So, whyd the cops stop you? You didn't even explain.

    • @JawTooth

They thought I looked suspicious with out of state plates and listening to a train on a scanner. They were a couple of morons who didn't have a clue about the First Amendment or any other rights that we have. That was the Kenton County Police Department in Kentucky. The two moron cops were Trevor Rohe and Gary Helton. Both of them were complete buffoons and I made written complaints on both of them, I talked at their merit board meeting and talked on local cable television in Kentucky to let people know what kind of stupid cops they have. The cowards never even apologized to me when they found out that I didn't break any laws. My faith and trust in law enforcement is gone.

In a city near where I live called Hubbard Ohio there is a set of railroad tracks. One time the train was stopped there for 6 hours impeding traffic simply because the railroad company has a rule that a locomotive conductor is only allowed so much time on the tracks. When the conductor's time ran out he had to stop the train and wait for another conductor to come aboard and take over the train operations.

Yes, that was Lac Megantic. There were about 47 people killed and some of them were burned so bad that they never found them. I have another video with some close calls of people pulling out in front of the train as it goes down the middle of the road in a different city, LaGrange Kentucky. You should see that one if you have the time. anyway, thanks for watching my video and please Subscribe!!

Awesome video, Jaw Tooth. The kid on the bike didn't beat the train by much! It's quite a thing the way the train goes right through a developed part of a city. Of course, as others here have said, the tracks were probably there first. No way the tracks could have been put in after things were all built up. Great job, Jaw Tooth. You really do have a fine talent for making films like this. Jim

NS runs 4 trains a day through this part. 2 in the day hours and 2 during the night. This train is heading out of the Augusta yard heading to Andrews yard in Columbia,SC. These tank cars are nothing NS also pulls a unit ethanol train into Augusta to Nixon yard down by the airport. The unit ethanol train is E33 it originate in Peoria,Il

I know of about 30 to 40 places where freight trains run down the middle of the street in the US. I have a playlist showing some of the street running trains that I have filmed. If you have time, check out my 2nd most popular video. It shows another city with long street running trains and I think you will like it. Most of the street running railroads only get a few trains a week or so. The track in this video however, is verybusy and I filmed 2 trains on it in 5 hours. I guess they get to ignore red lights and stop signs! I have seen quite a few of your street running videos, and I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around the concept. I imagine the engineer looking for a parking spot, and then parallel parking that sumbitch, or stopping the train to run in for some groceries. What about people who get stuck, parked on one side while they go to a shop on the other side, only to come out to see two miles of a solid steel wall between them and their car?

I was questioned by police once for photographing on an overpass above a train line because someone thought I was photographing power pants for terroristic reasons. The officer really didn't feel like being there in the first place and found the entire call to respond pointless but he did it anyway.

You were filming on 6th and Broad in downtown Augusta. The line you are filming is the (Norfolk Southern R Line) on the (NS Columbia District Subdivision) This line will cross the (CSX Monroe Subdivision) on the northeast side of Chester SC between Parkway Drive [716002U] and [861025W] a private road next to Masters Recycling at 515 Saluda Rd. in Chester.
    The subdivision continues south into Columbia SC. on its way to Augusta Georgia. As it crosses over the Savannah Rive trestle north of Reynolds St. the crossings down 6th Street are as follows;
    Reynolds [864837M]
    Broad Street/BUS-25 [864838U]
    Ellis Street [864839B]
    Green Street/GA-28 [864840V]
    Telfair Street [864841C]
    Walker Street [864842J]
    Watkins Street [864843R]
    Fenwick Street [864844X]
This subdivision will merge with (CSX McCormick Subdivision) and will become the (CSX Augusta Subdivision) under Walton Way. This track will exit off of 6th Street at Taylor [864846L]

I want to get back down there and film some more. When I was there, the Masters golf tournament was going on. The Ramada Inn has a view of the street runners. I tried to get a room there. It was $350 a night because of the golf tournament but the rude manager wouldn't even tell me if the room faced the railroad. He was busy flirting with a girl who worked there so I just left. I want to film down at the Fenwick end of the street when I return. The NS Officer Car Special was there also and I got some video of it.

Bummer on the Ramada Inn. $350 a night is quite steep.

Why would the RR run their line right through the middle of the road in a town like that? I live near LaGrange, KY, so I've seen this type of thing first hand. I just don't understand why this kind of thing would be done. Please answer if you can explain. I'm kinda thick-headed, but I just don't understand. Thank you! Love your video's, Jaw Tooth!

I know you want JT to answer, but have you consider that the tracks were there long before the streets were built and the town was built up around the tracks in this manner before they're was so many cars?
It was way more common 70 years ago for tracks to be in the middle of the roads, but like you said it doesn't make any sense and most of these tracks have been lifted. So they aren't many areas you can visit to see train street running train.
While this is inconvenient for drivers. It's more inconvenient for the railroads since the cars are in it's way. Just think about that for a moment and try to think about from that perspective.
      Anyways have any nice day!!

How often do these trains run through the street ?

I don't know but we saw 2 trains in 6 hours. I wanted to stay at the Ramada Inn next to the tracks to see how many use it but they tripled the price of staying there because there was a golf tournament going on. ( The guy at the counter was rude anyway ). Thanks for watching!

Hey, wait a minute. Were you filming the train or the young lady standing on the corner? Oh, where did she go? She disappeared! Nope, she took the long way around. And there she goes again. Cool video! Never seen a street runner stop before. Maybe a car got in the way up ahead or something. Cheers, Dan
