    We can see John is really mad at Sherlock because he DID punch him in his nose and teeth this time.

      I'm sure he does, actually. I think he's taking his lumps as a sort of penance and simply doesn't want to make a mess in the process. At least, that's what I would do.

      It’s been stated that if it isn’t relevant to his work then he’ll do his best to forget it. In the books even, he was told by Watson that the earth revolves around the sun and he literally went “Now that I have learnt this information, I shall do my best to forget it.”

    I hate how every other character infantilizes John's reaction to Sherlock. He pretended for years that he was dead. This clearly shook John emotionally, and then right as he is managing to move beyond what Sherlock's "death" did to him, Sherlock comes back, and demands his help because "John doesn't have a life outside of [him]". He can't even be bothered to be less abrasive than he usually is, and everyone else in the series laughs it off and seems to think that John is being unreasonable. I don't like it.

    • @JDog2656
      @JDog2656 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Probably because they weren't 100% confident he was dead. Also the fact he might pull something like this if the need arose. Like that guy Marvin in Red who fakes his death a bunch of times.

      @ianschmutzler8177 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@JDog2656 If you find someones corpse and you don't think that said someone is dead, then even if you're right, you are delusional. And the issue I'm taking with this isn't the fact that Sherlock faked his death, it's with the disregard for the emotions of someone he claims to care about and the acceptance of this by everyone else involved.

    • @JDog2656

      Yes this is Sherlock's fundamental flaw.
      Businessmen have money but fucked up relationships.
      Bullies may have social dominance for a while but they get locked behind bars.
      Empathetic people can be kind but be too trusting and stupid.
      Sherlock has the mind of a genius but the emotional intelligence of 0.
      These are all the flaws that make the characters interesting.
      The goal is to mature and fix these flaws. But alas people ignore their weaknesses and keep focusing on their strengths letting the problem get worse over time.@@ianschmutzler8177

    In the books, Sherlock came to John's office disguised as a book collector. He removed his disguise and John fainted from the shock. A few moments later, John came to and Sherlock apologized that he scared him for the sake of his love for dramatics. Despite that, John was over the moon to see his friend alive and immediately joined his side when Sherlock asked for his help. Needless to say, as someone who read the books before the series came, my jaw dropped when John punched Sherlock. Makes sense but WOW!
    It didn't help that also in the books, Sherlock explained that he wanted to tell John many times that he was alive but he knew John had too good of a heart and loyalty to Sherlock which would've risked everything should John have decided to seek him out in fear that he was in danger and he wouldn't be there to help like always.

    I actually really liked Mary, I wish her role and Molly's could have been explored further. I think a fun alternative idea to season 4 could have been Molly&Mary taking on Eurus, and the boys playing catch up so to speak. Then leaving an open door to a season 5, with a larger cast. I love this show.

      It would have been cool to see Mary and Molly as characters a bit more fleshed put. Like they have a lot of potential so it’s a little sad that they’re reduced to ‘the girl who is in love with Sherlock but keeps getting rejected’ or ‘the wife who’s an ex-assassin that dies’

    In the original story it's the case that Sherlock leaves his best friend to grieve for years. The highly questionable reason for this being, that if he trusts him to keep a secret, he might slip up. This version of the story explores the extremely obvious issue of how that's a stupid reason to leave a friend grieving, and while the acting is always good, Martin Freeman hits it out of the park more than usual.....but sherlock's fake death wasn't sufficiently explained, which is all I came for. Not this "acting" and "character development", and "humanity" bullshit.
