I saw AC/DC twice in the summer of ‘79. In June they were the backup band for UFO and blew them off the stage. Angus went through the audience playing his guitar and also pop the moon on stage. It was awesome. I saw them again in August and they were the headliner. Prior to their first performance I’d only heard them on underground or college radio.

Definitely. I’ve grown up through the 80s listening to them. They are the soundtrack to my life. But Bon was the man with the material - the lyrics. He gave them the AC/DC image and Angus said that himself. With Bon you had not only great music by Mal and Angus, but great witty lyrics that told a, often hilarious, sometimes sad and lonely, story which made the songs _that_ much bigger, better and epic sounding.

No disrepect to Brian, but I was spoiled by Bon. I obtained a bootleg copy of "Let There Be Rock" before it was released in the U.S., and Bon and Angus turned me into an immediate, hard core fan. Bon was absolutely unique, and it hit me hard when he died. When AC/DC reappeared with Brian and "Back in Black", I was devastated by the vocals, and how much AC/DC sounded so different. I'm still a huge fan, but will always continue to miss Bon. I was fortunate to have seen him live approx. 6 months before he died.

The experts in this documentary talk a lot about the (alleged) simplicity of AC/DCs music. Let's assume for a moment that this statement would be right: Have you ever heard a good cover version of an AC/DC-song? I haven't. If AC/DCs music was so simple you would hear a lot of copycats all around the world. But nearly nobody dares to play their songs because it would be musical suicide. AC/DCs music may not be very complex but it is nearly impossible to copy: They seem to play "dirty", but if you listen well enough you realise how exact they play. This precision combined with their furious energy is everything but simple. It's perfection.
Actually music is the opposite, the easier stuff to play is that hardest stuff to copy cause theres nowhere to hide. The more there is going on the easier to hide your lack of talent it becomes. Simple 3 chord rock is the hardest stuff to get right and make sound like them.
The lads played all power chords never any minors, but they invented their own intonations, that's why you can't get the right exact sound...in short Malcolm was a genius...and little brother swung off him..!!...very fkn well....!!!...

18:23 The first album Cliff played on was powerage in 1978. He joined them in may 1977 on their let there be rock tour, but he did not play bass on that album. Mark Evans was still the bassist on the album.
@willemsikkema3604 Why does it say Mark Evans as bassist then? At least it does on the copy I own. Not saying you are wrong! But on the album I own, Mark Evans is written as the bassist.
@ It most definitely wasn’t Mark Evans because he was out of the band after Let there be rock. Cliff Williams is mentioned as the bassist but it is said that George and Malcolm Young played the bass parts on Powerage.
@@willemsikkema3604 Can I ask where you have heard that? Again, not saying you are wrong! Just curios😊 And do you know why they didn't write the correct bassist? On powerage, Cliff himself says that he recorded bass. Just curios as to why they would lie, if that wasn't true.
@ I ‘ve read multiple biographies on the band. It had something to do with a residence permit I believe. I guess it can be found on the internet also. But hey, I wasn’t there so I’m not sure either 😅

They played in a pub in Melbourne very early 1975. That’s where I first saw them. I was also in a band that did many of the same gigs and sometimes on the same bill. They just got better.
We r Privileged here in N.Z. Have a Beep good cover band. Vocalist Italian. But, this band, listen when live, listen when dead. Will be in my head. Moneytalks 91, NZ. They perhaps like Stones, will be imortalised. I only have 4 bands. :)
Great live footage, but the commentary is so bad and usually misinformed. Better AC/DC docs are available right here on TH-cam where they interview actual fans. Hopefully some of these hacks have read a book or two in the last 20 years.
Bassist Mark Evans played on the original Australian 1977 Let There Be Rock released album . Then the band , due to a fall out, brought in Cliff williams. It is a fact and, I want to get that out there. Cheers
But had Bon still been around in 1980 for Back in Black ............ How would back in black sound with Bon. I think the album came strong because it is rock solid with the right sound right hooks right lyrics, right feel, even right album cover. Like,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,. It needed no picture because the mucis speaks for itself. Imo, the 2 Best ac/dc albums ever made were Highway to Hell & Back in Black. Both were packed from start to finish with zero filler, imo

