sold as backup cameras to people who already have RF glass. I wouldn't mind trying the 24-105 f/4 L on an R7.
@@RhettAnderson you understand that's a 40-150 5,6 equivalent lens on an ASP-C?
@@ChaplainDMK 38-168 on a Canon 1.6x crop, but yeah. Would make it feel like a short tele. Sounds fun.
Who will be the first to strap a $3K RF 100-500 on a $1,500 body?
I use Canon M50 and I like canon colours and ease of use but I am blown away with Sony cameras specs. R7 interesting but what lens to use? F4 costs over£1500 and f2 over £3000. Who can justify that? What lenses for TH-camrs or social media content creators?
Use a speedbooster (ef to rf) and check sigma lenses. That's what I'm doing 🔥
@@jordanmiranda8038 where did you preorder your R7?
Trust me I still use a Canon 6D and it rocks!
The one thing I thought looked good was the bird in flight tracking. Shamefully, I watched froknows preview, and he tracked Canadian geese I think through trees in a 360 degree arc, and it performed incredibly well. That is the only real selling point for these cameras, and all it is, is that digic processor. That’s it. If the X-H2/s has autofocus that is even nearly on that level then Canon is floating in the water like a stale turd when it comes to aps-c.
Watching fro is acceptable as long as you mute the audio. Then you don't have to listen to his attempts to have a "signature attitude" or whatever his excuse is.
LOL. Panasonic AF is straight garbage. You've clearly never even touched a Canon R3 much less used one. It has the best AF on the market and the same AF system is in the $1500 R7. Try again.
I want to see an X-H2 Vs R7 comparison before I put my order in .
@@michaelbell75 what does Panasonic or the R3 have to do with anything?
@@michaelbell75 have you had a chance to compare R3 to Sony A1 hands on? It seems those are considered the top 2 these days.
This guy is Epic my new favorite got me cracking up
I when the crippling feature of the R7 is the low Res EVF !
Low Res back screen is ok, but tye EVF for sports and wildlife zooming at distance,..really Canon !
Glad you combed your hair for this
thanks , was waiting this professional review from professional wild life videographer
If you increase the distance for the object you will have more disturbance in the light you receive in the sensor.
Is like looking at the star and planets in the sky. The light of the star in the sky is sparkling compared to the planets and this happens because of the distance of the object to the subject.
And the amount of the gases the light needs to pass makes the focal point not precise, so the image will look bad.
And the gases become more agitated with the heat, it's like looking on the highway and seeing the heatwave.
yeah, I'm so disappointed with far away objects even though my lens reaches to them, they are all foggy, blurry and uninspiring. Landscape shots at max zoom are the worst, often the camera can't even focus on distant foggy mountains at all and manually it's impossible to tell whether you're in focus or it's just heat waves and fatamorgana
What camera are you talking about? You left out pertinent information.
@@AllThingsFilm1 it doesn't matter. Fuji, Canon, Sony - it works the same
I think I'm actually glad the R7 has ipb and ipb light
Damn. 2070mm?!? Almost able to see the heat death of the universe
Two in one day? Flat earth is real.
A third and the universe is.
I have a 5d iv im thinking switching to R7 to get ibis and autofocus and some other good stuff meh i mean u could put a speed booster on it's close enough to full frame use a tamron g2 24-70 f2.8 maybe it will be 27-80 mill f2.0 equivalent with speedbooster probably its a little noisyer then full frame yeah well what do u think ? should i do it am i crazy or i don't know what im taking about here ?!
