I love all the interesting spins they have put into the game. One of the cars looks very similar to the Mazda 787B, the way the cars open and close based on speed is taken from Future GPX Cyber Formula, and the gameplay as a whole is similar to Ridge Racer. I just don’t know about the price yet. There are only 8 total cars out on the track, making the game seem pretty barren and empty, which is what caused the repetitive feelings. I feel like 16, 24 or even 32 cars would make the game far more intense, as well as a really expansive online multiplayer, which is what I think they should focus on if they want to avoid the repetitiveness. I fully support putting advanced damage models in these kind of games because it gives you the option of taking your opponent out or thinking twice before passing an aggressive racer instead of the normal bump you give to move the car out of your line. I also agree that the announcer is beyond annoying. A futuristic A.I voice would have been far more fitting. I really don’t want this game to fail because there is a clear gap in the market that this game fills, and I have been waiting for that gap to be filled for nearly a decade. I just hope the devs listen to the community because this is the kind of game that will lose all interest really quickly if they don’t.

I wonder what is the function of that body shapeshifting (or expanding?) feature within this game. In Cyber Formula games, body "shapeshifting" feature is an equivalent to real-life DRS System ("Aero Mode" in CF increases acceleration and top speed at the expense of downforce, resulting in massive understeer). Does that body "shapeshifting" feature within Xenon Racer have the same effect? I'm looking to buy this game in the future. Before that, I want to dig some informations first.
Well I want to know, when a car's body widens (expands) as the race start (just like on this video), does the performance of the car altered? Or is it (body expansion) just a graphical effect with no effect towards performance?
@@iratakamachi6157 it only opens when you reach a certain speed but does not impact your performance its just a visual effect. To effect performance you have to upgrade your car but by choosing the correct setup for each track.

I could see elimination, lap time attack, checkpoint run, and maybe a burnout-style mode? I know it's in beta, but if we can rally with the developers and they listen to us, this game can be a true underdog in the genre. Believe me, I want this game to win
I played the beta version and I was getting a Ridge Racer 6/7 futuristic vibe. I enjoyed it, but it only has 8 opponents to race against and the A.I. are very easy to beat even the hardest differently. (also there was no online players at the time). Also judging from the trailer, it doesn't look like it has large track selection. (I think I saw around 8 different environments) so I'm assuming around 16+ tracks, which is okay for a indie game, but with the price tag of $40 (from what I heard from the Steam forums) I don't think there is enough content and replay value for that price... I hope I'm completely wrong however... Great video btw!

It's different because in Xenon racing when you start a drift you have to maintain it for all the turn or you're on the wall (I'm Italian so my English it's quite terrible sorry)

Although I've been playing lots of games with more realistic physics (AC, PC2, Dirt Rally, etc), I really enjoy arcade games, especially futuristic games like F-Zero. But I did not find my perfect game yet. I dream of something set in a world that resembles the first Blade Runner movie. Gigantic cities at night, lights, outdoors, propaganda, neon, tracks with huge bumps and loops (like that Speed Racer movie). The closest I've seen to this were those crazy racing servers of GTA San Andreas using the MTA multiplayer mod.

When I saw the first trailer last year, I though it would be a Cyber Formula kind of game (I miss this series but the games were ... meh, even for a fan).
try reviewing this game: Assoluto Racing. It's a racing sim for mobile phones, but would really want to see your thoughts on this game. Though I'd say it's too good for its platform imo.
I personally don't think they should encourage reckless driving because this is more of a futuristic professional racing arcady kind of game based on something like F1 or the GT Touring cars. although I think a crash system that penalizes you should be implemented as apposed to the loud, flashy, and wild Burnout games where you knockout the other racers to win
On the way it is now, it works well as a mobile game. Add a lot of gamemodes, a strong multiplayer and things like you said, it will work just nice as a PC/home consoles game. (A reasonable price helps this too)

This game looks good.. but I'm still waiting for a succesor for the TMNF and TMUF legacy, an arcade racing game easy to learn and hard to master, with basically infinite depth accessible for everyone but with the paid extras as well and a built in economy system rewarding you for playing the game but only w cosmetics that you get to choose from even other players.
gameplay wise it looks like it has the same issue as ridge racer. Makes sense since the game is obviously an homage to ridge racer. Would make a great switch game.

Developers talked about an un-linear career with a plot(!), that will make the game replayable. Honestly, the only think i don't like in this game are the sound effects of menu and boost cells in the track, they sounds like toys when cars are awesome! After that i have a request: can you talk about GRIP?
Sort of disagree with you on the gameplay segment. Coming from someone who still plays R4 to this day I like the gameplay set up they've got now and just adding some more modes to it would be good to spice things up. Otherwise i'd rather things it just stay simple instead of over complicating things.
Watching this review, I kinda sad 90's Arcade Racer (or whatever it's called today) that hold same spirit with this game (classic arcade racer throwback woth modern stuff) slowly but surely become vaporware...

I would say the game needs more AIs and a damage system close to Burnout.

Nelle tue analisi a mio avviso dovresti aggiungere una componente, per me fondamentale, specialmente nei racing arcade/finte sim.
Ovvero l'effetto elastico. Quella componente per cui l'IA falsa le prestazioni degli avversari, facendoli andare più piano o facendoli recuperare con prestazioni assurde per simulare una competizione costante.
Personalmente è un aspetto che detesto quando viene applicato, anche se mi rendo conto che nei racing-game arcade è un espediente facile e furbetto per tenere alta la pressione durante le gare.
Ero curioso di sapere quanto pesantemente fosse riscontrabile in questo Xenon Racer.
No, l'effetto elastico non é presente in Xenon Racer.
C'é solo una differenza prestazionale dell'IA in base alla posizione della griglia di partenza: chi parte primo é generalmente più veloce di chi parte nelle ultime posizioni.

When I saw the first trailer last year, I though it would be a Cyber Formula kind of game (I miss this series but the games were ... meh, even for a fan).
try reviewing this game: Assoluto Racing. It's a racing sim for mobile phones, but would really want to see your thoughts on this game.
Though I'd say it's too good for its platform imo.
Lordy with all that motion blur it might as well be in the Unity engine.

I personally don't think they should encourage reckless driving because this is more of a futuristic professional racing arcady kind of game based on something like F1 or the GT Touring cars. although I think a crash system that penalizes you should be implemented as apposed to the loud, flashy, and wild Burnout games where you knockout the other racers to win
On the way it is now, it works well as a mobile game. Add a lot of gamemodes, a strong multiplayer and things like you said, it will work just nice as a PC/home consoles game. (A reasonable price helps this too)

This game looks good.. but I'm still waiting for a succesor for the TMNF and TMUF legacy, an arcade racing game easy to learn and hard to master, with basically infinite depth accessible for everyone but with the paid extras as well and a built in economy system rewarding you for playing the game but only w cosmetics that you get to choose from even other players.

gameplay wise it looks like it has the same issue as ridge racer. Makes sense since the game is obviously an homage to ridge racer. Would make a great switch game.

F1 2050 in a nutshell
Developers talked about an un-linear career with a plot(!), that will make the game replayable. Honestly, the only think i don't like in this game are the sound effects of menu and boost cells in the track, they sounds like toys when cars are awesome!

Sort of disagree with you on the gameplay segment. Coming from someone who still plays R4 to this day I like the gameplay set up they've got now and just adding some more modes to it would be good to spice things up. Otherwise i'd rather things it just stay simple instead of over complicating things.

Watching this review, I kinda sad 90's Arcade Racer (or whatever it's called today) that hold same spirit with this game (classic arcade racer throwback woth modern stuff) slowly but surely become vaporware...