The easy way Bon sang and projected his voice and movement was so effortless without having to force it unlike Brian who, no disrespect, had to try very hard and still not succeeding Bon's natuaral ability suited to the whole band's sound and style. Back In Black is a bloody good album but that's where I ended my enthusiasm for any future listening and live performance of the band.
First saw AC/DC at the 1984 Monsters of Rock with two other great bands YTT and Accept. Other than that Gary Moore and Ozzie were great but I thought Van Halen were shit and knew Motley Crue would be
Who is that woman at the 23 min mark to judge if the bands lyrics were "dodgy" or not "for their times" or not? And isn't she really only saying it's ok due to how just great ac/dc are? Again, who is she to judge and why do the producers of this video virtue signal to this normalizing of moralizing fellow citizens using their born into higher moral ground demographic group? I mean, it's "great that it's ok with her." At least these all time greats get the A-OK from this gal they had on.
Sadly, it was Bon's rebellious, arrogant, fist in the face of a Holy God that brought him to a sad demise. However, it was Malcolm who sold the souls of the band.....and brought forth the demonic anointing, the annointing of the devil.
Colin Hay of "Men at Work" is the perfect replacement 4 BrianJohnson 10 times better than Axle Rose reason being Colin Hay is Bon Scott the former lead singer of ACDC! ACDC fans are in for a shock! Bon Scott is alive and well. He is Colin Hay of "Men at Work" Because is it coincidental that they are both Aussies with Ancestral Roots to Scottland??? " The reason why he wanted out! The long time away on tour from his family and the demands of being on the road was more than he could take! He wanted to make music on his own terms and likewise to go on tour at his own conveinience! The song "Back in Black" was his resignation to move away from the spotlight! The lyrics were his signature resignation and the clue to how he would depart from the Band! "Back in black I hit the Sack! (Bon Scott was referring to how he would be supposedly found dead whlile he was asleep! and leaving the Spotlight by slowly fading to the darkness of returning back to a life of normacy away from the bright lights! "I have got nine lives! (He is referring to how he survived many dangerous events a Bike accident, alcoholisn and how he was going to reinvent himself!) "I have got "Cats eyes" (This is a important clue that he has successfully changed his identity! And the only way you would ever know its him if you ever saw him again is He had this rare "eye condition" that looked like how a Cat looks around because they would operarate independently of each other and moving in different directions! Now some people may say wait a minute they have different Birth dates! This is a common practice when hiding ones true identity together with a change of hairstyles! But I think he still played a active role in the Band with ACDC as a "Ghost Writer" because every song that ACDC sang after Bon Scotts supposed death sounded like he still had his "trait mark signature" on all of ACDC's songs! So its up to Colin Hay of "Men at Work" if he wants to come out "the darkness" of "Back in Black" to the Spotlight" to hey MTF's guess whose back from a "Back in Black" hyatus! And is there any photos of Bon Scott in a Coffin in a funeral service?? And how many photos does Colin Hay have of himself in his earlier years with him and his family??? The same goes for Morgan Freeman who is actually "Jimi Hendrix" and "Lady Gaga" who is actually "Amy Winehouse! And is it coincidental that all three just happen to burst on the Social Scene shortly after the supposed passing of these legendary "Musical Icons????? Can you imagine if all three decided to tour together. And their Band name would be called "Grievance Clean Detox Revival??? Sincerely, Patrick S.N. Iriarte "Nostradamus of the Marianas"
Very interesting, I have not heard this concept before. One thought, how do you suppose Bon Scott at 5’8” became Colin Hay at 6’4” purely from a height perspective?

