    Great vlog and a lovely looking bike. Superb paint job, especially the fairing. Well done on taking it to the strip and salt flats.

    Great to have a bike with all that history. Paint for the full bike was quite reasonable I think. Total Cost, well what price do you put on your satisfaction from all the things you have done with the bike, all those many miles of pleasure, the places it has taken you to, and Memories money just can't buy. Absolute bargain I would say. Cheers

      Absolutely correct! It was and is fun to take a bike that is not be cut out to do what I did with it.

      In 2021 we were out on the Bonneville Salt Flats racing my Thruxton R (see videos) and one my pit crew rode about 10 feet off the tarp and dropped the bike and broke some fairing mounts....I know it hurts.

    You've had that bike the same amount of time as I've had my MT10. I've clocked 30,000 miles, but I've only one other machine to ride. Riding the salt looks a special experience

    • @flatcapcaferacer
      @flatcapcaferacer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Riding on the salt is addicting. I ride about 7000 miles a year but it is spread out among four or five bikes.

    This was a terrific video. I have a really nice Zard exhaust on mine, and have been thinking about de-cat and maybe a cam. Have a question about the ECU: I'm ignorant on this, so if this is dumb, my apologies. The bike has an auto remap program, as you know. Wondering why an aftermarket ECU would be necessary. If it is, would it benefit from a power commander? Would the difference between those options be worth it, performance-wise?
    Really liking this channel and hope you don't mind me picking your brain.

    • @flatcapcaferacer
      @flatcapcaferacer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The zard is a great choice. If you go with a to cam you will definitely need either a power commander with a Dyno tune or a dnktune for the ECU. I tried both and think the DNKtune for the ECU is better.

      I found it on my old channel. When I put it painted red from the previous Thruxton my eight year old grandson looked at it on my silver Thruxton R and said "quite frankly granddaddy I'm not that impressed." That is why I changed the color for the Thruxton R.

    Great video on long term ownership... not just putt-putting around the block either... didn't realize how well you snick thru the gears w/o a quick shifter ..at least I don't believe you have a QS on the Thruxton.. I've owned a load of motorcycles like most.. from Rupp 80 to ZX-11, CBRXX, ZXR1200R. Ducati, purchased my 1st TRIUMPH back in 2013, '05 Daytona 955i for $3,500 had 6,800 miles 'mint' w/ a charging issue ...w/ the intention of 'flipping' it for profit..as then they were valued at $4,800-5,500..ended up keeping it after 1 ride. Runs great, parts are inexpensive. and that triple 'howl' w/ a OEM TOR hi-level exhaust. I had no idea Triumph built such a great road going sportbike .. that said there's something about owning a finicky tantrum throwing Ducati w/ a dry clutch .....

      Thanks Carl . Right no quick shifter. I have never owned a Ducati but I like some of the older classic models.