Had the luck to meet Bon in June ‘79. Sadly I had no film left in my camera to get a picture but got great shots of their show.
Totally amazing... simple music that rocked your sox off...
One doc I haven’t seen. Pretty Killer. Good stuff 🤘
👍🇸🇪
Brian you did ok son! I could not imagine taking over a band at that time! it must have been hard. you proved the critics wrong! well you know you had Bon in your corner! We should all be a little mad at Bon. His excess showed He must have been afraid of the future! God Rest his soul. You would have only been huge!
Bon Scott war ein genialer Sänger
Saw them in The Houston Music Hall in 1979. Molly Hatchet opened. Great show in a performance hall that sat about 4,000.
They had AMAZING energy!!!!
Great documentary
❤ rock n roll gods ❤ 🤓🙋♂️👍
Éternel bon scott😭😭😭
AC/DC are rock n roll not rock! Simply the greatest rock n roll band!
Flick Of The Switch was recorded with Phil Rudd. Although he got sacked during the recording, they had essentially recorded all the tracks with Rudd from what I’ve read
AC/DC helt Konger 🎉🔥🔥🔥🖤
When I was a teenager I would walk up to this little bar and shoot pool and I would play "you shook me all night long" and I would kick butt on the table, a teenager up against grown men some of them weren't very nice after getting there butt whooped, that song gave me energy it is just a great song
Back in the early 80s AC/DC was the only band i felt like i was going to hell for listening to them lol
For ever ❤🎸🎸🎶♥️
Great live footage, but the commentary is so bad and usually misinformed. Better AC/DC docs are available right here on TH-cam where they interview actual fans. Hopefully some of these hacks have read a book or two in the last 20 years.
flick of the switch is an awesome album!
Me encanto el reportageue fue hermoso recordar m is inicios en el rock
A great Rock introducing the Rock greats.
Flick of the switch was one of their best in my opinion !
Well Malcolm young is a. Never before master of riffs. Well Richie an Eddie then Kurt. They never would admit he influincef them at all rip mel
Well, no problem with me if AC/AD wants to record an album so they can hit the stage !!!! WHy not !!! THey are, well were, having a frigin blast !!!
Phil Rudd was not in the Coloured ball. His previous band prior AC/DC was Buster brown.
Bassist Mark Evans played on the original Australian 1977 Let There Be Rock released album . Then the band , due to a fall out, brought in Cliff williams. It is a fact and, I want to get that out there. Cheers
Their songs are all the same, all great.
Bon the Greatest ever
impeccable ! on va tout démonter :) T inquietes on va mettre un beauy traceur sur tout ce que je clique mdr
A good band, is better live, than the album. Imagine that. I went to the circus for, but yes. Just something always unique there.
Back in Black had Bon Scott's signature all over it & why it was such a success !
The women Hosting narrating this segment looks a lot like a young version of Bon’s wife Irene.
This is fantstic rock rebel 's stig together in Bon's gang woah this is good story and is nice look them just a Rock' n'roll 🏴🤕👀
i think some bright colors on the album cover might have helped flick of the switch.
Every one should own a Gibson SG and a Gretsch twin jet.
I believe Mal played a Gretsch White Falcon, but I could definitely be wrong.
@@Dogheadj he did in the early days occasionally. His most used and most iconic is the twin jet.
@@DogheadjMalcolm prominently played the Gretsch White Falcon during the Back In Black era, but seems to have played his sanded down Gretsch Jet Firebird(s) more often through the band’s history
Are you buying?..😂😅😂😅
@@robbasso893I heard a roadie tampered with it & Mal didn’t like what they’d done, so he ditched it. Although he had another one in 2010, when I saw them in Brisbane; he played it during High Voltage.
Only Hackney Diamonds has become a huge hit and new and quality. ACDC have great history as a iconic rock band and maybe they have a Sydney diamond Opera House in them,
Just cannot beat BON!
No disrespect to Brian
12:54 Well... that's an interesting statement 😅
❤❤❤👍👍👍
Я слушаю АС /ДС с 15 лет мне сейчас 54 .Да будет рок да будет АС/ДС .👍
i know alot of pll thought flick of the switch was a bad albumn but i liked it as for fly on the wall i regret buying it total waste of my money but besides that they ranked higher than led zeppelin as the greatest rock band of all time in record sales way to go AC/DC!
Notice there's no phones everywhere?....this was when things were real
Ac/dc the best band ever .....Aussie Blake
The easy way Bon sang and projected his voice and movement was so effortless without having to force it unlike Brian who, no disrespect, had to try very hard and still not succeeding Bon's natuaral ability suited to the whole band's sound and style. Back In Black is a bloody good album but that's where I ended my enthusiasm for any future listening and live performance of the band.
Sharon O'Connell: "Bon Scott was a brilliant front person, quite feminine...."
He was a brilliant frontman. And you, girl, have no idea...
Bon was high voltage
WTF, every 5 minutes ads in this video. It's even wors than TV
Bon was Alex Harvey’s little brother
skipped right over Powerage
Nothing offensive about Whole Lotta Rosie. He’s declaring his love for love handles!
She can't even get it right, it was the eldest sister who saw the symbol AC - DC on her sewing machine and suggested it to the bassist brother.
Pure garbage when they didn't even mention the anthemic Thunderstruck. I get it, not my favorite & sure hell overplayed but c'mon WTF?
Cheesy doc
Anybody cAn do this….you sing tharpt hi night after night…
Angus said about Bon . he.s our notorious leader of a bag of vagabons and thieves
People in this doc having their facts wrong is crazy…that bloke sayin’ HTH came out in 78? …fs.
I was told bon was a great guy
Especially now the audio is pure, Zzz.
Brian is good but no Bon.
How could he be? At least he's amazing and keeps it's going
70s were kinda live musically?? What
Per me gli AC/Dc sono solo Bon Scott. Il dopo non esiste 😅
Flick of the switch, a ”rubbish” album, W.T.F??????
@@DavyDredd14 👍🙏❤️🇸🇪
What is that BS about Bonn having Feline movements? Ping off. Bon had incredible stage presence.
I think she was referring to his cat like moves, Tom cat that is !
(He is referring to how he survived many dangerous events a Bike accident, alcoholisn and how he was going to reinvent himself!)
"I have got "Cats eyes" (This is a important clue that he has successfully changed his identity!
But I think he still played a active role in the Band with ACDC as a "Ghost Writer"
because every song that ACDC sang after Bon Scotts supposed death sounded like he still had his "trait mark signature" on all of ACDC's songs!
Sincerely,
Patrick S.N. Iriarte
"Nostradamus of the Marianas"
Very interesting, I have not heard this concept before. One thought, how do you suppose Bon Scott at 5’8” became Colin Hay at 6’4” purely from a height perspective?
it a bit early in the day for drinking? 😂
You've lost the plot, but carry on deluding yourself if it makes you happy !
I miss Bon voice. Not because of Brian is not good, but it’s without charm.
It had no edge, which Bon Scott had in spades.
❤❤❤ for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son whosoever believe in him 😮😮
Should not parrish
Jesus Christ has no Joy in the death of the sinner
Jesus Christ is calling for the sinner man to repent
And give his
Life to him 💓
Jesus said
That the sinner man has no life in him
The warth. Of. God stays on him
Jesus Christ is love and will love you and can forgive
Your sinns

Music critics don’t know shite 💩
Bon Scott was amazing, one of my fav vocalists! Brian Johnson is absolutely terrible, I can’t even listen to AC/DC with that guy screeching, because it sure the hell isn’t singing!
He sounds like Mickey Mouse Singing out of his Arse.
Agreed.
I try to write great SInger lyricks and show give me the map to the Promised land soon I will game 'ere
52:00 This fuq has no idea what hes talking about
I tried listening to Flick of the Switch once or twice and couldn't make it through the third song it was that bad. How did they lose the magic of BIB so soon. It does make you wonder
Mutt Lang
I bought the next 3 or 4 albums thinking it was gonna be BIB.
But each one was kinda flat
Saw them in concert on their
Blow up your Video tour
It was stand up fist pump the entire show good
